To be honest we were not expecting very much from the main road it looked very small, but as we pulled in it opened up to a very well maintained site, the owner came out to greet and welcome us.
We don't ask for much from any site as long as there is a walk for our dog and that the toilets are clean, we could not fault them on both accounts, the walk was great a well sign posted round the site and dog bins (most sites have a lack of these)the friendly horses in the next field were a nice surprise.
The toilets were very clean, tiles a bit dated but very clean never the less, showers were new and immaculate.
Lots of wild life round the river and an abundance of quite tame rabbits running through the site
There is no doubt that we will return.

Small well kept site, beside river and woodlands. Very clean toilets. Showers hot but slow water flow. The shop has very very few items.
There are a good number of privately owned static caravans and a lot of the pitches for tourers are rented as 'all year' pitches, so best to book, as it is a busy site.
Bus stop at entrance to the site. There is a hotel across the road, with leisure facilities. The road is extremely busy and if turning right, you may have to wait some time, due to heavy traffic. We found this to be a very friendly site.

Just back from a few days break at this quiet site.
Good points -
Easy access to day trips such as the promenade park at Nairn, the beautiful beach at Findhorn, great walk at Culbin were you can climb a tower to see a fantastic view over the Moray Firth, we saw seals at Port Gordon and dolphins at Channory Point (get info from Seal & Dolphin centre at Spey Bay which was worth a visit and has a nice coffee shop)and shore walk at Findochtry. All these activities are free and the campsite was very reasonable at £16 per night for 2 adults, 2 kids & dog.
Near good selection of places to eat & lots of supermarkets.
Not so good -
Shower block needs updating as lighting poor, mens showers very basic & some tiling needs repairing.
Not particularly child friendly if kids over 10 - owner chased our kids from the park having just walked past us - we would have preferred she say something to us directly rather than greet us then moan at kids.

Riverside is an appropriate name, for the long narrow site sits right beside the river Lossie, just west of Elgin city centre. The site sits far enough from the main road to be quiet, but the RAF jets from nearby Lossiemouth can be very noisy at times.
The site has a mixture of static caravans and touring pitches. These are mainly level, on hardstanding and are big enough for moderate sized units, though large units could have difficulty.
Facilities are basic but well kept and clean (showers free). The exception is the site road which is very rough and requires care when driving. There is a small play area, though when I visited, there were no children staying and my fellow caravanners were mostly 'mature' couples.
Elgin is a small, elegant city about 1 mile away. You can walk by the main road, take a bus from outside the site, or stroll through fashionable suburbs and along the riverside. If you want to drive, there is plenty of free parking. The city has several large supermarkets, DIY stores etc. Round the outskirts, but the centre has mostly small shops.
Overall, a good site for a short stay.

Had a great time at this site. Set out very well. Quiet but very friendly. Nice little play area for our grand children. Very close to Elgin which is a good location to tour from. Very small shop on site but large Asda, Tesco & Lidl within 1 mile. A trip along the coast to Lossiemouth is well worth it.
Toilet block very clean - and 24hr Radio 2! Not quite sure why there is a need for a keypad lock on the toilet block? Showers good but not very powerful. Good facilities for washing up and laundry
Will definitely return next year.

As per other review really quiet site until our terrors arrived, not much to do but take a fishing rod if you fish, river lossie right on the site!
Seems not a site for kids, signs up saying no water pistols etc.
A lot of elderly people there!
If you are looking for the quiet life this is the site for you, clean toilets and tidy grass etc and within 5 minutes of Elgin. Laundry available at £2 for wash and £1 for the dryer.

A lovely site to stay at, so peaceful and quiet, set in a beautiful location alongside the river Lossie.
Elgin is a stones throw away and Lossiemouth just a short drive. This site is within easy reach of lots of interesting places along the Moray coastline, also not too far to visit Inverness or the Cairngorm mountains. We had a wonderful stay and will be looking forward to another stay at Easter in 2009. I hope there will be some room for us again.
The site facilities are spotlessly clean and there is everything you can possibly want on a campsite. The couple that run it are lovely people and very helpful. If you like a site that is not commercialized then this is the site for you, it is so peaceful, I could have stayed there for several weeks. It was just really nice to watch the little rabbits hopping around. I would certainly recommend staying here even if you only want one night , it really is a lovely place. I would not bother to look for another site personally as it just perfect.

Excellent location. Toilet facilities very clean and well looked after. Electric hook ups on every pitch and good facilities for fresh water, grey water and cassette emptying. Owners very friendly and helpful. Within 20 minute walk from town centre - regular bus service from gate. Very nice dog walk.

I stayed here in September 2005 for a single night on my way between Inverness and Aberdeen on the train. I had a night to kill so stopped off in Elgin to get a feel for the town. The camping part of this site is right by the river on a lowered section away from the caravans. I was the only camper there - I had the whole tent section to myself and it was lovely. You can't take your car onto the camping part but I was backpacking so that was OK for me. It's about a 20 minute walk into town but it's a nice town centre with good pubs, etc. Nice clean toilets and showers and I even managed to recharge my camera in the toilets while I was having a shower as I found a plug. Nice site, especially the camping part.

A nice campsite albeit very very quiet, which is no bad thing. We had a pitch right next to the river with no other tents in sight! Facilities are clean, you need 20 pence coins to get hot water to wash dishes and the gents showers vary in temperature!
