Brilliant site. Although its quite large it really doesn't feel that way. Lovely courtyard where you find the bar, restaurant which serves basic food and reception.
The site will be a bit shaded for some sun seekers. Very safe for young children and mercifully too quiet for too many teenagers. There is a disco of sorts in the courtyard on a Friday night but its very quiet really.
As for the bells, I think its only a problem for the insomniacs. Recommended

Just returned from a lovely holiday at Domaine de la Foret and agree with most of what has already been said. Great site, spacious pitches (although some a little too shaded for our taste), nice little village with boulangerie, Vival supermarket and pharmacy only 3 minutes cycle ride away. If you like your sites to be modern and purpose built with swathes of concrete round a huge pool then this is not the site for you, but if you like rustic buildings, grass round the pool and you take your own sunbed then you will love it. The facilities were not always spotless but there are plently of them and we found the showers to be hot and powerful. Entertainment was very low key but good - football tournament, boules tournament, live band, disco, weekly barbecue laid on by the owners etc etc Unsurprisingly in high season the site is full of groups of people who have been coming to the site for years and that can make it a little harder for children to make friends but once they do you won't see them for dust. Also a good mix of nationalities with probably an equal number of French, Dutch and British at the beginning of August. Great area, superb beaches and the Lac de Jaunay is wonderful for canoeing.

All in all a very good site. Its well shaded and all the pitches we saw there were of a good size. We had enough room for a caravan, awning, car and badminton net, so cant complain. The site is very clean and friendly. Reception can be a bit hit and miss as the staff seem to multi-task and could well be running the bar at the same time, but they are always helpful. Its a very child friendly site and although my two got lost a few times I was never overly worried as its miles away from any big roads and only the small village of st Julien a few hundred yds away. Pools are a bit on the small side but very clean ( if a bit cold) Nice basic restaurant and bar. One complaint would be the lack of warm water available by 6pm and the mossies which have a habit of waiting to mug you in the toilet blocks in the evenings. The clock mentioned above is no real problem but there are actually 2 so unless they are synchronised you get an echo. If your going to the Vendee then this is far better than most of the sites we saw as they all seemed to packed in cheek to jowl. I would recommend it.

Just returned from 10 fabulous days at this site. We had not been camping in France in our own tent before and this was the perfect start. It is set in beautiful grounds, each pitch is separated by a hedge for privacy. Hook up and water was available at our pitch. The campsite was really clean, with two spotless toilet blocks with lots of showers, washing up spaces and even a baby bathroom. Our two young boys loved the swimming pool with the slide, and also tried their hand at fishing with their dad for the first time, which is free in any of their three lakes. Staff friendly and there is a nice little bar, drinks a little pricey and depending on bar person measures a little stingy but that was the only criticism we had with the whole site. Great site, great area, great holiday.

How nice to see that someone else has discovered this hidden gem. I agree with the comments that you have made, however, you seem to have forgotten to mention the wonderful time keeping device of the clock that keeps chiming on the hour, 24 hours a day!, but you soon get used to this, and it becomes background noise. Hats off to Diane and Axel who seem to be on site 24/7, which is a great achievement with such a young family. A wonderful site, which I would recommend to anyone who wants a relaxing, friendly, and well maintained site.

Is is an excellent site in the Vendee that takes campervans, caravans and tents. They also have a few static caravan sites. Keycamp use this site but none of the other companies and it is generally used as a touring site. The site is in the grounds of the Châteaux home of the owners Axel and Diane, surrounded by woodland, grassland and three lakes. The setting is very attractive, with many of the facilities within period buildings. The over all impression that this gives is that you are in the grounds of a large country park. The site is a short walk from the village of St Julian des landes and around 15 minutes drive from the sea. There are around 160 pitches, all of which have electrical hook ups and water. The pitches are flat and the soil sandy. The pitches are in among established trees and shrubs and there is a wide range from very sunny to well shaded areas. The site is home to a wide range of plants and animals and the lakes have some huge pike, one caught earier this year was 1M 24 cms Washing facilities are excellent and well maintained. There are three wash blocks. There are ample showers, washrooms and toilets. The toilets are very clean, have toilet seats and toilet paper. The wash facilities are cleaned at least twice a day, the earliest clean being done at 5.00 am! There are Belfast sinks for clothes washing, sinks for dishwashing and there are also washers and tumble dryers. These facilities are unisex, and there are pissiors in one corner of the facility. There are also mirrors with sockets to take electric shavers, hairdryers etc. They take French plugs but you can easily use an adaptor. You can hire fridges from the owner and BBQs are also available on a day to day rental basis. There is a small playground area, which has a swing, a climbing frame and a trampoline. There is a football pitch, a basketball net, crazy golf and swin golf. You can fish in the three lakes (free but you need your own kit). You can also arrange to hire bikes on site and have horse riding lessons. You can also hire paint ball. There are two small swimming pools, one has slides and a water polo set up, the other is a quieter pool for more relaxing swimming. The pools are not large but this has the advantage of parents being able to easily supervise the swimming of their children while enjoying a relaxing lie down on the sunlougers around the pool. There is a small shop on site, open in the morning only. You can shop in the nearby town of St Julien, or there is a large supermarket 5 miles drive away in La Mothe Achard. There is a bar onsite set in the courtyard of the Chateux, a very charming setting. There is also a restaurant and take away which serves pizza and frite. The owners put on some low key entertainments through the week but if you want wall to wall discos this is not the site for you. Overall this is an excellent site; it has a charming setting and first rate faculties. It is not as large as many of the sites in the area but to my mind I think this can be an advantage if you want a more relaxing holiday. This site would appeal to families with younger children and has rather less to offer for older teenagers.
I have already booked a pitch for next year. My only minor gripe is that the owners need to be a little stricter on the 'quiet hours' if they want to maintain the peace and quiet of this site. We had one or two problems with older children playing on the trampoline in the early hours of the morning. Notwithstanding this, I would have no problem in suggesting this beautiful site to a friend.
