We arrived at twinlakes in July 2013 and we just didn't want to leave, welcomed with a cup of tea ( free of charge) we could park up anywhere, face anyway we liked pay when we left, in fact the site is the most laid back site we have ever stayed on. The shower block was spotless and free, the pool was lovely and clean and free The bar was open every night and afternoons, The Wednesday night quiz was the funniest quiz I have ever been too and they had two pig roasts while we where there, very reasonably priced to, The other half had a super time fishing most afternoons and that was included in the price too. We are going back in 2014 and can't wait.

Very warm welcome from Gary as we arrived on the campsite with an offer of tea or coffee.
We have 8. 5 metre motorhome and Gary gave us a free opportunity to pitch anywhere on a large field which had both electric hook up and water supply.
The campsite is very clean and family run - all staff were pleasant.
Free wifi within bar restaurant area.
My main interest on the campsite was the carp fishing.
No1 Lake can be difficult but patience is a must if you want to catch big carp. Double figure numbers up to 30lb plus.
No2 This lake is really stuffed with carp, from min. 3 meters out from the bank you will catch 8 to 10 ib.
I was using boiles strawberry flavour and carp did take them everytime.
I would recommend Twin Lakes to anyone wishing to fish for carp with no big payouts to fish.
Please bring mats and slings plus scales if you really like carp fishing.
The village/shops are close by.

This is a very much a fisherman's camp site with organised social evenings in the bar at night. Most people seem to know one another and the owner and appear to be regulars. The campsite is very large and with the opportunity to pitch anywhere. The site was fairly busy when we were there. Although the site is large there is only one electric supply post next to the limited main shaded area. This area was taken up when we were there and as we had a dog who needed shade we had to pitch over in the far corner by trees. This meant doing without electric hook up. Two rather old extra extension cables were offered to us to use with our own 20m one but we declined and due to the heat decided to stop two days and then move north for cooler weather.
The good thing about this site is the large area to roam around in which is great if you have a dog. The site is run in a very relaxed way and owner is welcoming and friendly.
The swimming pool is small and was taken up by two or three families with children all day, also a small children's play area. The toilets and washing facilities are a bit rudimentary and the boiler packed up while we were there so there was no hot water on one day. The door to the boiler room was broken and the boiler looked as if it was on its last legs.
There is a more organised caravan and motor home area with hedged areas. There is a fairly fast road nearby which gets busy in the morning.

This was a friendly site, toilets were clean and comfortable, unlimited hot water. Real family feel and although it was our 1st time, everybody seemed to have visited before, we were welcomed whole heartedly. We were given the benefit of the local knowledge, area, restaurants etc. Which enhanced the offer.
It is a small sight but there was something for everyone each night.
The fishing offer is excellent however not being a fisherman, does not exclude from the enjoyment of the sight or the area. Our 8 year old son, put Twinlakes, above Futurescope in his list of favourite things on holiday. We're certainly putting it on our list to revisit.
Thanks to Garry and the crew for a great time.

We stayed at this campsite back in June this year but have vacationed at this site for about 3 years in a row. We love this campsite and have stopped in both our own tent but this time decided to rent a static caravan from Sandra and Garry the site owners.
It had everything we needed for the week we stayed and found it very comfortable and clean. We used all the campsites facilities - pool, lakes, bar. We had the famous pig roast with various salads and home grown pototoes so I'm told. We even tried our hand at fishing for the first time and caught a 17lb carp!
Twinlakes is a great base for exploring both local and farther a field attraction. Lots of local markets, sadly we missed the night market this year but want to return again for a really memorable night. We have visited Royan, saintes, Bordeaux, Saint Emillion and Jonzac to name a few.
I'm sure we will be returning to visit the site again but would recommend it to anyone wanting to have a holiday of complete relaxation.

What a great welcome we got from Sandra and Garry, after 12 hours driving down from Dunkerque, it was great to have a cup of coffee made for you as soon as you arrived.
We made full use of all the facilities (except the fishing) and they were always kept clean and tidy.
The area around was fantastic for our favourite pastime of walking and we visited some beautiful places. Royan was one of our favourites as was the wonderful old city of Bourdeaux.
It was a refreshing break during our drive down towards Valencia and we hope to visit again for a longer stay but with the caravan next time.

The warmest welcome I have ever had in 40 years of camping, the pot of tea made for us by Sandra was really welcome after a long drive. The site is well cared for and the facilities are adequate but may be a bit pushed when the site is full. The lakes seem well stocked with carp and silver fish, we caught quite a few doubles the heaviest was 18lbs. We found the site to be fairly quite most of the time, it has hedged pitches most of which have some shade from trees. The hog roast on Friday evenings was very good value for money, we were lucky enough to enjoy it twice. There are quite a few places of interest within 50 miles or so, Cognac is worth a visit, especially the cognac producers, as is Bordeaux, Blaye is also worth a visit for the citadel and the market.
Montendre has an evening market on a Tuesday with quite a number of food outlets and a normal market on Thursdays. We went on a evening visit to a small cognac producer's vineyard arranged from the campsite which was very interesting specially the sampling at the end.
If you are travelling south or north it is definitely a campsite worth a few days stopover.

We had such a fantastic holiday - Sandra is such a lovely person and is doing a great job running this lovely site. Our pitch was shaded/sunny and enclosed with hedges. There is a pool and also a paddling pool for younger children - the pool complex entry is very secure and safe - younger children can only gain access via an adult. Our girls (aged 14 and 12) had such a great time with the pool, playing pool and even chilling out watching TV!, feeding San's rabbits! The fishing lakes are excellent - hubby caught many fish! The local town, Montendre is very near with supermarkets, market, patisserie, post office and other shops. The BBQ on Friday nights is excellent and we enjoyed the bar area in the evening. This is such a relaxing site and a new toilet block is planned for next year to enhance the on-site facilities. We will be back next year but in a caravan next time. There are statics to hire on site and a good mix of nationalities.

We visited Twin lakes for three nights in April on our way to Portugal and again for three night on our way back in June. We were so taken with this site, and the owner Sandra was fantastic we enjoyed ever minute of our stay with her. This small site has everything the two showers are excellent and pool which we use on the way back was great. The grass was cut and the site in general kept very clean and tidy.the smart bar lovely and food was very good and prices very reasonable for every ones budget. The locals that call in to the site for coffee or drinks say it all it is just so friendly.I would highly recommend this site and Motor home`s were no problem plenty room ours is 7.3 and we had ample space. There is a new toilet block planned for next year and a new area for vans.We also met up with some of our family members there they hired a static van they will certainly be back.Thank you Sandra for the hospitality. We will be back soon.

We spent a week here in Sept 06. What excellent service we were given. The site owners are exceptional people - so easy to get on with and extremely helpful. The site is well laid out and very pleasant - would recommend this to anyone if you enjoy a peaceful time with plenty of room for the kids. Take my advice and give it a go.
