I booked my break after reading the previous reviews and I wasn't disappointed.
Stuart the warden could not be more helpful, even marking out areas on a map for us to visit which were off the beaten track and would not have found otherwise.
This is a lovely site, with lovely people. The seasonal campers were there and made us more than welcome. Telling us places to visit and even offering to fetch shopping for us if they were going out.
The site has a small park for the kids to play in.
A lovely dog walk through a wooded path.
Toilets and showers were adequate and were clean every time we visited them.
Very close to Porthmadog.
Lots of places to visit round about.
Will definitely return to this site.

We drove here from the ferry port at Liverpool, and it was our first time in Snowdonia. We got pitched up at a peaceful, secluded area of the park, which offered amazing mountain views.
The owner of the site was very friendly and helpful. The showers and toilets were clean enough (but the temperature seemed to be too hot and wouldn't turn down) and used 20p pieces.
Plenty of local info was also provided, and so was a play park. There is a cycle path from the site into the nearby village of Penrhyndeudraeth where it's easy to cyle 3 miles into Porthmadog, a picturesque town with lots of shops, restaurants and attractions. A fantastic site,
Would loved to have stayed longer.

Visited the site at the beginning of June and experienced some wonderfully warm weather!
The site is well laid out with plenty of space, good size pitches. Our pitch had water and electricity.
It is a really beautiful area and the fees were very reasonable.
Only 2 minus points as far as we were concerned: the shower and toilet block is very outdated and while we were there, they were not very clean. The showers are £1 and not at all powerful. The other issue was the noise from the nearby road.
However, if these 2 things don't bother you, the site is great and of course, the site is reflected in the price.
Overall, would return again and maybe the showers will be renovated soon!

Our first visit to Blaen Cefn and what a great time we had, as we arrived we met Stuart who welcomed us then shown us our pitch,he also offered us any extension leads we may need for the hook-up free of charge, you can see this is just Stuart the way he is just wants to help you have a wonderful stay and that we had.
Our party was me the wife,11yr old daughter and Black Lab we had a ELC with plenty of power not like some campsites when your restricted to a electric toaster then trip of it goes!
Shower and toilet facilities was just fine, they are clean and work just fine,ok the showers cost a quid, but what can you buy for a quid our days!
Had some really nice walks with the dog past the fishing pond, very nice, you walk past some lovely properties
Portmeirion only 2 miles away, was really looking forward to it, but unfortunately you cannot take dogs in, also Harlech castle do not except dogs, but never mind we had a good look from the outside.
Not much more I can add to this camp, if you want a great location good value for money, nice and clean with friendly campers, this is the place.
The local village is only a few minutes drive away that has everything you need, Spar, Takeaways and a local pub.
Will definitely be going back to this site, only hope we have the heatwave again that we have just experienced.

Having spent a successful Easter Weekend here in 2010 (see my previous review), I decided to return again.
I was delighted to see the site keeps on getting better.
There are a number of new pitches on site which are nicely landscaped.
Despite a busy, fully booked weekend, the site remained spotless.
The shower problems still remain unresolved, costing £1 per shower so I chose to use the shower in my van.
Stuart the Warden remains as conscientious as ever.
Stuart reports that approval has finally been granted to allow installation of a new shower/toilet block which will be a welcome addition to the site.
I'll no doubt be back again.

Having returned from Blaen Cefn again this weekend, leaving the caravan this year on site for the year, the amount of help and laughs (mostly on us!) with staff and lovely people who are also seasonal pitch holders.
Stuart - what can we say, very helpful, TV aerial man, awning helper, the amount of tips from this gentleman is amazing for us being new to caravanning. Nothing is too much trouble for Stuart, Gareth and family are really lovely people too, it's a site which has the home from home feeling. Some lovely 'residents' on site who we have had help from.
Kids play area is brilliant, lovely site, plenty of room for everyone, well spaced out, lovely and clean facilities in the bathroom areas, rubbish and waste areas are clutter free, aerial points on each plot for freeview use.
Long hot showers for £1.All electrics for site use are within the price of the season, which taking all into account is good value if you can use it.
We are only 50 minutes away and will definitely be spending a lot of time there.
Clean site for the kids too, brilliant kids play area for ages walking to teenagers.
Fishing pond on site, 15 minute walk into the village, with chippy, chinese takeaway (lovely), SPAR, cash machine, 2 pubs which area family friendly.
5 miles away in the other direction to the Oakley Arms pub for food - well worth a visit! - fantastic base for anyone wanting to use the train service which goes from the village to Pwllheli, Harlech, Barmouth, day out to Haven in Hafan y Mor.
A great laugh and fabulous holiday time to come, can't wait to go back. Visit and you'll want to return, I can guarantee you that.

We read the reviews to this site beforehand and even after reading some negative feedback it did not put us off camping there.
This site does need some modernisation in areas and Stuart the site manager is very passionate about this site and is slowly paying attention to the minor details.
Overall we loved it there and our kids did not want to come home.
We will be back hopefully this year and I will be taking a fishing rod to try some fishing on the beautiful lake.

Just enjoyed a 4 night stay at site, and was impressed at value for money per pitch. For caravans, site has all facilities needed and some more ! many thanks to Stuart for help with T.V aerial wire which he sorted to connect to sites hook up.
This was done in pouring down rain at a untimely hour ! the previous day we noticed him helping our neighbours with their awning who had odd poles, he provided them with spare poles which he happened to have on hand ! all done in pouring rain ! honestly, he went beyond what you would expect of a site manager.
Great location and area to explore.
Mountains of Snowdonia 15 minute drive, Beaches and Coast 10 minutes, Take your pick.
Would recommend site to anyone.
Only negative :- Showers £1 ! sort it out Stuart! I know you will !
Will be back.

Well what a site to remember I read reviews first and thought we would give it a chance spoke to site manager Stuart who was very helpful as I am disabled.
He arranged for me to have pitch by toilet and shower block it was a very good pitch like the rest enough room not only to put caravan but awning as well on slate patch.
We got their and was very surprised how well the site was kept so clean and tidy credit to Stuart.
After booking in Stuart not only showed us to our pitch but also helped set caravan and our awning up for us.
He then gave us his own mobile and said any problems please don't hesitate ring me at any time.
We had booked in for 4 nights but so good stayed 5 we also had friends come for the day so impressed they stayed two nights themselves.
The scenery with the forest and the sounds of the fesiniog railway climbing the mountain where marvellous.
It was just so relaxing and the people on the site all where so friendly and helpful.
We just can't wait to go back their next year.
The only downside was for disabled the toilet block and showers where up a steep ramp and I could not get up on my Electric scooter but that was the only minus.
The rest of site and the way people are their far outweighed one small problem we met one guy who had been on site since 1966 and is still keeping his van their all year and he was 72.
He told me he enjoyed the people the help Stuart gave and the fishing in the lake their kept him coming back each year.
It was so friendly the chicken used to come and visit each morning and let you pick him up to stroke him.
If you love lovely quiet Campsite with lovely views then this site really is worth a visit hard to get TV signal but no problem Stuart just lends you TV cable to plug into mains box and you get excellent reception.

Blaen Cefn Camping site improves every time that we have visited. And I have been staying over 40 years now, Unbelievable - but true, just ask the same family owners, Gareth & Kerry Jones (Grandson).
But this year (2010) the over-winter upgrades really showed.
The new, and very pretty fishing lake allows wonderful views across the lake and up the valley, of the Cnicht mountain (known as North Wales's 'Matterhorn').
The brand new, additional caravan pitches are also fully loaded and very spacious, replacing an old caravan storage area, etc.
The digital (no analogue now) tv sockets give such a clear picture, even on my 'cheapey' Maplin Stores television. The Manager even offered me loan of an aerial extension cable, and f.O.C. Too! In fact, everything is free on the caravan pitches, except the £1 coin showers which give a good long hot soak without needing top-ups.
The campers and tents are also well provided for, with well drained and freshly cut grass pitches complete with plenty of water taps - and even localised 240v hook-ups (chargeable for tents). Nice bushes and small trees with a pretty stream and little bridge too.
Our children - whom have stayed here for many annual holidays, would have appreciated the lovely safe children's' games and play equipment area.
The local Penrhyndeudraeth High Street village facilities (Davies the Butcher, Spar shop, old fashioned ironmongers, and the great outdoors/fishing/gun shop with knowledgeable owner - Arwyn at Penrhyn Guns, 7 High St, etc.) are all very friendly and convenient.
My favourite pub - The Brondanw Arms at Llanfrothen (known locally as 'Y Ring') - the old landlord has returned with his excellent and reasonably priced dinner menus (children welcome).
And finally, the camping site's owners - the Jones family whom are ever helpful and friendly folk, have now employed an on-site manager (Stuart) to make sure that things are maintained in spotless condition. And he does!
Well recommended. After a month back home, we're still, even now, gob-smacked.
