Just back from a visit to the Vendee & Brittany. Stayed 3 nights here, fab big campsite, loads of waterslides & pools for kids. There was the 2 of us & 15 yr old daughter in our Vango Icarus 500.
The pitch was gorgeous, big & right on the river - we arrived on a Friday & still got a choice of pitches. Hired a canoe for 10 euros an hour which was great, toilets clean & never had to queue, shop ok but better to go to supermarket at Quimperle, good bar, never tried restaurant, lots of big tour operators here - english widely spoken - but knew to expect that anyway
Cost 120 euros for 3 nights w/o electricity but it was good - would go back. Did not get noisy til after 9am which I quite liked! Pools open til 9.30pm too which was good.

Had an excellent time at Le Ty Nadan. We booked direct with the site via email and right from the point of booking had excellent service from English speaking staff. On arrival day, we arrived early but this wasn’t a problem to them. A warm welcome from the reception staff who just booked us in and allowed use to pitch our tent. We were located in the new section, on a pitch at the side of the river with a nice amount of shaded area and a picnic table. Electric hook-up was located two pitches away with four points on each box – two 16amp Blue round sockets and two European 3 pin sockets. Its worth taking a European to 16amp adaptor, just in case you arrive and the 16amp sockets are in use.
The toilet and shower blocks were very clean with plenty of hot water. In front of the shower bock there are 8 kitchen sinks with drainers and unlimited amounts of hot water for washing up. Chemical toilet empting facilities were also available in the gent’s toilets. Also coin operated washing machines are available if required.
The swimming pools opened in the morning at 9:30 for the outdoor and 10:00 for the indoor. We went each morning to the use the spa and found that although 10:00 was the advertised opening times, 10:30 was more realistic time. A section of the indoor pool was always roped off for swimming lessons (about 1/3) but the temperature of the water was very nice. The outdoor pools were also heated and although not as warm as the indoor, still a nice temperature. The one outdoor pool had 5 slides which was a real bonus for the kids.
We had two teenagers with us and only saw them at meal times. They went swimming in the morning, did an activity in the afternoon and then swimming afterward and then in the evening made friends over the pool tables, table tennis, basket ball, etc. In fact they both came back needing a holiday to recover from their holiday social live they had!
The prices for the activities, we thought were very reasonable. A well stocked shop offered the basics at reasonable prices and in some cases cheaper than the local supermarkets. Some form of entertainment was available each evening: A live group, Karaoke, Bingo, etc
The site is very family friendly with a warm nice atmosphere. Kept very clean with the toilet and shower blocks being cleaned several times a day.
One word of warning – The local police liked to sit on the bend in the road by the river bridge just outside the camp site with a speed gun. Almost all the traffic on the road is holiday makers from the camp site and the speed limit down to the bridge is 30kpm. We walked down the road and saw them so didn’t fall into the trap. But we did see loads get pulled.

The site is composed of an older area with older style toilet blocks that were in need of modernising and with lots of pitches crammed in together. The newer area seemed to have larger pitches and a much nicer toilet block. They also had taps at more regular intervals between pitches. We were placed in the older area, but luckily we did have one of the better pitches which overlooked the river (though I would still have preferred to have been in the newer area). Either way, it the site was just about full to capacity and I never once had to queue for the toilet or a shower.
On arrival at the site we were given a warm greeting by the reception staff, all of whom spoke excellent English. We wound our way around the narrow lanes (I would not recommend attempting this with a caravan)and found the pitch. There were not enough electric sockets for everybody, and we had to return to reception for them to sort this out - the maintenance man just put in a splitter plug so that we shared out electric with another unit: it seemed that this was the norm, as there were more units requiring EHU than there were points for them to plug into.
The shop was well stocked, and there is a take-away and restaurant (we never eat there, but friends that did said that the food wasn't that good).
Because the site is quite a way from the nearest town, most people stayed on site. This meant that althougth the swimming pools were great, they were packed. Equally, we did enquire about the adventure park (not cheap when you've already paid a premium price for the pitch), but this was fully booked.
We did swim in the river (which was free!)and a nice touch was the badminton/volley ball nets that were put up at various positions in the site.
I have to say that personally I would not go back, but this is because I prefer smaller, quieter sites; we went here because the friends we were travelling with had teenage children and we thought they may get bored. As it was, they would have been fine without all the activities / entertainment that was on offer. We did have rain, and there was a covered area for people to play badminton, rock climb etc. (again some of these came with a price tag).

We visited Ty Nadan in early August with our 2 kids age 4 and 6, staying in a Canvas ready-erected tent.
The site is lovely, very pretty and well shaded - apart from the pool area where there was no shade and a shortage of sun loungers. The pool was a lovely temperature (unlike other sites we visited) and the indoor pool would have been a godsend if the weather had been bad.
The facilities were good and it was reasonably priced for activities.
We found the emplacements very small compared to the other sites we have visited in France - no room for car and sun loungers and just enough room for a table out front. There were a lot of independant campers and the Canvas tents were scattered around the site - so it wasn't as good as other sites for the kids meeting other kids - everyone around us had teenagers and were dutch.
Our daughter injured herself on the trampoline so was put in plaster (beware, she hadn't actually broken it - but apparently its policy to plaster under-8's). When the accident happened the Canvas reps were useless (wouldn't answer their phone even though we could see them in their tent!), but the campsite reception staff pointed us to the hospital which seemed pretty efficient.
Once she was in plaster it became a nightmare trying to get her to the toilets etc. Canvas loaned us a buggy, but she was a bit too heavy and there were lots of tree roots to push her over so we left a couple of days early.
Interestingly at our next site (L'Atlantique) we met two more children who had been injured on the trampoline at Ty Nadan - one with a broken arm and one with a broken leg. In our case our daughter just fallen awkwardly, but it wasn't supervised and one of the other children had been bounced off it by teenagers mucking about who weren't supposed to be on it at all.
We would definitely revisit Ty Nadan - but maybe when the kids are a bit older as we felt it was better suited to teenagers.

We have used this site regularly for about 5 years, says it all really.
A great place where you can wave the kids off knowing there will be lots to amuse them and they will be safe.
We now have a house about 20 minutes drive away and yet we still go to Ty nadan for a couple of days occasionally as a

This is a beautifully located campsite on the banks of the river Elle. We had a lovely, large pitch opposite the river and relatively near the newer shower block and a small playground. It was quite a walk from the pool and bar but that made it very quiet in the evening. The toilet blocks nearer the bar and pool had definitely seen better days and really need replacing plus the site was heavily wooded and more cramped in these areas. The indoor pool was very nice but we were less keen on the outside pools as there seemed to be a lot of concrete and the tiles around the older rectangular pool were very slippery when wet. Also, as the area was surrounded by tall trees there were often lots of bits in the pools. The range of activities on offer was fantastic and pretty good value. Our kids aged 7,9 and 11 at the time particularly enjoyed the kayaking, quad biking and tree climbing. Evening entertainment was fairly low key but sometimes it was hard to get a table in the bar area. We had a very enjoyable holiday overall although the weather was not brilliant. We did however sometimes find it cloudy at the site and yet clear blue skies at the beach. We also found the behaviour of some of our fellow Brits less than endearing at times - for example leaving huge amounts of litter by the pool etc.

Brilliant! We had a great 2 weeks around Easter this year and we'll definitely go back. The activities available are fantastic by any standards and superbly run. We enjoyed rock climbing, treetop high ropes, quads, archery, riding, canoeing, badminton, riverside walks and the best indoor pool complex I've ever seen on a camp site. The activities were very reasonable in price too. Add this to well-managed facilities and a very helpful staff and Ty Nadan is a superb facility. The location is spectacular on the banks of the river, but it is about 25 mins from the coast. The nearest town is Quimperle, not known for its beauty or facilities, but there's a decent hypermarket to top up the BBQ and you're close enough to Lorient and Concarneau for anything more. Highly recommended.

We visited this site for 16 nights at the end of July/August this year as we have used les castels sites before. We found the site very busy and the mobile homes were squashed in and were a little like butlins. There were one set on new washing facilities but there are also two sets of older style facilities which are used mainly for the touring pitches. These were not of the standard expected by a four star campsite and let the campsite down. There are so many activities to do that children from 8 - 18yrs are very happy and these are well run, but there is little available for younger children and at night it was a little noisy and not very well patrolled by the security staff. Our pitch was situated by the river and was of a good size with enough shelter and nicely hedged with electricity and plenty of water taps nearby. The restaurant was good but a little overpriced, the pools were good if a little unclean at times and the indoor pool was warm enough but had a shallow end of 1.30m so my 7yr old was out of his depth but the showers were clean and hot. We would return to this site in a couple of years time if we could choose our pitch and hopefully by then they would have improved the toilet facilities.

Just returned home from a splendid 8 days at Ty Nadan. Located in deep wooded countryside on the banks of the river Elle. 20 mins from An Oriant/Lorient, 10 minutes from Kemperle/Quimperle. Excellent site with superbly run activities. Tried a morning hike of about 6 miles in 3 hours through wooded glades and river banks. Wonderful. Tried a 3 hour canoeing trip to Kemperle which was great fun with a guide to advise on getting through odd bits of half hearted white water. A good family day out. Went to a couple of evening activities which were well run - quiz, craft fair etc Others seemed to enjoy the paintball, archery, and quads, Horses available (to ride). Swimming pools and slides very good including a large indoor pool and jacuzzi. Clean and well managed. 2 drawbacks with the site - Huge pressure on facilities such as badminton and table tennis made it almost impossible to get a game (added to that some mindless English teenagers who rode their bikes over the courts as people played). Toilet blocks looked dated and were not easy to keep clean given the sheer numbers of users. Poor surfaced tiles on the floor and 70s design did not make them attractive to use. Given the sheer numbers of campers and the cost of the site (over £40 per night) would expect a major investment soon in the toilet and shower blocks. Would return to what is a lovely area and an excellent family campsite.

We were there for a week at the beginning of June, with ourcaravan, last year we stayed there for 2 weeks in a static. As far as Iknow all of the touring/tent pitches are a comfortable distance awayfrom the facilities which are all centred to the right of the site asyou enter. If the toilet facilities are important to you they have anice new block to the left hand side as you come in (the 'up river'end. It probably a bit quieter up that end as well. We had a pitchopposite a small green that runs alongside the river where they alsohave a man-made river beach. Our kids loved to play on the jettycatching small fish etc and on the beach. The pool facilities aresecond to none, they also have a covered games area with table tennisand badminton which also doubles as a small cinema where they showchildren's films once or twice a week. There are plenty of organisedactivities at a reasonable cost, we like it there and the kids lovedit.
