Beautiful site, beautiful countryside all around, very clean. Only used the loo in the day so no light not a problem, had to take own loo roll though.
Ashby del la zouch is a lovely old market town, went to a pub there called bulls head had a fantastic meal. Very nice indoor market, with a fantastic makeup stall, small market but nice. Will be returning to this area and site very soon.

A nice little campsite on the outskirts of Ashby. Stayed here recently after going hiking and if you like roughing it it's not bad. The facilities were very basic but clean and if all your after is a nice, basic but cheap campsite then this is the one for you. One word of warning, the toilets dont have any toilet roll so you need to buy your own.

Site access is good and well signposted. Very helpful and pleasant owners. We were on the rally field which had good views of the surrounding area. Great for walking.
No lighting in toilets made it difficult to see even in the daylight.
Did not use showers on this visit. Slight road noise, but not a major problem. You can hear the noise from the planes but it is very occasional.
Good value, nice basic CL. Would return.

We have just come back from a lovely weekend at this campsite, which despite all the rain we have had recently was able to accommodate us for the night (a lot of other campsites are struggling and advised us we would be unable to stay due the grass being waterlogged. A basic, but clean campsite. The ladies toilet was in a shed with no electric (take your torch after dark)! The men's showers / toilets were in a purpose built block, which also housed the ladies showers. Only complaints would be that there was no separate facility for washing up and the only big enough sink was in the men's shower block and there was only cold water. Also the site is not really for people who are light sleepers as it lies in the path of East Midlands Airport flights, which can get noisy particularly at night. That said at only £4 per person per night it was a lovely site, with a pub/ restaurant 10 minutes walk away, a supermarket 1 mile away and plenty of walks around the national forest direct from the site, which as a dog owner is a bonus.

This is a very pleasant site about a mile outside Ashby. There is the new country park opposite the farm with acres of walks, the dogs loved it. There is a bus stop right outside and they go about every hour into the small town which has a variety of shops, pubs and eating places. There is also a pub a few minutes walk up the road. The site has basic but adequate facilities with two showers, and two separate toilets, which do not have lighting. The pitches are level grass and surrounded by shrubbery, it has a garden feel. On the web site it says that they have five hard standings but I only saw an area that looked big enough for two vans. I would visit this site again, it had a nice feel about it but then the weather was good.

Very pleasant, basic site... units are sited amongst the trees - only caters for a few units with a rally field elsewhere. In the summer it would be a lovely site as there seems to be some good walks - bit muddy when we went but that was expected in November and it is a farm. We were really impressed and we will be going again "whatever time of year" - nice countryside views and despite being off a main road - not noisy. In main flight path from East Midlands - but again this did not bother us....only to think the people on the plane may have been going to a "sunny warm climate"! Seriously would recommend as BASIC very nice camp site. At £8.50 per night - no complaints..........

July 2004 Stayed here while visiting Donington park (about 20 minutes drive) the site was quiet and clean and tidy, you have to be well organised to use the limited facilities. I would use the site again.

September 2003 Ourselves and 4 other families camped on the small rally field of this family run site (4 trailer tents and 1 caravan). At £5.50 per unit per night plus £2 for electricity, it was good value for money.
The newly built shower block is excellent but could have been extended to include some new toilets which are currently housed in garden sheds with no power or hot water. However, there are other toilet facilities a bit further from the rally field with additional showers and lights.
There is some noise from planes as the site is under the East Midlands airport flight path. The owners dog has freedom across the site and may deposit unwanted presents, which was of concern as there were several small children in our party. These were quickly cleared by the owner when it was pointed out.
On the whole I would recommend this site and would gladly visit again.
