We have just returned from a very relaxed one night stay at Gigrin, the site is basic but sometimes that makes for a nicer stay. There are ladies and gents toilets, a water point, and loads of hook ups and chemical disposal point. The views over the Elan valley are fantastic and the walk into Rhyader about 5-10 mins. The drive to the dams and visitor centre is about 10 minutes.
There are plenty of level areas to park in the field but no dedicated hardstanding, although Mr Powell will let you park on the gravelled roads entering the field. The feeding of the Red Kite is well worth the £3 fee to see these birds at close quarters, there is also a small shop and information barn selling everything to do with birds, RSPB etc and also ice creams. There is a fantastic tv reception and mobile phone coverage and also wireless internet access. There is a hotel with non residents facilities about a 1 minute walk down the lane. All in all a great little convienient site, would definitely stay again.

May 2004 Lovely site - basic facilities (no showers) - but more than made up for in location. The farm is a Red Kite feeding centre and we watched from our tent flaps the kites and buzzards circling. We were in the top field so quite a trek to the loos, but utterly perfect views.
There is a small kiddies play area and a nature walk around the farm. You're also just a few minutes walk from Rhayder and only 10 minutes drive from the Elan Valley.
Will definitely return
