 We visited early September and so it was busy.
Facilities clean but reminded me of school showers, not at all luxurious. And, closed with barriers 2 hours every day, surely that could be organised better?
Lovely places to visit in the area, we loved Slapton Ley nature reserve and the memorial to the American soldiers about a mile walk away.
Loved nearby Dartmouth which has a motorhome friendly park and ride, we enjoyed Dartmouth castle and a steamer boat ride.
Unlike Salcombe - we really wanted to visit, but the Park and Ride was cars only as was the main car park, we had to leave without stopping.

What can one say that has not been said, One new welsh couple new to the club makes it look so easy as well as the main wardens, calm and collective on a busy Friday night. No Panic shows all the new folks what is available and off they go.
The View is great from my window the sea is calm. Down the village two excellent Pubs but a lovely Church open with books for sale for much needed funds, walk along the beach to the sands and the history of the past is in front of you.
Buses at the bottom of the road to the outside world. Come and see for yourselves.

Stayed at Slapton Sands as part of a Motorhome holiday.
First impressions were of a nice open site with nice views in certain parts of the site. Wardens very friendly especially as I had forgotten to bring my membership card with me !
We had a nice flat pitch and despite the site being really busy it didn’t feel cramped.
I was initially concerned as there is only one shower block and only three showers available however despite it being so busy we never had to queue.
It’s an ideal site to take walks from as there is a lovely walk around the nature reserve next door to the site and we also walked to both Torcross and Strete. We have a dog so the walk on the beach is not great as it’s all pebbles however there is a separate path in both directions to along the seafront which is a much nicer walk.
We ate in The Queens Arms in Slapton on one of the nights and it was excellent. It was exceptionally busy however they were more than accommodating and took everything in their stride. The food was fantastic and I’d highly recommend it.
One thing to note is that we followed the instructions on the website and we are so glad we did ! The recommended route is narrow enough in places but Slapton village would be impossible for a Caravan or Motorhome.

Beautiful campsite with stunning views of the sea set in a spectacular nature reserve. Upon arrival, we were given a choice of electric pitches which were large enough for our tent, awning and car and choose one that overlooked a breath-taking Seaview.
I was very impressed with the cleanliness, practicality and thoughtfulness of the facilities. I enjoyed free hair dryers, free showers and particularly liked that in each shower cubicle was a shower curtain to keep the rest of the unit dry, a stool and actually enough hooks to hang everything off the floor.
Even better there are private dressing cubicles to use after your shower each has a vanity mirror and wash basin to use while you dry and dress, apply makeup, brush teeth etc at your leisure without holding up use of the showers. The camp is very well kept with colourful hanging baskets with secure key codes to enter the site.
There is a small shop in reception with basics with Lidl and Sainsbury’s only 5/10 mins down the road. The site is close to Dartmouth and its picturesque marina and charming car ferry crossing (£8. 00 return). We found an amazing little alfresco seafood restaurant called the Oyster shack just down the road, close to Bigbury on Sea, across a causeway when the tide is out.
We spent a sunny afternoon at the nautical themed shack tucking into fresh Oysters, enormous brown crabs and a chilled bottle of wine – happy days! (Best to book in advance though its gets very busy). Also in the area was Greenway (National Trust) the home of Agatha Christie (5 miles from camp- parking is free but on a pre-booked system best call in advance) we listened to an actual recorded interview of Agatha (enormous fan!) and Coleton Fishacre a 24-acre garden and a house in the Arts and Crafts style at Kingswear (National Trust -about 12 miles away) which are definitely worth visiting.
The beaches opposite the camp are beautiful but pebbly – footwear or swimming shoes are a must). A few miles down the road at Bigbury on Sea there are miles of lovely sandy beaches sprinkled with exciting rock pools overlooking the quirky Burgh Island with its one of kind antique sea tractor/bus and famous Pilchard Inn pub and art deco hotel. You can walk to the island when the tide is out for a sandwich and drink at the Pilchard or you can dress for dinner (Black Tie) and step back in time at the very grand Burgh Island Hotel. We didn't manage to see half of the attractions that we planned to, I would recommend this comfortable camp as a base to tour Devon and shall be visiting it again soon I hope.

Loved this site. As others have stated don't trust satnav (applies for all south Devon!) and stick to main roads. Had a grass only pitch with sea views with a hedge behind as a windbreak, perfect. We planned to stay 4 nights and move on but there was so much to do in the area stayed for 10!
2 pubs within easy walking distance of the site, one posher than the other but both good. You pays your money and takes your choice. Excellent bus service along coast road, 10 mins walk from site, takes you into Dartmouth or Kingsbridge. Highlights of our time there? Dartmouth steam railway, Burgh Island, Salcombe, walk from site to Torcross and Dartmoor to name but a few. Will definitely visit again but too far from home, for us, for a weekend visit unfortunately.

Don't rely on sat Nav to get you here, it will take you down some scary narrow lanes! Use the main A379. The site is well cared for, slightly sloping with amazing views. Showers were hot and facilities clean and well tended. Easy walk into village, we ate at the Tower Inn. Very cute, tucked away, enjoyed a drink in the sunshine followed by a lovely meal in the candlelit dining room - not cheap though. Lovely walks along the coast to Torcross or Dartmouth. Great bus service also. It was August so very busy, so the limited number of loos and showers meant having to wait sometimes, a bit of a shock to the husband, men don't often have to queue for the loo!

Positives very near the beach, beautiful coastal walk to beesands, saw a seal, nature reserve was a joy to walk around.
Negatives dog walk very dirty and very small (dog owners did not pick up poo). Not enough showers 3 in total but six behind door washing facilities, if you do not get up early be prepared to queue. I understand that this is a family site but wardens did not reinforce no ball games or riding around toilet blocks. Very dissapointed
Also PLEASE do not follow sat nav you will get stuck very small lanes ext through village

We'd visited this site about ten years ago and on our most recent 10 day stop, we found it to be even better than we remembered.
There is plenty of space and many of the pitches have a view of the coast across the fields. The site is kept extremely clean and tidy and very well maintained. This includes the showers, toilets and washing facilities (not once did I see the remains of somebody else's dinner left in the bottom of the sink, which is never very nice). And this was at a very busy time of year. Added to this was a constant supply of hot water throughout the day (no rush to get to the showers before it runs out, which often is the case). Admittedly there was a bit of a queue at times for showers, but this is only be expected given that it appeared to be at near full capacity for most of our stay.
The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. They clearly work very hard to provide an excellent campsite. The only slight criticism is that pitches are advertised as available from 1pm, although the details for what to do as there were no staff about were a bit lacking. We left a message on the answer machine and about 45 mins got a call back - all sorted in the end and the only small flaw we found for the whole stay.
The site shop is stocked sufficiently with the basics to keep you going and the bread van calls every morning, which always results in a long queue!
Although the number of caravans are limited, there were quite a few mobile homes on the site. There was also quite a turnover of pitches on a daily basis, rather than people pitching up for a week or a fortnight.
The location is ideal. You are on the edge of the quaint village of Slapton, which has its own shop and two pubs (one down to earth turning out decent pub grub, the other a more upmarket country pub). A pleasant 10 minute stroll in the opposite direction takes you to Slapton Sands, a pebble beach stretching a couple of miles in length, with clear water crashing onto the shore and big open skies above - wonderful. You can also catch the coastal bus service from here, to either Dartmouth or Kingsbridge, which is worth the journey if only to travel on the top of a double decker bus through the very narrow lanes - don't know how they do it! Behind you is Slapton Ley (a freshwater lake) which only serves to add to this very pretty part of the South Hams coast. The village of Torcross is at one end of the bay, with a very popular pub, two cafes and shops. The beach, although stoney, is lovely and the water very enticing. Stete Gate, at the other end, is a lovely very large beach, with facilities on hand and about a 30 min walk from the site.
Overall, a very well looked after site, with good facilities and in an excellent location. And wonderful views of the sea - what more could you want?

One of my top ten, lovely campsite. Very open to elements so it could get windy. Couple of pubs within walking distance. I advise anyone visiting here to take a bus ride as its astonishing how they go through tiny roads and villages. We ate in both pubs and they were lovely. We visited dartmouth and kingsbridge both had interesting charity shops. The washroom facilities were very good. The wardens were very helpful and let me change my allocated pitch to the vacant pitch I stayed on the previous year. I would recommend and return. Thank you

We stayed here at the end of a week of walking the SW Coast path and after staying at a few 'interesting' sites, I expected more from a C&CC site.
Firstly, the wardens whilst in no way were they rude, they were not very friendly and just very matter of fact. The pitches were quite small and as it was Bank Holiday weekend the site was very full and it felt very overcrowded, almost oppressively so.
The facilities were nowhere near enough to cope, 3 toilets and 3 showers in the mens and I believe similar in the ladies, and the wardens insistence on having ALL the facilities shut for two hours in the middle of the day appear ridiculous. Why not stagger the cleaning of each area and allow people to use disabled/family rooms in emergency.
I know it was a Bank Holiday and start of the half term, but that doesn't mean that parents can simply allow their children to roam around the site at all hours making lots of noise.
Maybe I was simply here at the wrong weekend of the year and to be fair I do normally avoid camping at such times, and the site does have nice views and is in a nice area, so I may return out of season to give it a second chance.
