Me and my other half visited this campsite about two years ago so we had hoped that some changes had been made.
Positives
- Useful site for base if you were attending the Tewkesbury Medieval Festival.
- Pleasant enough site, fairly quiet.
- Allowed camp fires.
- Pitches were in good condition.
- Owners were friendly enough.
Now the Negatives.
- Dog barking from an adjacent house to the campsite continually throughout a twenty four hour preiod, yes even at four o'clock in the morning so disturbed bothe mine and my wife's sleep.
- Someone had previously put in a review that the showers had been upgraded. Where? The toliet block resembled exactly the same thing I saw two years previously except with maybe a lick of paint and less spiders.
- No soap for the washbasins or anywhere to dry your hands.
- Only one hook per shower to hand clothes towels up which meant throwing clothes over the door, thus possible security risk.
- For £14 per night, I expect a lot more, yet I had to pay 20p for the shower with a very poor water pressure and my wife saying that her shower had stopped after a few minutes so she ended up rinsing her hair in the hand basin. (I know other sites I have been to, that charge less and the showers were free!).
- But what stunned me was that I was charged 40p to have my freezer blocks put in the freezer overnight. Previously this has been free of charge
- One washing up sink is not enough and unfortunately this was the case but the positioning of it is inappropriate. Right by the ladies toilet entrance. Doesn't really give much privacy.
- No onsite shop. Had to drive into Tewkesbury to get a paper.
Recommendations.
Well I think this will be the last time I attend unless what I feel certain changes could be made.
1. Need to talk to neighbour about the dog being a noise nuisance with it's continual barking. There are laws that cover this. It's bad for business and friends who were with us found this very off putting.
2. The shower block needs completely revamping or rebuilding as well as the 20p charge for taking a shower removing. Nearly the majority of people I observed were washing in the wash basins.
3. To pay to keep your ice packs cold is rather cheeky cosindering the price that is paid. If you're staying for five days and you have as many as ten ice packs that £2.00 per day. Ends up expensive. Why were we charged now when previously this was free?
4. More washing up sinks needed, even if it's doubled to two! My friends waited 30 minutes to get to the sink to wash up which delayed them going out.
5. Finally, it might be nice to have an onsite shop or failing that maybe offering a newspaper service.
I'm almost certain that when we attend for the Festival next year, we'll be looking for a different site unless modifications are made. I've tried very hard to be as constructive with my criticism as possible & I hope that my thoughts are taken on board.

Oh dear, oh dear back at Sunset View again after 2 years for the Medieval Fayre weekend. Quite hopeful after reading Dome and others reviews that things would have improved - they haven't.
The owners are still charging 20p for the showers, they charge £14 per night without hookup
The shower I took this morning was STONE COLD - so I paid my 20p to catch pneumonia. There was also no paper towels in the ladies toilets for the whole weekend, so wet hands had to be dried on Jeans or toilet paper.
The owners are also now charging 20p per block, to freeze ice blocks - a new charge since last time we were here.
Also if you are going - take ear plugs as there is a barking dog in the nearby road - that kept most of our party of 6 awake by barking on and off ALL night. Now I know that isn't directly the campsites fault, but surely they could say something to the owners of the dog.
This time it will definitely be our last stay at this site - we have been here about 4-5 times now and stuck with it in the hope that it would get better & they do allow campfires - but no more enough is enough, we'll be looking for a new home for our Tewkesbury excursion next year!

We went bank holiday me 45, my wife 40 and 12 year old girl in our caravan and my son and his girl friend in a tent for their first time. We had a great time, the people on the site were friendly. The site owners were very nice people who came to the rescue when we realised our electric cable was not working and kindly loaned us one. Also when my wife badly cut her hand it was nice to know they were also first aiders.
Toilet blocks were basic but you dont spend all your time in the toilet block! Nicely set out site, very tidy and children were made welcome and made new friends and wherever they played we could see them. Relaxed site, ideal base for relaxing weekends, bbqss, walking, local places to visit i.e tewkesbury, malverns, upton on severn. Local pub short walk away, good beer and food. Will definitely visit site again .Would recommend to couples and families who want to relax. Caravanning is what you make it.

This is a very flat grassy site, the toilet blocks have been refurbished and at present there are 3 ladies toilets and 3 hand wash basins with very hot water, there was always toilet paper in the toilets and paper hand towels next to basins. There was 1 washing up sink again with good hot water. This is a lovely quiet site, there are also 3 Ostriches to see, they were sat on a large clutch of eggs when we were there, great fun to watch! There is a pub just a few yards up the road but it is not dog friendly and since my friend and I had 4 dogs between us that did not help. It is about 2miles+ to Twyning fleet pub right by the side of the river with a large garden, but worth the effort to get there. We would go to this site again, the ONLY drawer back that we could see was the constant barking of an Alsatian Dog on the opposite side of the road to the site every time someone entered or left our park, and when actually passing could be quite menacing, and we are responsible dog lovers and owners!, but that aside go and try and enjoy.

Visited Sunset View during May 2007, small site about 1.5 miles from town , 1/2 hour walk, pavement all the way so no traffic problems, cyclist should beware the road to town is a very fast road and the traffic is heavy at times. The site is fairly level and busy. The facilities are a bit primitive, 2 showers [20p] 2 toilet facilities really could do wth a major work over.not enough showers for a full site. No clothes hooks inside the cubicle so you either have to throw your clothes over the door or leave them outside, not very clever if there are children about Doubtful if we'll return , but a lot of people like the place

We left it too late to book anywhere for the bank holiday weekend and this site was the only one we found who could accommodate us and 2 other pitches for our friends. We had to pay for 3 nights, even though we only could stay for 2 nights, but it was there or nowhere!
Friendly and helpful owners. A nice, quiet site. Even though it was fully booked it didn't seem too busy. The facillities could be improved. They were very clean but having only one washing up sink, could've done with a couple more with hotter water!
Tewkesbury is only a few minutes drive away and the abbey is well worth a visit.
I would recommend this site if you want a bit of peace rather than bar/clubhouse/entertainment etc. Theres no play area but the 6 children in our group entertained themselves!

Only place we could find that had availability at the last minute for the bank holiday weekend. Spacious pitches and my two children 4 & 6 loved the Ostriches. Facilities adequate - on the last day the toilets ran out of toilet paper, but apart from that they were always clean. You have to pay 20p for a shower, which only lasts 5 minutes - so I normally used 40p if I wanted to wash my hair as the pressure was not great. It was great for the kids who were all able to play in the centre of field in view of the tents. V close to Tewkesbury town and about 10mins from Gloucester. Black Bear pub in Tewkesbury is a fab pub if you have children - predominantly non smoking and good children's menus. Would consider going back.

Just returned from what has become an annual trip to this site - however I think it may be the last. The toilet block has now become very tired and is definitely in need of a bit of modernisation (or at the least a coat of paint!) - there were also no hand towels in either ladies or gents for the whole weekend. My hubbie also commented that he had to clean the one toilet (there are only 2) in the gents before he could use it. The prices have also gone up since last year and I now think that £12 per night (+ cost of shower) is expensive for what you get, especially when compared to other sites we have been to lately where you get more/better facilities for less money. The owners are still very helpful and friendly, but I think we may be looking elsewhere for our Tewkesbury visit next year!

We've stayed here with friends for the last couple of years and are hoping to return for a few days over the Tewkesbury medieval festival in July 2006. Facilities adequate and clean and owners always very helpful - never seen the site crowded and we have always had plenty of room. They unofficially allow campfires as well - as long as you keep it off the grass.

We always stop here for a night on our way down the M5. For one night it is perfectly adequate - two showers - 20p and three toilets in the ladies. No play area for the kids. Big field - no statics. The farm is an ostrich farm - there are two females and a male and usually eggs/chicks/bigger ones to see! Very convenient for M5!
