Just back for Highfield Farm
Owner/Farmer Tim very welcoming. Nice quiet campsite, only a few pitches. We have a large family tent which wasn't a problem. We were allowed to pitch where we wanted. Cost us 8 quid per night for two adults and two (2 & 5) kids
Toilet and shower facilities clean and adequate for the number of pitches. Hot water available 7 to 10 in morning and 5 till 8 in evening. Dishwashing basin available. Helpful maps showing walking trails and nearest food outlets/pubs displayed.
Electric hookups available and a water tap every second or third pitch. No specific play area for the kids but plenty of room for them to kick a ball about.
Easy to get to either Hull or Withernsea/coast from Highfield and great little villages all round. We spent most of our time either at the campsite or at the coast so cant really comment to much on the immediate local area
Only negatives are admittedly out of the farmers control. The road through Ottringham is surprisingly busy and there is some traffic noise at night and there are frequent helicopter flights in the vicinity day and night
Overall we enjoyed our visit and would definitely recommend this site

This was our second visit this year to this superb site, and I am glad to say that the same high standards were again evident. Clean toilets, clean showers, hot water - everything you could want. The owner (Tim) was again very welcoming and helpful and it was obvious that he takes a pride in the place (he was varnishing the woodwork in the toilet block when we got there!)
We had a choice of great pitches and ended up in a quiet corner where we could watch the rabbits, moorhens, hares and other assorted wildlife, or the ripening crops swaying in the breeze.
The site is superbly placed - 10 miles from the bustling city of Hull and about the same from the serene peace of Spurn Point. The little market town of Hedon is quite close (free parking!), the 'seaside experience' is 4 miles away at Withernsea and there are lots of other little places dotted around just waiting to be explored. We found a tiny place called Paull just on the estuary (again we parked for free), and spent a few happy hours watching the international ships going in and out of the port and under the distant Humber Bridge.
We will certainly be back.

We stayed here the last weekend in June 2009 and the campsite was pretty quiet.
There were a few families dotted around the fields, there are a lot more than 5 pitches. Hardstanding with electric, grass in 2 fields also with electric and water points dotted around.
We could pitch/park where we wanted.
The grass was nice and level so no need for worrying about levelling the adventure wagon etc.
The owner was very nice and we had a few chats. The toilets were clean and hot water between 7am and 8pm.
There is 1 washing up sink, I was the only one needing it so no problem but busy times might get annoying.
We paid £10 for the night with electric so a pretty good deal. We went to Withernsea on the Saturday then Spurn Point on Sunday. The campsite in just off the main road to both of these places.
We cooked in the van so no trip to a pub, there is a restaurant (Indian I think) just at the end of the road from the campsite.
A very nice site in a good location. I would go back.

We had a very nice stay. The site was quiet and peaceful, clean toilets and shower. Close enough to the coast, shops and farm shops selling local produce great. A bucket of strawberries for £2, value or what! There are no facilities for children so families may find this a problem but if you are looking for a quite retreat in the country it's great. No hassle no petty rules. Good walks for dogs. We'll be back for another stay.

Just back from a wonderful weekend at this lovely campsite.
We are quite novice campers so only ventured away from home for 1 night, but I know we'll be back for a longer stay later in the year.
We combined a visit to The Deep in Hull, a trip to Withernsea and a day out to Spurn Head on our short stay.
Sylvia and Tim are great hosts, very welcoming and friendly.
Having paid our fee for the night - £8 (2 adults + 2 children) we were told we could pitch our tent wherever we liked out in the field. There were lots of taps and electrical hook-up points dotted around the site.
There are 2 shower/bathroom areas as well as 2 separate toilets - all were very clean and well maintained. These are only a few minutes away from the furthest point in the field.
All in all, a great little site, friendly owners, very reasonably priced with lots to do in the surrounding area. Highly recommended.

We stayed for four nights here after reading the other reviews. It was a lovely place with plenty of room and a good choice of where to pitch. The pleasant flat grass area was just right for us, we went near to the wooded area, but could have gone anywhere in a choice of three areas. The toilets were ok and were always clean. The showers were good too.
Tim, the owner was really laid back, always willing to help and chat - but not 'in your face' or forever patrolling round (unlike some sites we've been on).
We went looking foe peace, quiet and relaxation - and we found them all here!

Recently spent three nights at this lovely small campsite. Chose to stay on hard standing pitch but could have used field(flat and grassy),lots of hook ups available.
Owner very relaxed and helpful, site well maintained. Small shower block with hot water between 7am and 8pm. Which also inc. Washing up area.
Ottringham is a small village with Indian take away, which we didn't get a chance to try-maybe next time.
Withernsea about 20 mins. Drive away has variety of shops inc. Tesco. Small family seaside place, fish and chips were superb.
Farm shop in next village(Keyingham) did the best tomatoes we've ever tasted.
Nice walks on site for people and dogs.
Would definitely return.

We agree with all the other reviews - this is a great site with a choice of hardstanding or grass, lots of hook-ups and taps, and plenty of space. The owners are great, really helpful and friendly.
We stayed 1 night but would have stayed more. It would be a great place for a group to meet, given the choice of accommodation. For all you motorhomers out there it is worth noting you can drop your grey water here too !
There are 2 pubs in Ottringham, 1 is now the White Horse Tandoori which seemed a bit unusual, but smelt good, the other (The Watts Arms) is more traditional but wasn't open when we walked past at 6.3pm.

Hidden gem of a camping site with good toilets/showers and flat sheltered pitches. I booked a party of 5 tents and 1 family room in the barn conversion over a bank holiday weekend for a group of 20 friends and family. We all enjoyed the days out to the local beaches and a trip to Fort Paull. Perfect area for cycling and walking. The Farmer was a great host and came out to greet us with maps of the local pubs and shops. He also showed us a local cycle route on an old railway line. Had e-mails and text off all who went the day after we got back saying what a fantastic time they had all had. Would go back again as we did not get to do all the things I had planned. No play area for children but we had 11 kids in the group so they had plenty to do. The wooden table which was provided in the field seated 8 and was ideal for breakfasts and we put a gazebo over it for shelter as no-one else was there. I liked the fact that it was possible to get a large group of friends/family with caravans, tents and someone who wanted a self catering room onto one place which was impossible on most other sites I looked at booking .Other camping sites on a bank holiday I looked at booking where full so it was a nice surprise to find this place to ourselves apart from 3 smaller tents at the far end of the field and 2 caravans.

Wow what a find. If you are looking for no thrills
We spent one night here to try out our new tent and will be back.
The owners are wonderful and very laid back. They told us to arrive whenever we wanted to on the Saturday and leave when we wanted on the Sunday, perfect.
The field is large and with no set out pitches you can pitch wherever you like. We didn't have to fight over a pitch (we were the only ones there!).
There is a toilet/ shower block on site. This is fairly basic, clean and perfect for what we required it for. The hot water is only on from 6-9am then 6-8pm. However when we where chatting to the owner he said he would change it later for us in the morning. Must have sensed that we weren't going to get up in time. The pot washing area is also inside the toilet block.
The site itself is brilliantly relaxing and there was not a sound during the night except the odd car going down the farm road.
Ottringham itself is a lovely, sleepy Yorkshire village. The only shop locally was contained within the post office which sells the very basics.
There are lots of walks around the area and along the old railway line. The owner pointed out walks to us. We did both he suggested and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Seaside town of Withersea (20 min drive) is a nice place to visit. Try the fish and chips, honestly the best in the Country. Also here is larger supermarket shops to get stocked up.
Further afield there is the city of Hull (30 min drive) has many underrated attractions including the deep, fish trail, Hull marina, various museums and shopping areas a plenty.
Best thing of all is the price of this site is cost us £6 for out large 5 man tent, two people with no electric.
