Stayed here for a weekend to try out a Motorbike Track Day at Pembray ~ found the site only a few miles from Pembray so ideal. It’s a lovely site, very level ground, friendly/helpful staff, good facilities, lovely large clean showers, good washing up facilities although water temp a bit low especially in the evening, great idea of the use of a freezer, did not use the shop so cannot say, but everything we wanted was there and worked well. Well lit at night and walkways paved so no wet feet. Residents helpful and chatty. As for the trains we found them unobtrusive and pleasant to hear rumbling past occasionally. Used the site next door for a few meals, which were very reasonable but mainly stayed at site with own food and a BBQ. Made to feel very welcome and would definitely use again. Very good rates too, as everything included in one price, not £1 for this and a £1 for that, which adds up. ~ recommended ~

I have visited Tanylan over the years with a Caravan when my daughters were young up until they were teenagers when we stopped going there as teenagers want to do their own thing.
The improvements to the site are excellent it was good before the changes but now everything is so well thought out from the walkways to the showers and washing up facilities, to the freezers for extra storage which is a such a good idea especially in a tent. We will definitely be visiting again and this time with grandchildren. Our friends and I were very impressed with the site everything was so clean and other campers friendly and courteous. Booking in so easy and teh owners very helpful.

I would agree with many parts of the other reviews for this campsite. There are a number of really good features and some which are challenges.
As stated in another review, it is 2 miles along a single track road with passing places to get to the site - unfortunately I did meet a motorhome coming the other way and had to reverse with the van as he just sat there - not helpful.
The owners however were very helpful as I was on my own with my children and helped me position the van on a lovely level pitch by the children's play area.
It's a short walk to the beach which is fine for rock pools and sandcastles and there is a Park Resort but we did not use it. Lots of great places to visit nearby so days out to Dinefwr, Botanic Gardens and Kidwelly.

We've just returned from a long weekend here which was cut short by the atrocious weather. We had a Montana 6 tent with EHU. The pitches were very large and flat, and the electricity supply was faultless. We were pitched right by the side of the rail track but after a few hours you barely notice the noise.
There were 3 toilets for women, 1 shower in the toilet area itself and 3 mixed showers behind the toilets. A 'washing up' area is supplied with free hot water which also housed a large freezer where guests could store their food and a microwave which was free to use. A park area is available for the young ones. There is a shop on site but it was very basic.
At the back of the field is a tunnel under the rail track, walk through there and you are in a Park resort, although you have to pay to access their club house, swimming pool etc.
Kidwelly was about 5 miles away, a Spar shop was here if you needed any food supplies, Carmarthen town centre about 10 miles away but no shops within walking distance so make sure you stock up.
Overall, a very friendly and totally flat site which we will visit again. Hopefully next time the weather will be with us!

We stayed at this site during August Bank Holiday Monday/Tuesday. The owners of the site we found were friendly however the campers on site were very unruly and were up drinking until very late leaving us unable to get any sleep until the early hours and then were up very early next morning doing much of the same. No wardens came at all to tell anyone to kerb their behaviour, as the site is far away from reception (across a road and down a lane) so they are unaware of the noise
The continuous swearing and extremely bad behaviour by roughly one in four campers spoilt the whole trip and we had enough by 10.30pm Tuesday and packed up as much as we could and went home, collecting the tent the next day.
There is also a train track running right next to the site with trains running about every hour or so which we found very loud and annoying.Rubbish was scattered around the campsite.Toilet blocks were dirty.
All in all,we definitely would not recommend this site as this site

After touring our caravan to various sites for a number of years we found this site. I am pleased to say that myself and my family have now been using this site for the last four years. We find the people are very friendly. The owners are very friendly and approachable. the beach is about 5 minutes away. There is a clubhouse on the Park resort which is located on the opposite site. You can buy weekly passes or just for the weekend if you choose. They have children's entertainment, a resident band and a very wide range of artists to suit everyone taste. There is a lot of slot machine and games to keep the children happy! if you prefer to have a quiet night you can stay at your caravan and have a Barbecue. It is a good spot to stay if you like to explore the surrounding countryside. There are a number of small towns that are quite nearby. There is a train track that runs parallel to the site but to be honest you barley notice the trains unless its the old fashion steam trains which are a pleasure to watch.

As a seasonal resident at Tan-y-lan farm Kidwelly camp site we would like to recommend this site to anyone who would like a stay on a well kept child friendly place. A shower block that has 6 showers one being a family room with baby facilities and disabled access. There is also a utility room for washing drying etc.
It's a great site for a cheap holiday for children where they can make their own fun e.g. there is a safe wooden play area for them and the beach is a 5 minute walk away through the Havensite. there are cockles, mussels etc, on this beach also rockpools so the kids can have hours of fun and weather permiting have a tan as well. There are nice walk areas as well. Also of course the usual barbies where most people will join in and have a bit of fun.Or of course you will find the area is a great centre point if you prefer to have days out.
At the reception Babara or John will only to willing to give you brochures of places to visit and recommend good eating places. They are both very approachable people and anything they can do to make your stay enjoyable is of no trouble to them at all. We love it here and as it's only 1 hour away it's also very convenient for us we would'nt consider going anywhere else.If you do come you will be made very welcome.

Stayed her for 10 nights at the end of August. Access to the site is by a long VERY narrow road, only just wide enough for one car with the occassional passing places. Very hair raising, thank god we didnt come across another caravan. This is a nice laid out site but unfortunately at the time we stayed it was full of Cockle Pickers. There is a nice childrens adventure park and the local railway line runs through the campsite. The trains seem to run from 6am until 12.30pm. The toilets are very basic and there was only 2 ladies showers and 1 mens for the whole site. Most of the tourers are seasonal, not surprising considering the approach road...... The beach is accessed through the Park Resorts site next door. I wouldnt consider it safe for children, as it has a very strong current and is mainly covered in quad bikes, white transit vans and cockle pickers.
