We spent the first week of our holidays here.
The site is absolutely fantastic, from the minute you drive down the tree & flower lined entrance, if just looks lovely.
We were given a large corner pitch, which had plenty of room, and was great for both shade and sun.
The pool area, although very busy, was nice and clean, and you were allowed to take your own chairs in, which was good as there were sometimes none of the sunbeds spare. There is a grassed area within the pool complex which is nice and shaded if you don't want to sit in full sun.
The toilet blocks were extremely clean, with good hot showers, and we never had to queue.
The shop on site was really well stocked, although a little overpriced - but great for anything you needed.
We didn't go very far in the local area, as the girls (14 year old) were perfectly happy to stay round the pool with friends they had met, so really we only visited the supermarkets !
I would recommend this site without hesitation, and it's certainly on our list for next year !

This is probably the best run campsite we have ever stayed on. It is spotlessly clean with beautiful flowerbeds and shrubs. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The receptionist who dealt with us on arrival had a badge indicating she spoke 4 languages.
Although it is a very large site, it didn't feel crowded. Most of the mobile home pitches have hedges on 3 sides for privacy and are well spread out. Our 3 - bedroomed caravan was clean, spacious and equipped with everything you could possibly need.
The shop was large for a campsite and had a good stock of fresh fruit & veg. We didn't try the takeaway and the restaurant was expensive for a family of four.
I was particularly impressed with the launderette - there were 15 washing machines and several driers.
We were prepared for mosquitos, having read other reviews, but didn't encounter a single one in the week we were there.
The only downside was that there wasn't as much to do in the area as we'd hoped. We had several trips to Isle d'Oleron, which included a huge Sunday market at Chateau d'Oleron and some good beaches. La Rochelle is less than an hour away and well worth a visit.

We stayed here in the second and third week of August 2009. I booked well in advance and were allocated an enormous flat pitch in a great location with hook up. So I would advise you do what I did and tell them what you are looking for in a pitch and location when booking as they definitely met all our criteria.
If you arrive on spec they have a 'waiting' area where they can put you if the site is full and then move you once a pitch becomes available - we met a guy who did this and apparently they operate it very efficiently.
Be aware that the hook up points (6 amps) can be a fair way away from your pitch so an extension cable is essential. Also worth noting is that we found that on the same hook up point there were reverse and normal polarity sockets - I don't know what that means to you personally but after testing we just hooked up to a 'normal' point.
The pool area is outstanding, there's a selection of pools some better suited to young children than others but something for everyone. There was the usual rush for the sunbeds in the morning but if you are up and out early enough you can get them.
Mini disco was great, the kids absolutely loved it but we didn't hang about for the later entertainment. I'd advise getting there early though as there is a shortage of tables and chairs in the square.
Supermarket is great for the odd bits and bobs but there's a massive Carrefour not too far away. The bar was friendly and not too expensive. The restaurant didn't really do it for us, mainly aimed at the Dutch market, very hefty food for the weather we felt, so we only went twice. Theres also a take away selling the usual pizza, chips and burgers etc.
There is a bit of a mosquito problem, a local advised us to line one side of the hedges with a couple of windbreaks which we did after being eaten alive whilst pitching the tent, and we were hardly bitten again after that, but we did continue with our sprays.
Not a huge amount going on in the local area but I would definitely recommend that if you have kids you try out Marennes beach. Its a great, lifeguarded beach on a lovely warm, gently shelving sea lagoon. Nice soft sand, with a beach bar/shop and a smattering of restaurants opposite. You can just park on the side of the road in front of the beach. I'le d'oleron is definitely worth a visit too, we went to a lovely harbour and had lunch in a restaurant which felt like the bow of a ship (but I can't remember the town name). There is a slight issue with traffic heading to the Island but use your sat nav to go cross country and you can avoid a lot of it.
Its certainly a place we would be happy to return to and recommend to others.

Great site, beautifully kept flower beds. European hookups, superpitches huge, toilet blocks spotless.Friendly staff, shop not too pricey, restaurant really well presented and food excellant - best I've had on a campsite. Pool area decent for a large site, didn't feel overcrowded. Loungers, well if you really need one then get there early. Pitches well laid out and mixed in with mobiles etc. Usual animation, lively for the young people but all quiet by midnight. Main road a bit noisy but nothing a few glasses of red and an armagnac could not sort out. Would go back, certainly in my top five sites but would go and find more gems in France as they have so many. Area has good towns to visit like La Rochelle, the Ille de re and Saintes for Roman culture. Hypermakets in Marennes just down the road. Lobsters in tank at Intermarche for a special dinner(good quality we had some) lots of shellfish from the oyster beds of the region with 'Pinneau Charente' a local drink. We had mussels cooked ourselves with coconut milk and thai spices yummy. Beaches brilliant at Royan and near the lighthouse at Coubre although be careful as the breakers and currents are powerful, Atlantic was warmer than the campsite pool. Wish I was there now with the temperatures in the 30's and endless blue skies whilst Britain had another rubbish summer.

We stayed at Sequoia Park from the 19th to 25th July 2009. Overall impressions were that it is a pretty good campsite. Well run, well maintained, excellent friendly staff, good range of facilities and had a great kids club.
We travelled with 2 adults and 5 children (3-12) and everyone had a good time.
The weather was a bit mixed a couple of very hot days and couple of rainy one and the rest was ok. The reason we drove this far south was to try and get some better weather but it really wasn’t worth the extra drive, we stayed in Sable D’Olonne last year and had much the same type of weather.
We picked this camp for 2 main reasons (1) The Kids Club & (2) the Swimming Pool complex and we were not disappointed with either.
There is an excellent riding stable attached to the camp we our eldest used this quiet a lot and was not disappointed.
It is quiet large with 450 approx pitches. There were a lot of Dutch people staying there with some French, English and Irish also.
We went private i.E. Booked directly with the campsite and the ferry company and cut out the middleman i.E. Keycamp who we used in previous years and we save €1,000. Accommodation was excellent, 3 bedroom, all mods cons and a large pitch with decking.
The negatives were:-
A) We had to hire a barbeque for €15/ week. It was your very basic charcoal model. We could have bought a new better one in the local supermarket for €19!
B) They charge €5/ hour for W-Fi access! Daylight robbery. In previous camps we stayed in this was free.
The drive from Roscoff was quiet long. Six & a half hours if you tried it nonstop as it was it took us 10 hours on the way down thanks to a major traffic jam after leaving the motorway (thanks to Sat-Nav we got our way out of the eventually) but we also took a few stops for picnics, McDonalds and shopping. We made it back in seven and a half hours as we went back via the A10 and even though this was longer it saved us time overall.

Just returned from Sequoia Parc - stayed in a gitotel; basic but comfortable. Agree with all the comments previously - great site, lovely pool complex, friendly staff, excellent facilities - restaurants and shops and entertainment. Downside: not enough sun loungers to go around; although they do get freed up during the day as people go for lunch etc. - less hogging of loungers was noticeable - the lifeguards have been watching and dumping off towels etc from loungers which haven't been used in a few hours. Also - many mosquitos so take plug ins and repellent! Site quite remote so need to travel if you want to see \ do anything else. Lovely beaches at La Palmyre (carry on past the zoo - you'll see all the cars!); 2 big supermarkets in Marennes, larger markets on Ile d'Oleron. Area very flat (Fens meets Norfolk Coast)so great for cycling!

July 2004 We had a great week at Sequoia Parc. It was very hard to drag my two children (6 and 4 yrs) away from the huge childrens pool. The campsite was quite busy but most people respected the midnight quiet rule. The surrounding area is very nice, lots of quiet beaches to choose from and not too far away, we visited Isle d'Oleron a number of times - lots to see.

August 2002 Just found this web site - hence the late review!! Agree with all the comments about the site. Would add that the childrens activities were well run. Our 6 year old (as she was then) is quite shy, but the group leaders made sure she was involved and she really enjoyed herself. Would add however that it is quite a trek to a decent beach. We would not return for that reason. The island that is referred to in the previous report is nice and reasonably close, but in August it is a terribly busy road and can take an age. Also waters around the south of the island tend to be a bit murky. On the map the site doesn't look far from nice beaces just north of Royan, only problem is you can't drive there as the crow flies due to the marshes and oyster beds!

August 2003 Just returned from this site.
Had a fantastic holiday! We have been to several sites in various regions of France - have to say this is the best ever. We will definately be returning to this site next year.
Everything appeared to be superbly maintained, the gounds and facilities were extremely attractive. The pitches were very spacious. Evening entertainment brilliant, cannot fault a single thing.
We toured the area and found the best beach to be The Grande Plage at Ile D'Oleron, although during August you need to set off early as it gets very busy - still packed at 7:00pm! We found arriving by at least 10:00am got you a parking space within a short walking distance.
The zoo at La Palmyre is well worth a visit, it took us about 4.5 hours to get round - really well laid out.
Would most certainly recommend this site.

July 2003 Just come back from this Park (end June) having stayed with Eurocamp there. It is part of the Yello Company of Holiday parks.
Really big park, but well kept with lots of facilities - big 3 pool complex for Familes, which was very clean, but a bit crowded. Loads for the kids to do though.
Nice new Barn conversion Bar & Restaurant, and a Pizza takeaway on site too.
Toilet block on the whole clean, but family of Birds with babies had nested in our block, so even though it was cleaned constantly, the poor cleaning lady couldn''t always keep up with the droppings - bit of a shame.
Pitches were a good size, divided by hedges for some privacy, and most without shade.
Staff on reception really friendly, and spoke good English.
Plenty of pitches for tents & caravans available amongst the Tent & Static companies...but unfortunately forgot to check out prices before we left!
Close to Ilse de Oloran (not correct spelling, but French was never my forte!) for lovely clean beaches (20 mins or so and where Fort Boyard is) and 40 mins from Royan for some nice Seafood & fish restaurants. About 1 1/2 hours from Cognac.
Nothing much in Marennes but a couple of big Supermarkets, and a pleasant little church.
Would think it would be very busy and noisy in high Season, definetly a Family park, but would certainly go back...with our own tent next time!
