We booked this site on the back of the positive reviews on here and I am sorry to say that we were disappointed.
Firstly, the site is very difficult to find. The instructions in the caravan club handbook may be fine if there are two of you but if you’re towing ‘solo’ you haven’t a hope of following them safely. Fortunately, as I pulled over trying to decipher the directions a chap pulled up and asked if I was looking for High Onn. He went on to say that they have no end of Caravanners lost and the locals wish that the CC would put in decent sign posts as the number of outfits stuck in lanes causes chaos. Which brings me on to the approach itself... The site is in the middle of nowhere, along muddy country lanes (every caravan was arriving filthy) and if, like I have, you’ve got a larger outfit it can be a bit tricky to say the least.
The site itself is like other CC sites, clean, tidy with EHU. “High Onn” conjures up an image of a hill-top site with spectacular views but I’m afraid you can forget it. The site is virtually totally surrounded by trees and it really is very claustrophobic and dark. Yes, it’s peaceful, yes it’s in the middle of nowhere but it really is terribly gloomy. The plus side is that the dog walk (across the lane from the site) is HUGE and the Pub that they recommend at the site, called The Royal Oak in Church Eaton (about a 10 minute drive away) is fantastic – they do 2 mains for £10 and they were excellent.
We were booked to stay for two night but bailed out after the first and came home early...

Went here on the a weekend when all the other CC sites were booked up. A really lovely site in the in the countryside although quite close to Stafford with lots of amenities.
This Members only site has no toilet block, but there were several service points. 50 grass pitches and 26 hardstandings. Good information room with details of local pubs, eating places and things to do.
Hired a road bike from Stafford (www.D2ride.Co.Uk) and did a great route through several pretty villages up to Trentham and back. Trentham Gardens (Stoke) were beautiful and extensive shopping village.

So glad we went! Lovely peaceful site, good pitch sizes - we chose a hard standing pitch that had bushes between us and the next caravan on one side and a lawned area the other, more than enough room for the car, caravan, porch awning and seating area width wise.
It was £9.50 for the night for the two of us with EHU which was a bargain and we didn't need to leave until 4pm on Sunday. The dog walk across the road was a lovely area with plenty of paths around the trees and air raid shelters, one of the best dog walks we have seen yet and also clean!
Will definitely go back again but not sure if we would go when the children were with us as there was no play area and so so quiet. But for a relaxing, peaceful time definitely.

This was a stop-off for us on our way to Scotland, but we liked it so much we may well come back for a proper stay. Very peaceful, with just enough trees, and nice views. No facilities, but as we prefer to use our own this wasn't a problem, and the price reflects this. The wardens were pleasant and friendly, and kept the site in very good order. It's a great base for touring the area. We visited Lilleshall Abbey, where there is supposed to be a ghost; didn't see it but a strange face turned up in the stonework on one of my photos, so who knows??

Lovely site with lots to see and do in the area. We stayed five days with two of our grandchildren aged 12 and 6. It was rather quiet for them, the site not having any play area, but they seemed happy enough and we had a few lovely days out, visiting Shugborough and Ironbridge etc.
The site is run by two of the friendliest wardens we have had the pleasure to meet. They keep everywhere beautifully tidy and are extremely helpful.
The pitches are nicely spaced and in some places not directly overlooked. There is a great 'dog walk' across the lane, which would be a great play area for the children (though they would need to be supervised). We had a lovely evening walk there the evening we arrived and the children enjoyed seeing the old air raid shelters (the site was an RAF base during the war).
We would definitely visit again without the children next time as it is so peaceful and relaxing.

Fantastic site in the middle of nowhere, big pitches, not overlooked in some areas at all. Very clean and tidy site. No toilets or showers. Loads of wildlife around the fields on the site. Lovely site that we will definitely stay on again.

Went here on the BH weekend as all the other CC sites were booked up. A really peaceful site in the middle of nowhere, but plenty little villages around for milk etc. Site shop sells the usual bits and pieces and there are some mobile shops that come round, details in the information room. This Members only site has no toilet block, but there were several service points, and a MH service point. 50 grass pitches and 26 hardstandings. Good information room with details of local pubs, eating places and things to do. We went over to Shugborough one day, and to the Cosford RAF Museum the next (free entry), and there are plenty other attractions in the area.
