I had a wonderful stay at this site. It was easy to find with no manoevering nightmares. There was hard standing available for 2 of the 5 caravans/motor homes allowed on the CL, grass for the others and electric hook up for all 5.
One large room in the huge barn housed 2 unisex toilets, 2 very good showers, a counter with tourist info leaflets on it and an electric kettle ( for the tenters in the tent field to the side of the CL ). It was kept very clean. I found the big sink in the barn very useful for washing up, piping hot water was always available there.
It was a very pretty spot indeed, with an amazing variety of wild birds constantly coming and going and a great view down to Glasgow itself. There was an attractive wooden shelter in the tent field, so even when it rained the tenters were able to eat under cover not just in their tents
This site is just 7. 6 miles from the Kings Theatre, a 15 minute drive. LA Fitness in Milngavie ( I found out much later this was pronounced Mull Guy ! )- unlike the Fitness centre 1/3 mile down the road from the Campsite who made their exclusivity very evident on my enquiry - allowed me to take up a guest membership for my stay which was wonderful so I had a swim and did a class there most days.
Milngavie itself was only 5 mins drive down the hill from the campsite and had a big Tesco and all the shops you could want in the shopping centre ( eg Holland and Barratt, Boots, Post Office etc. ) The one thing I failed to locate in the near vicinity was a self service launderette, but this doesn't mean there wasn't one.
I'm very much looking forward to returning to this site in November.

The approach is a little offputting but the site is lovely. We had a problem with finding it - our Garmin satnav took us the wrong way and we found ourselves on a narrow lane with no turning places. When approaching from Glasgow, look for signs to A81 and Mugdock country park! Part sloping and with excellent views there is little to fault the site. Toilet facilities are excellent. It was quiet when we visited and we stayed for 4 or 5 nights. Milngavie is a walk away and there are good shops, a supermarket, several pubs and restaurants and a chippy. The town centre is tricky to reach by car but once you realise where it is there is plenty of free parking. Milngavie has a train station and trains to Glasgow are frequent. The station car park is full all week.

We decided to go here as it was close to get into Glasgow to see family and also close to Loch Lomond area. When we saw the reviews already on about it we were however a little worried. However there was no need the site was lovely and peaceful. It is true when you arrive down a track and see the timber recycling building its a bit off putting but you do not see it again till you go off site and there was hardly any nose from it. There is an area for campervans enough for three I guess and then the area for tents to the left. It is a little sloped but there were several places flat enough to pitch. The tent area is surrounded by trees with a nice hill view at the end. The owners have put two nice wooden static picnic benches one with a wooden canopy so 6 people could easily eat at either come rain or shine. The toilets are about 300yrs away 2 toilets and 2 showers. The block is unisex but this was no problem as all areas enclosed so full privacy. The toilets were clean and well lit with extractor fans, the shower rooms spacious with an area to put belongings while in the shower and they were very clean and full power with lovely hot water at all times- and free. There was a dish wash area separately in a building at the back - not glamorous as it is part of the farm buildings but clean and spacious again with good hot water. A drinking water tap was just outside the toilet and shower block. So all in all good. As the site is small and few people stay long as they just overnight before walking the West highland way- no queuing for showers or the loo. Reception are on hand 8-1230 to pay. Its about 30mins walk to Milngavie shop centre and a good pub Cross Keys with great food, there and Indian, Cantonese and two or three pubs and several taxi firms, so if nobody feels like cooking there's no need and the taxi fare of £4.00 was fine rather than walk. Its is only a two minute car ride if you want to drive. Loch Lomond is only a 40 min drive away and the scenery on the way is lovely. All in all very good small site as a base for exploring.

We spent a night here in May 2007 before starting the West Highland Way. It's about 20 min walk from Milngavie and has a flattish area for caravans and motor-homes and a more sloping area for tents. The van pitches all have hookups. On the tent side when we arrived there was one large frame tent with a family obviously staying a while plus a few backpacker tents and a couple of group tents. Facilities are an outside watertap and a unisex block with two shower cubicles and two toilet cubicles (no dish-wash) Modern and clean but obviously hadn't been tidied up that day. Office only opens in the morning. No reservations needed for backpacker tents. There is some noise from Glasgow airport flights and we had the misfortune to be woken by the idiots in one group tent who started shouting at 4.30 a.m before someone had a 'quiet word' and they shut up. Milngavie has supermarkets, two pubs and a chippy. There are frequent trains to Glasgow and a large carpark at the station. In summary, a good place to start the WHW or for a cheap base near Glagow but take earplugs.

This site is just outside Milngavie which has most everything, shops, pubs, and a railway station. Our first impression of the site wasn't a good one I have to say, travelling down the lane to it you pass a recycling plant and an area where there are quite a few skips but the field itself has some nice views We had been booked in for months but on arrival couldn't find anyone only the bedraggled farm dog who seemed to pee up everything and wouldn't go away. If it hadn’t been for the fact that we needed to be near to Glasgow we would have tried to find somewhere else. There was a note on what looked like an office door to say tents £4 caravans £8 if no one here leave in letter box which we did when we left. It is supposed to be a five van site but there were six and a camper van plus one that looked as though it had been there some time. There is a camping area and there were a few tents that came and went while we were there. When we did tell someone in one of the cottages we weren't happy about the dog hanging round and peeing up everything and that we wanted to have a barby it did disappear for a while. She said the site owners were away for the weekend The showers had been put in quite recently into part of a farm building, these were nice and hot. I wouldn't stay here again it is too laid back for me but if you like to be free and easy then this site is for you.
