Why anybody would want to stay on this site except as a stopover I'll never know, unless they wanted to fish in the nearby fishing lakes. Don't get me wrong, the site was fine, the facilities were clean and with lots of hot water, the pitches were of a good size and level and the electric was adequate. However there is absolutely nothing of interest in the surrounding area or villages, there are no bars or restaurants in Buzancy or nearby villages and only a small supermarket. The surrounding countryside is flat with huge fields and very few trees. We walked about ten miles in the countryside around the campsite and there was nothing to see, we returned and walked around the village and saw about four people, but no children.
Back at the campsite we saw big stacks of sunloungers near the showerblock, so I assume that the French go there in August to sunbathe as there is not much else to do.
It is a shame as it is a nice site in the wrong place.

First time abroad with our caravan, and so pleased we chose this site for our one week stay. Lovely site with excellent shower/toilet block as mentioned in a previous review. We were asked to choose our own pitch; some are smaller than others and more suited to motor homes or tents, but all were big enough, and each is enclosed by mixed hedging. Every four pitches shared a water tap, grey water drainage, and electrics, so very convenient. Although the site was fairly busy it was very quiet, with no noise after dark. The Hotel du Saumon in the village is open to non-residents, has a bar, and is owned by a Dutchman, who seemed to know everything about the local area; he's also an excellent cook. There are basic shops in Buzancy, and the surrounding countryside is very beautiful. Thoroughly recommended.

Stayed here for two nights. Very quiet site. Nicely laid out with good facilities. Bread can be ordered in time for breakfast each day. The owner (manager?) is called Thierry and speaks good English. But make no mistake. It's very rural indeed. There is one hotel where you can get a meal in the village of Buzancy (just over 1 km) but it was distinctly average - if that. There was another restaurant (La Terrasse) in the village of Brieulles sur Bar (c. 10km)which was pretty good, specialising in Alsatian cuisine. The site is an excellent base for visiting the WW1 battlefields, including the Ossuary at Douaumont which is well worth a visit. The only large supermarket we found in the area was a Leclerc in Verdun. Would I stay there again? Yes - it's very pleasant stop over. Not sure I'd want to stay much longer.

A group of three campervans, we stayed here for two nights. The staff were very welcoming and helpful (even though I had given them the wrong dates!) and we could choose our own pitches. Considering it was August, the site was fairly quiet with lots of space. There was a singsong round a camp fire on the first night and an international football match (with about 20 people per side!) the second evening. The facilities were very clean with free showers. There was some noise during the day on the Saturday when some of the locals used the surrounding woods for motocross practice. The lake was the main reason we had booked and although we did venture in, we made sure we kept our heads above water as it wasn't particularly clean looking. That said, the locals didn't seem to mind! The lake was divided by a pontoon with a shallow part for younger children and a deeper part with inflatables in the main section. The village itself is about 2-3 miles away from the campsite, and as far as we could see, had nothing to recommend it. We tried to get a drink but there were no bars in the village itself and the only hotel catered only for residents. However, we did find a bar on the outskirts where we were made very welcome. Would certainly recommend this site and would visit again.

Pleasant, mid sized, site near the village of Buzancy. Large pitches if a little uneven, some with on pitch facilities. The grass on our pitch was long and the pitch was muddy. The electric points were handy The Facility block is very clean with plenty of toilets and wash basins plus 5 showers in each. The showers are free, which is a blessing. The swimming lake is well utilised by campers and locals alike. The site is somewhat remote, so using the car is essential to get around, there is not much in Buzancy itself. Trips into Belgium and to the nearby war memorials are popular things to do. However; the site has an Achilles heel. The owners do not live on site so after 8pm there is no-one there, unfortunately the local louts use the site during the weekends for a spot of drunken camping as they can just turn up after 6pm and get on a pitch. We were kept up until 04:30 on Saturday night with the louts charging around the site shouting at the top of their voices, very frightening. Until this problem is solved I wouldn't recommend anyone staying there.
