Friendly welcome from the owners, with clean facilities and flat camping area. Only one sink for washing-up and two toilets which could be a problem if very busy.
Nice and quiet on-site and very scenic being next to the river Wye.
The site's proximity to Builth Wells was good for shopping and pubs etc but the downside was the surrounding roads were quite noisy.
Only other niggle was that we were not told about a bikers music festival at the Royal Welsh show ground when we booked! I would advise checking what is on if you visit this site.

A very nice site next to a river and close to the town centre, with lots of pubs to choose from. The owners were friendly and gave us pitches near the toilets as we had young kids.
We also walked over to the Llanellwedd Arms - to find it shuts on a Saturday afternoon!
We found the site quiet at night with the owners walking round checking everything was ok.
There is plenty of room for kids to play football, once one started others joined in and they had great fun.
I wouldn't go back here as a first choice as it was quite expensive.

We were 7 couples who have just returned from a Bank Holiday. We found this campsite to be well kept and adequate for our needs. Hot showers, clean toilets, hairdryer.
I would say that the sink outside to wash dishes could do with a wooden fence or wall next to it as the wind was blowing through the wire fence and was absolutely freezing.
The owners are really pleasant and check around the site every night to check all is okay. I will admit he did ask us to quieten down - but with 14 of us it was a little bit difficult.!
The town is approx 5 minute walk and there was plenty going on. If anyone is going to the Royal Welsh I can recommend this campsite.

Lovely campsite, run by lovely couple. Always a pleasure to return. Have been coming here for 5 years. Clean and warm washrooms, Mop always at hand for people to use after they have showered! washing up sink, yes, could do with light and cover. But work is still going on here. Lovely quiet site with good local shopping nearby. Very busy during the Royal Welsh Week.

Although the campsite is only 400meters from the shops, pubs and cafes of Builth Wells town centre the White House campsite beside the Wye provided us with three peaceful days camping directly by the river, watching its wildlife and fly-fishermen. A line of trees provides shelter from the prevailing south-westerly winds. We neither saw nor felt any midges or mosquitoes. Our pitch area was level, the grass had recently been cut and the ground wasn’t hard. One movable trestle table was available. There was plenty of room during our stay but the Royal Welsh Showground is just across the river so a call or website check for large events might be worthwhile. Ditto the campsite as organised rallies sometimes book.
Ample showers and toilets share the same building and were free, clean and well stocked. A few more hooks would help but as this is such a common gripe I now take a wire over-the-door hook. As another reviewer pointed out, the outside pot-wash area needs a light and a canopy.
The owners, David and Ann Morgan, were very helpful and (unasked) suggested we might want to keep our bikes dry, safe and out of sight in their barn overnight. The two pubs they recommended both provided good food at reasonable prices. The Llanelwedd Arms Hotel is visible across the river from the campsite and served good home cooked meals. The bar was relaxed but lacked atmosphere. The Greyhound suited us better and also had a good selection of food and local ales. We happened to be there on a Monday evening when the Builth Wells Male Voice Choir practice at the back of the hotel before coming into the bar for a few pints and a sing. Brilliant! Both pubs and the choir have websites. The area has cycle routes and footpaths to work off the food and drink and the 136 mile Wye Valley Walk passes through the town.
We enjoyed our stay and I hope to get time for another break there before the summer ends.

We camped here for 2 nights recently (2 adults, 2 children) cost £23 a night with EHU which is about the norm slightly disappointed with the showers / toilets / washing up area for this money as we have stayed on sites with a better finish to the facilities for the same or less money.
The camp site is a very short walk away from the town centre which has all you would need shop/pubs etc. We were pitched right on the edge of the site near to the river, there are fantastic views and I felt that the kids were safe.
There was quite a bit of shouting in the distance in the middle of the night, not on site I think it came from the road but couldn't be sure I couldn’t settle back down until I was sure they had passed us.
Good points-
Location brill, stunning. Owners lovely, very pleasant.
Bad points-
Showers, lack of power Dish washing outside with no cover and no light. Ok in the sun/warm but wouldn’t like washing up in the rain. Grass not cut recently (petty I know but even kids commented) Hot water in basins way to hot, be careful with young children.
Would return but not as a 1st choice. If price reflected the facilities more I'm sure they would be packed out. For most of the time we were the only tent.

Our first camping holiday. Really enjoyed it. Great facilities, clean showers (3 showers in the womans) and plenty of hot water. Hook ups and Washing up area also (gets busy peak times) Camped right on the river. Not too noisy. I think it would have been quieter if it wasn't for the bikers festival that was on! Only set back really. Also no playground or facilities for children
Builth wells is lovely. Small town, plenty of pubs and places to eat (Indian, Chinese, pub grub and fish and chips) Two mini supermarkets (Spar and CO-OP) Great for walking and well worth a drive to Abergwesyn.
Couldn't really find any faults as it was perfect for what we wanted. Definitely going back next month.

We have just come back from spending 6 days at this campsite. This is a small campsite, very quiet with the usual facilities, i.e.
Toilets, showers, water, electric, chemical disposal point etc. Firstly toilets very clean and showers were really great, lots of hot water and good power from the showers, these were free. In the ladies there were 3 of each, as it was very quiet I had no problem having shower whenever, I suppose if it was really busy you may have to wait.
People who run the site were lovely. Campsite right alongside river and just a very short walk to Builth Wells high street which has 2 smallish supermarkets, a really nice shopping street which had all the sort of shops you would need and a few lovely gift type shops.
We were able to let our two boisterous boxers off in a designated fenced off field on the campsite which was massive and great for them. If you like to go to the Royal Welsh show this campsite is the one, it is literally about a 5 minute walk to the showground.
The tariff we thought was reasonable considering it is July/Aug. £15 a night for caravan, 2 adults, electric, awning and 2 dogs. All in all a lovely quiet campsite which we enjoyed, nothing negative to report. We would go again.

I should have been alerted when this was the only campsite I could get on over the Bank Holiday weekend. We arrived on Saturday and the owners welcomed us. They are a very pleasant couple. There were quite a few bikers and loud music was being played. I began to feel alarmed when an unmarked police car patrolled the site. However, the owners spoke to the music lovers and the rest of the weekend was very quiet. Another plus was the fact that it is an easy stroll into the town where there is a very good Spar - ideal for campers. The downside? The toilet block was not cleaned all the time we were there and by Monday morning was quite revolting. We left even though we had paid for another night. If this site is to be run as a business then the toilet block has to be immaculate and, with so many people, has to be cleaned at least once a day if not more often. We will not be going back, I'm afraid.

Had a lovely 2 night stay here. Friendly owners. Good, clean toilet block, with showers and hairdryer. Very hot water (be careful!). The site is right by the river, with lovely views over to the Brecons. The Spar in town is open on Sundays, which is useful! Just round the corner from Wyeside Arts Centre which has really good live acts & cinema. Highly recommended!
