Stayed there for the third time (2007, 2008, 2009).
Still fantastic views on many pitches, picnic area is terrific, and we could choose our own pitch.
Facilities were clean this time (2009), as it was in 2007. 2008 was maybe a bad year, you can see the improvement. There is a toilet/shower-block at the entrance as well.
An idea for improvement would be a boulangerie-service, you have to buy your baguette in the town (1,5 km) by yourself.
The staff was a bit more committed in 2006. It was OK this year, but not outstanding helpful.
Would definitely recommend the site because of the views and the nice little shops in Sully.

After reading the reviews here, we used the site as an overnighter to/from the South of France. We camped next to the river, and had fantastic views.
Minuses ….The site was not up to the same standard as our over nighter in Calais at Chateau Du Gandspette, but was an ffp as an over nighter – and to be fair it was reflected in the price. At peak times there were small queues for the showers and toilets. The facilities were dated but clean. There was a European style toilet next to the tent pitches, I was ok using it, but the wife point blank refused – LOL …. The shower was dated, and rather “puney”.
Pluses …The location+views of the site was fantastic, we walked the short distance over the river to Sully (15 mins walk with small kids), and ate at a very good quality and good value Pizzeria across from the Chateaux.
However the thing that made this trip so worth while was seeing the Beavers grazing in the Loire. This was absolutely priceless. There was a couple of mid sized supermarkets nearby, and a host of high quality trad food shops in Sully.
So in summary, a fantastic location, good tent pitches and good value.

We used this site for one night 3/1/09-4/1/09 on route to Spain nice location next to the Loire but the toilets and showers were a bit grim and definitely need updating .
The town is worth visiting and is about a 10 - 15 min walk along the riverbank where you will find a good selection of shops and a super you supermarket

Pleasant site, on the banks of the Loire, mozzies a bit of a problem. Nice walk to Sully - interesting small town with several good restaurants and shops etc. Alternatively, 15min walk to large U-mart supermart. Staff friendly, some facilities not open (mid June), mini golf free. Good walk along river path in both directions, but a bit rough for cycling.

Spent a wet but enjoyable 6 days at this site in August with our 2 little ones.
Really lovely, quiet site on the banks of the Loire. Although it rained (a lot) the sandy ground held up well until the last day.
We were delighted with our pitch (you choose your own) but I think we'd have been disappointed if we'd been left with one of those under the trees. Just looked a little gloomy under there to us.
We didn't use the pool or the pizzeria but the kids loved playing by the river and at the playground just off the site.
Shower facilities were good.
Staff at reception were both friendly and helpful although on a few occasions people were waiting around for someone to appear and serve. I think they had quite a relaxed attitude towards staffing reception/the shop.
It was a credit to the site and the surrounding area that the weather didn't ruin our holiday.

Great site, pool playground great. The poor young girl who was left to do everything i.E greet new visitors ,serve in the shop serve in the pizza hut all at the same time, was lovely! The site was spotless, toilets next to reception and terrace bar but there is only one toilet close to the pitches, plenty of showers though! There are no hooks for clothes inside showers, we went in wearing our swimming costumes so we only needed to put towel over top of door. There are plenty of sinks for pot washing. It is in a really lovely area, close to the town of Sully, where there are plenty of shops bars and a good market. The Chateau was closed when we visited looked fantastic from outside though. Lots of beautiful places to visit close by, We would recommend this site, we had a great stay.

We stayed at this campsite for a week in August 2007. The site is situated a short walk from the village Sully Sur Loire which is has a few good restaurants and shops and a very beautiful chateaux. The two supermarkets are a few km away but are very good. The pitches vary in size, ours was adequate but the ground was stoney and hard which made pitching quite difficult. The site is well laid out and has 2 shower/toilet blocks which are very average. They were regularly cleaned but look quite old and shabby. There is a shop that stocks bread, ice cream and wine and a pizzeria on site although the pizza restaurant in the village is fabulous and worth going to if you want a takeaway. The site arranged canoeing on the Loire for us via a third party which was great fun. There are tennis courts, a playground for kids and crazy golf. There is some evening entertainment which we were not aware of when we booked, it was'nt up to much but we prefer the quieter site anyway. Overall as a family, we gave the site 7 out of 10.

What can I say about this jewel of a site situated on the banks of the Loire with good views. The previous review is very accurate although they now have added more showers down at the bottom block, these are brand new and were finished during our stay as was more outdoor washing up area, the showers are outdoors, well tiled and the cubicles are large, The sites owners are very friendly and helpful and have a good use of the English Language, We camped with friends and there children the facilities for them tennis etc. Was excellent didn't see the kids for long periods Hve been to several sites and I have to say this was the best so far. Have already made plans to return next year. The drive down from Calais was straight forward you will need around 30 Euros if using the tolls. And nerves of steel to get around paris! Excellent is the best word to describe this friendly Site.

Very good, quiet site in an idyllic location, the staff was welcoming and helpful and the facilities were kept clean and maintained. It seems though that they’re in the process of updating and upgrading the site. There’s two pools, which although supposedly heated were a little on the chilly side (for adults at least!), you can use the pools whenever you want however there is no lifeguard. There were plenty of other facilities (some seasonal) – takeaway/animation/bicycle hire/free tennis and mini golf/Internet access and WiFi/washing up area/disabled washroom/ubiquitous table tennis. The wash blocks were more than adequate - don’t let the décor put you off! - although the main one down by the tent and caravan pitches only had the one shower (which had no curtain so flooded floors were a bit of an issue especially as there was no slope towards the drain) but there’s a larger block up at reception. But the water was HOT and FREE. Sensitive souls may want to bear in mind that the light times out after a while leaving you to finish your shower in the semi-dark! The two wash cubicles in the ladies had plug points if you want to take hairdryers or any other hair styling equipment! The toilets do have seats and paper, so fear not. The reception was well-stocked with ice-cream, cooled drinks, tourist information and local wines! You could also order bread and croissants. Freezer packs (any size apparently) are only €1. The assault course along the riverbank is worth a laugh and there’s plenty of open space just beyond the campsite for games. At the end of the “park” there’s a big board showing all the local walks (from the main road it’s the right just after the level crossing) and there’s also lots of cycle routes in the area (most seem flat and easy!). The site seems very popular with cyclists and canoeists, either as a base or an overnight. The whole area is teeming with wildlife; birdwatchers etc will love the site. The town and castle is an easy walk away with lots of restaurants/shops/bars and plenty of “beach” along the river. There’s a SuperU (24/7 fuel – cheapest town in the area) just up the road (left at the roundabout) but the Intermarché just further up sells ice in blocks and as cubes. The restaurant next to the Intermarché has a €10 menu (buffet starters, main dish and dessert/cheese), we didn’t use it but the food looked good. Bear in mind though that if you’re planning on touring out to the “main” chateaux that you could be in for a fairly lengthy trek - always overestimate the amount of time it’ll take you to get somewhere! You could easily just stay in the local area as there’s plenty to see and do however. The caravan pitches seem to be virtually fully-serviced with water, EHU and waste provided for each pair of pitches. Tent pitches are all on fairly even ground but mainly under the trees (pros and cons to this but it probably gave us some protection from the gale force wind that suddenly attacked on the last night). We were able to choose our pitch but this could have been because it was a quiet time of year, just be careful where you pitch/park because you could easily block someone in or completely block access to the rest of the pitches! The soil is a definite bonus for anyone in a tent! We were expecting floods and quagmire after severe thunderstorms and torrential rain but it drained within the hour! From the tent pitches, you’re virtually onto the river (big fence, sticky gate and long bank in between so it’s not a huge risk) so it’s a lovely place to pitch. We did have a lot of trouble with insects, mainly spiders (thankfully small varieties but of which we are still TERRIFIED) but this could just have been the time of year and/or the weather. The picnic benches (one per tent pitch) are a nice touch.

Stayed here for 3 nights at the beginning of July. The site has marked pitches and we were not able to choose our own, but allocated one. Not a problem, pitches are generous in size, and we were happy with what we got. Owners very friendly, at the time of our visit they were building a swimming pool, so that should be ready now, and also some, not many, chalets. There is a motorhome service point. There was a small toiletblock near the area we were, separate ladies and gents, with just 1 shower and, I think, a couple of loos, in each, but there was a bigger block near the entrance with quite a few showers, wc's and washbasins. Kept very clean at the time of our visit. Not far is a SuperU with fuel, about 1 or 2 minutes by car. A nice walk over the bridge is Sully-sur-Loire, with its castle, park, shops and restaurants. Great area for cycling, along the river Loire you can cycle for miles in any direction.
