Loree Du Bois is an impressive campsite with a recently extended pool & slide complex. The communal shower blocks were always clean and there were sufficient so that we never queued for a toilet, shower or washing up spot. The only possible criticism would be that those of a larger size - think of people you wouldn't want to sit next to on a plane - might struggle with the shower door arrangements. I echo the comments about the shop & on-site restaurant, both are above average. Pitch 41 floods. We were on it & after 14 hours of continual rain we were 3" deep in water. However with the help of a few strategically sited holes it dried within 4 hours. The rest of the site seemed fine we were just unlucky with the weather. That's camping. A pair of families we got talking to were unhappy that the adjacent pitches they had booked weren't as adjacent as they wanted - and I could see their point. The Indian Forest adventure park has already been mentioned & our kids loved it. The nearby Cote Savage lived up to it's name & we've two new surfers to show for it. La Palmyre is a lovely little town with a good market & plenty of spots for eating & drinking. The cycle paths that Cris-cross the area are first class & there are plenty of forest paths you can also use. In short we're certain to return to the area soon & would seriously consider rebooking this site. It is easily reachable in a day from Le Havre following an overnight crossing with LD Lines.

We chose this site for the individual toilets/showers which are on 40 of the touring pitches. It was worth the extra money, they are an absolute godsend. The toilet and shower blocks are spotless and you never have to queue. The pitches vary, some are part shady and some are very sandy. We noticed that the regulars bring their own grass (huge mats which resemble artifical grass). Personal BBQ's are not permissible on site but there are communal BBQing areas dotted about. We used our Beauclaire on our pitch without any complaints.
The site offers entertainment to 11:30 every evening which can be quite loud, but very good. The swimming pool is very nice but gets very busy in the afternoons. Trunks must be worn, shorts are not permissible. The on-site shop has an excellent selection of merchandise. There are plenty of things to occupy the kids, including a 5-a-side football pitch, basketball, table tennis, boules area and a kids club. The owner seems nice but doesn't speak a word of English. My school boy French sufficed this year. Reception spoke good English though. If you do have problems communicating, an English couple by the name of Maurice & Carol live on site and are only too willing to help. They rent out mobile homes (www.chez-momo.com) mainly for the British. They are cheaper than going through the campsite and the units are better equipped.
Adjacent to the campsite is an adventure park called The Indian Forest and it involves, in a nutshell, climbing through trees on ropes. It's superbly supervised and well worth a visit. People staying at the campsite get a 2 Euro discount. The nearest beach is 5 minutes drive away, but involves a walk of 10 minutes from the car park. They are very clean. Ensure that get there well before midday before the hordes of locals decend. Palmyre Zoo is also a good day out, but the local traffic gets very busy.
