We have been going to this site regularly since 2008. We go August Bank Holiday weekend, October and December because it is handy for Liverpool. There is a pub within 10 to 15 minutes walk and an Indian restaurant 2 mins walk away. We get a taxi from the site to Magull railway station to Liverpool and the taxi fare is cheap.
There is no toilet or shower facilities, but our caravan has both.
Chris and his wife know we are regular and we asked if we could pitch by the barn.
Chris is very helpful and he knows the area very well.

We've just returned from a 3 night break Thurs to Sun over Easter. We found the site pretty good and the owner very friendly. That said, we were charged over the odds as it was Easter (£15)and the CC book says 'from £10'. Owner said it was because it was Easter! We only booked it last minute as the weather was so gorgeous and we were lucky to get a cancellation!
It was a serviced pitch which was large and grassed. We had our own toilet and shower facilities so needed nothing else. There was a caravan parked outside the barn as another reviewer referred to making 6 pitches in all!
We used the site as a base for cycling to Liverpool, Crosby, Formby and managed all those routes easily.
We would definitely use the site again - the noise isn't a problem despite the proximity to the motorway.

When I phoned the owner said the site itself was waterlogged, but we could stay on a hardstanding area near the barn, which was fine by us, our ehu cable reached from the site and OH set up a hosepipe for water.
It's very convenient for Liverpool and the coast and we didn't find the road noise intrusive. £10 per night seems a little expensive for what is on offer though, no facilities. It is a secure site as it has a gate with a padlock; you are told where to find the key when booking.
We would use the site again, especially in the apple season, there were loads.

Nice site, very friendly owner and his wife, nothing too much trouble, lots of advise about the area and how to get about. Well looked after, grass frequently cut, water from standpipes, usual 240 v supplies. Elsan disposal point, locked gate with padlock, owner told you of position of key to get in and out. Farm house over looks site for extra security. Site was well hidden from road by thickly planted trees. Caravan clubs use the site for rallies, so that says a lot. Local taxi service, 2 stations locally, award winning pub 1 mile away. 3 local town centres a short drive away. Will be going back there again.

Very secure CL in pleasing surroundings. Handy for motorway but traffic noise can disturb early morning. Site owner very friendly and helpful and rightly proud of site which is well looked after. Electric hook ups on all 5 pitches and water to 3. Handy for buses and Park and Ride trains to Ormskirk and Liverpool. Plenty of shops, pubs etc in nearby Maghull just a couple of miles away.

This site was booked because of a surprise family party happening in nearby Kirkby. The location is perfect - just off the M58 (not noisy) and handy for the family.
We had booked a long time in advance for the Easter weekend, although we did later telephone the owner to extend our booking by one day, making our stay three nights.
Upon arrival, it appeared the site (5 x van CL) was not only full, it was OVERLOWING! He had nine vans in, including us, meaning we could not have a 'proper' pitch, but we put into a badly sloping piece of ground beside his barn. The EHU was a treat - two of us sharing one EHU, hidden under a traffic cone (couldn't use heating and hot water together)! He did not make any attempt to move the extra caravans which had turned up and pitched without booking, which miffed us slightly, then he had the cheek to ask for more money per night than advertised in the Club handbook.
No toilets (as advertised), just chemical disposal.
The site itself - had we been able to get on - is a pretty orchard alongside a fairly minor road, but screened with dense, high hedging, so you can't even see the caravans from the road.
Pub nearby the Hen and Chicken - pretty 'rough' but OK for a drink and stagger back to caravan.
Really easy to get into Liverpool - park & ride consists of free car park at Maghull, then really good value, frequent trains into Liverpool Central Station. Trains run late.
That said, the location is good and we would use it again for family visits.
