We stayed at this site for 2 nights, 2 of us in our tent with no electricity. It cost 64 euros, which to me is very, very expensive, if we'd had the 4 kids and electricity I might not have been quite so stunned though.

Bad bit over, the rest is all good and I guess that's what you pay for.

Our pitch was away from the lakeshore and was very big with a well on it! The facilities were very clean and lots of hot water whatever time of day. They have extended the pool area, when I last visited with my family it was a small pool, now there is a lazy river type pool and a toddlers area.

We did try to use the restaurant, but they were so busy after 20 minute wait we left and went to a Auberge de 4 Saisons Restaurant just around the corner. This is a quirky little hotel with lovely food and the most delicious desserts. It was expensive though. The night before we had walked over the road and taken a track from the tennis courts across the fields to the village of Doussard. We enjoyed a much cheaper meal at a bar there.

I would recommend the site, especially for families, being able to walk down to the lake to swim is wonderful and the setting is very picturesque. It is expensive though.

This site is a well kept, friendly site, the washroom and showers are well kept and clean.

There is a small bar which serves food, but we was so happy with the place we BBQ'd in the van and enjoyed the warm evenings.

The site was quiet and we were able to drive round pick a pitch then stay for a few nights. The stroll down to the lake and the views are amazing, slightly out of reach of Annecy but easily accessed on the cycle route for the fit and healthy.

We will return, I rode my large motorbike around the lake and really enjoyed the views and the different style of the opposite side of the lake.

People were friendly, mostly Dutch and French, a few brits but all was friendly.

A great site and has been looked after and the new toilet and shower block a great relief.

Cost around 35 euro a night inc 2 people, electric, trailer local taxes.

I'm sure you will love the place and the people.

After staying for nearly 2 weeks near Chamonix we fancied moving down to Lake Annecy. Partly because of good reports and, also, because we had our Zodiac inflatable, with outboard motor, with us and wanted to take it out on some water.

Lac Bleu is situated at the extreme southern end of Lake Annecy right on the shoreline. When we enquired at the reception they were able to offer us pitch (No 201) actually on the lakeside from 13 August for the 13 nights that we wanted. We booked this although that did cost us a rip-off 25€ non-refundable / non-deductible booking fee. We then returned to our pitch at Passy and returned with the ‘van on 13 August – MY birthday – so that was super birthday treat.

The pitch was a large one and we were able to position our 7.2m ‘van with the door side to the lake, the car on the other side and still have room in front of our 2.4m deep awning. The site was generally quiet and peaceful although we did have groups of teenagers congregating on the lakeshore in front our pitch quite late some nights.

Our pitch was at the northern end of the site’s beach and so we had a view across the lake to the mountains on the eastern side. Pitches further along the beach to the south had views right up the lake. Still we were very pleased to “bag” this pitch which only had a narrow gravel road between us and the lake’s waters. The pitch was mainly gravel without much grass but this was not really a problem when we had got our awning groundsheet down as there was a strip of grass in front of the awning. I was not able to screw in our awning tie pegs because there was little soil to screw into. There were a number of mature trees giving shade and we, also benefited from the lake breezes. This was fortunate as for most of our stay the daytime temperatures ranged between 30C and 34C.

Lac Bleu is situated right next to the main road that runs along the western side of Lake Annecy. Although this road was busy with traffic day and night it was not noticeably intrusive. Again pitches further along the shore would have been further from the road. The site is laid out with a main entrance road parallel to the public road and then rows of pitches laid out along narrower tarred roads at 90 degrees to that road. The beach is at the far end of these rows – furthest from the main site road.

The reception and restaurant and toilets, play area and pool are all on the main site road and so it was quite a walk from out pitch to any of these facilities. The site offered free wi-fi internet access but this was rather a weak and variable signal at our end of the site and not brilliant near to reception.

The electricity supply was, also, rather variable. Annoying as we were paying 3.90€ per day for an 8 amp supply. On several occasions the supply to all the pitches failed completely - I imagine overloaded but frustrating as we were running 2 fridges full of food and the outside temperature was 30C+. I must confess we did overload our connection a couple of times and have to ask for someone to come out and reset it. They always came promptly and politely!

The toilets, showers, etc were very modern tiled buildings which were kept clean and equipped with toilet paper and soap! There was a laundry area with washing machines and tumble driers (5€ token from reception). We used the washer and hung the clothes on our washing line between trees on our pitch. We did eat in the restaurant which was always busy and had live music some evenings but we did have a very tasty take-away from there on my Birthday. We took our candlelit table to the water’s edge and dined there in the moonlight with the swans drifting by – very romantic.

We were able to keep our Zodiac moored on the lake right in front of our pitch free of charge. It would have been extra if we’d had a trailer but we don’t. We enjoyed several trips out on the lake. We, also, paddled and Cary swam in the lake, she’s a more confident swimmer than me! There were a lot of boats of varying sizes moored in the lake by campers and swimming and diving in the lake were popular pursuits. Boats and pediloes could, also, be hired from the nearby marina. We, also, swam in the pool although that could be a little unruly at times as it was unsupervised. The depth layout was, also, a bit odd, sorry weak swimmer me again!

It was so hot that it was very easy to just sit around in the awning but we did go out for a few outings. The Annecy region was not a spectacular as the Chamonix area for trips out but we tried to take in the main ones. We drove along the eastern shore on the narrow and very twisty road mountain leading to the Col de Forclaz. From the Col there are superb views down over the northern Lac Grande as well as a couple of restaurants and the take-off point for hang gliders. We then continued around the Lake in a northerly direction and drove through Annecy and back down the western side. Annecy was very congested with traffic.

On another day we caught the omnibus boat that toured the lake. We started off at the landing stage near to the campsite. It was about 10 minutes walking but rather dangerous as it was along the busy main road which did not have any footpath for part of the distance. We stayed on the boat as it visited the villages on the western shore until it reached Annecy and then looked around the quaint, flower decked street of the picturesque old town for a couple of hours. We then re-boarded the boat at about 2pm breaking our journey at the villages Menthon and Tailloires on the eastern shore before rejoining the last boat back to Bout du Lac near to Lac Bleu.

We, also, drove into the mountains on the western side of the Lake but apart from one really good view of the lake and distant ones of the Mont Blanc Massif we were a bit disappointed. For our last trip out we drove to the Grotte and waterfall at Seythenex near Faverges. This site has a very high and spectacular waterfall and, also, a guided visit into a river-carved cave. The latter wasn’t particularly spectacular with only tiny stalactites, etc, as it was rather young in cave terms. We then went on to the cable car at nearby La Sambuy. This teleseige, flying settee type, of cable car took us up into the mountains. From the summit there were good views of Lake Annecy and again distant views of Mont Blanc.

As I said earlier the weather was excellent throughout most of our stay. However, several nights before we were due to depart thunderstorms were forecast. Having had experience of violent storms on other Continental lakeside campsites and wanting to keep our awning dry for packing away we took it down. It was very fortunate that we did as the storm that night was very violent. At 11.45pm I was out with others trying to hold down the tent of some near neighbours which had been completely wrecked. Our boat was driven upon the beach dragging its anchor with it but fortunately undamaged.

I would strongly recommend Camping Lac Bleu for those who like lakeside campsites and particularly if you enjoy boating and other watersports. At an average nightly cost of 28.97€, or 30.20€ if I include the cost of the booking fee it was quite expensive but then only slightly more than Chateau Gandspette and less than Lac de Liez neither of which have such spectacular locations.

The route from Camping Lac Bleu to/from the toll autoroute just north of Annecy was not a difficult one. The drive along the western shore of the lake toward Annecy was a pleasant grand final to our stay and the through route is routed away from the main city centre and not too challenging.

We didn't really enjoy this site with large tent and 3 children. Pitches were small, but most other sites we visited had small pitches. The pitches are really just dirt mixed with gravel v's la Ravoire which are mainly grass. Although part of this site which is split into two has a lakeside position we felt that due to pitches being only 20ft from lakeside you felt like a sardine.
The wash facilities were poor to average and not very clean, they really need updating. Site was 99% French / Dutch. Road noise was very bad!. Pool was small with little or nothing for small children to do as no play area i.E. 1 see-saw and 1 slide in a 10x10ft area.

Staff were very pleasant and helpful and Annecy is without a doubt very lovely, but they really like to cram those campers in.

We also stayed at this campsite last year and we had previously stayed at La Ravoire which we did not enjoy at all. Well what a difference this campsite made to our holiday , it has a fantastic setting and is extremely well kept, by the end of our holiday though we did feel like the only English on the site , but hey that not always a bad thing. The campsite has a very relaxed feel and the pitches are large and well kept, the only downside would be if you had a lakeside pitch, people tend to stand in them in the evening watching the sun go down over the mountains.

We were aware that the British tend to use La Ravoire in this area but as we wanted a site on the Lake we chose this site. It had a large number of Dutch on site but also enough British so we were'nt swamped! The site has two parts and there was only one part open in June. This was nice as you were not aware of the other part which was separated by a lane to the Lake.
The site had lovely big pitches and was right on the lakeside beach. The views were stunning. All of the camp facilities were in this part of the site with the Reception, Bar/Restaurant and Swimming Pool at the entrance. Toilet and showers were excellent and kept very clean I would not enjoy the other part of the site as much and you would have to be careful if booking High Season which part you would be in. Lake Annecy is delightful and definitely worth a visit although we found the area very busy even in June. There is constant road noise around the lake which affects most of the campsites with heavy lorries on the road all night long. I would not find July/August peaceful here even though we were at the quiet end of the lake. However I had a smashing holiday and very much enjoyed the campsite which is mainly touring but has about 10 statics for hire in our part of the site.
