Nice well maintained site, great location. Site office also has lots of local information and sells ice cream and confectionery. Walks along the coast in both directions also good for bikes. Toilets are well maintained, you are given a key on arrival. The electric showers however are either too hot or cold. Great play park if you have youngsters. Also tennis court, 5 aside football court and putting site. Wairds park also hosts the local football league on a Saturday when the big boys play, so if you pitch up behind the goals be prepared for balls not on target. Get fresh lobster and crab from the harbour. Village also has 2 good pubs and a shop that sells everything including lotto. There is also about half a dozen picnic tables and chairs.

Have just returned from an enjoyable 2 night stay at Wairds Park. It is situated just back from the coast on the north-side of the village. Turn left when you reach the harbour and continue along the road, keeping the sea on your right and you'll come to the site. Signs are somewhat lacking in the village. Also cross you fingers that you won't meet a van leaving the site as the road is narrow and cars are often parked on one side.
We had booked the previous day and were told that reception would be closed but a sheet would be posted on the door advising names and pitch assigned. All very organised, except the pitch markers don't match the map at reception. They have had some upgrade work done earlier in the year and are in the process of ironing out some of these teething problems. As a result of this work, the pitches appear to be a bit bumpy but didn't take much to level off our van. There is also a tap and waste drain at the back of each pitch, in addition to the electric socket.
The showers have recently been changed out, just remember to turn the temperature down to almost cold if you select 'high', otherwise you get hot then cold and can't regulate it. The toilets and sinks are spotless. There are the usual laundry and dish wash area which looked spotless as well though we didn't use them.
The site is in a good location if you like walking or cycling. We cycled along the coastal path to Gourdon and then onto Inverbervie (fish and chips at the Bervie chipper is a must). A bit bumpy in places but flat. You can also go in the opposite direction to St Cyrus (that's where we'll be going on the next visit). The beach is mainly rocks but good for looking in rock pools. Montrose is about a 15 minute drive south and is a good shopping town as well as having a nice beach.
Although there are quite a lot of statics on site, the touring pitches are positioned to allow a view of the sea through the gaps between the statics. There are tennis courts, putting green, bowling green, play area for kids and a large area for football or kite flying on site.
In Johnshaven itself, about 10 minute walk away, there is a local shop and 2 pubs/hotels though we never made it to them. Folk were friendly saying 'hello' as we passed on our bikes.
We'll be back.

This is a camp site not to be missed. It has everything you could possibly want for a more than comfortable stay. Excellent prices for tents with plenty of pitches. Courts for badmington, tennis basketball and football as well as the putting green and bowls court. It has a nice wee shop for the essential snacks with a post office and shop less than a 5 mins walk along the beach road. It also boasts a lovely pub near by offering food and friendly locals to chat to. The site's charm has a lot to do with the lovely people residing in the caravans there who even brought us a fry up in the morning ha ha how lovely! The beach is on your door step so what else could you possibly need. Free use of showers, toilets, food prep are and laundry room. I could go on and on. ABSOLUTELY GREAT SITE!
