We stayed here for a week, on our first family camping trip (two adults, one 12 year old, one 2 year old and a dog in a large tent).

The site was perfect for us. The facilities were basic but were more than adequate for our needs - I only had to queue once for a shower. The site was quiet in the evenings and the older children gathered in the games room to play and chat.

It is perfectly located for trips into Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay where there are plenty of things to see and do.

Out pitch was plenty big enough for our tent (a Hartwell XL) and we didn't feel that we were cramped in, even as the site got busier during our stay.

All in all a great little site, we will definitely be back again!

Camp site is basic but we thought it was worth the money we paid for the site. The showers are basic and they did run very hot and then very cold. There was only 1 shower for the whole site, which meant that it was busy if you wanted to shower in the morning when everyone else does.

The tent site is in a shady part of the site which wasn't the best, it meant that it was quite cold for those of us in tents, and perhaps the owners should reconsider the arrangement of the site a bit to make it better for campers.

The owners were very nice thogugh and let us borrow a map for our cycle. The location of the site is perfect for visiting both Whitby and Robin hoods bay too.

This was by far the most expensive site we visited in the two weeks of our Yorkshire holiday this year and quite frankly it wasn't worth the price. Although the cost was not so high at £20 per night for a tent and family, the shower and toilet facilities let it down badly, with only one shower. At busy times this meant a long wait sometimes outside to go to the loo or shower.

The tent field is in a valley which gets little sunshine morning (for packing a dry tent) or evening (to sit out), and although the pitches are generally level we had to pitch our tent 'side on' to allow cars to pass further down the site. We felt very crammed in when the site became busy and if it had not been for our trailer guy rops would have crossed!

On the positive side the owners are nice people and the site is in a quiet area, ideal for Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay and the Coast, but having once visited our next trip will not include Rigg farm.

Plus points - very quiet apart from bird song, pretty views to Whitby.

Negative points -

- one shower for a field full of tents and 9 units on the electric hook ups: this meant a queue in the morning.

- Most of the 9 electric hardstands had seasonal caravans on them so it's essential that you book at weekends.

- Tent field is down in a valley beside a wood, so it was shaded when we were in the morning and evening sun on the terrace above.

- No pub in walking distance.

- Country roads may not be advisable for a long motorhome.

We have an energetic dog that must be exercised off lead - the 'dog walk' was the mown verge of the public road and this is one reason that we won't be back.

The other reason is cost - in a week touring round North Yorkshire, this was by far the most expensive site, several pounds more than the next most expensive which had a restaurant/pub and a swimming pool on site. It wasn't worth it.

Lovely site, very convenient for Robin Hood's Bay and Whitby, just 5 minutes to either. Great hot showers, though they're metered at 20p for 3 minutes, it's not too expensive. Play area for the kids, and a small shop selling all the things you might have forgotten and a good range of sweets! Very nice lady owner made us very welcome. Nice flat areas and not too busy (even on August bank holiday weekend). Will definitely go back.

Called at this site whilst looking for somewhere to stay. The site was full but the owner was very helpful advising the location of other sites. We did use the toilets which were spotless! The site looked really nice and we would consider booking here next time we're in the area.

Lovely little campsite in the middle of the countryside - just the sheep and the birds to wake you in the morning. However it is still handy enough for places like Whitby and Robins Hood Bay etc.

The campsite is clean and tidy. There is not much space for big tents as the field is long and narrow and enough room must be left for cars to pass. The loo/shower block was always spotless and always had fresh flowers, nice soap and towels. The laundry/wash up area was well equipped and clean. There is a games room and a couple of swings which our two boys made very good use of. There is no shop now as the owners of the site felt the site is too small to support a shop. This is only a minor inconvenience as there is a good supermarket 4 miles away in Whitby. The site owners are very friendly and helpful.

We found the pub in Robins Hood Bay next to the slipway excellent for food for adults and children alike. Staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. The walk back up the hill aids the digestion too!!

This is a good campsite for families looking for a peaceful break away from it all. Next time we visit this area we will certainly try and stay here.

We visited this site just as the new owners had taken over and found it very pleasant, there is plenty to do in the area.

We were camping with three other groups of friends. The tent area is seperate to the statics and is right next to a stream, which was really nice. The showers and toilets were very clean and even had dove soap (wow).

The owners were very helpful and tended to your every need.

There are some swings for the kids to play on, and the good thing is that you can see them at all times as they are on the same field as the tents.

It does have a shop on site but unfortunately wasn’t up and running when we were there but I’m sure it is now. The good thing is though that there’s a supermarket in Whitby, which is only about a ten-minute drive.

We visited Robin Hoods Bay which is even nearer and that’s a must to go and see.

All in all a very nice site and we will be returning in the summer.

An excellent little site with good facilities. The site is on a two-tier pitch which makes for a well sheltered area considering it is coastal. Robin Hood's Bay is only a few miles from the site and there's easy access to the Whitby - Scarborough link road. Showers/toilets etc are kept in very good order too.
