We stayed at l'arada parc for 11 nights in a mobile home. The mobile home was great. It was spotless and I think we might have been the first people ever to stay in it as everything was new.
The welcome we received on site was also fantastic and any contact I had with the staff was very positive.
The site is a little shabby though. The pool area had weeds growing between the tiles and one or two wobbly tiles. The weather was bad when we were here so we mostly used the indoor pool. This was a great facility but once again could have done with a good clean/update. The shower tray of the shower beside the pool was dirty throughout our stay.
The children's play area was also a little run down. It obviously hadn't been weeded this year and could generally have done with an update.
All in all I think this campsite would be ok for an overnight stopover but is not up to a longer stay, especially if you have young children.

What a charming little site. Easy to find and not too far from the motorway, we used as an overnight stop and were made most welcome by the owners and settled on to a good sized pitch which had both power and water. Not too busy at this time of year so it was peaceful with Dutch and a few brits making up most of the visitors. We didn't get a chance to try the pool or restaurant, but the toilets and showers were clean and tidy and there is a laundry as previously mentioned plus other services to make your stay comfortable. There is a small shop and bread can be ordered for the following morning. A perfect stop for any of the ports but good enough for a longer stay to relax or explore.

This is an absolutely fantastic site. We have just stayed there for 2 weeks. Both toilet blocks were spotlessly clean, there was a good laundry room. Beautiful indoor pool. Good sized pitches. Small shop, great restaurant and take away, with excellent food at a reasonable price. The location was rural and the site had a lovely peaceful feel to it. Yet there was an abundance of things to do in the surrounding area.
The owners were friendly and helpful. We had a car problem whilst there and they liaised with a local garage for us, helping with translation, booking an appointment for us to take it in etc.
They certainly provided excellent customer service.
We enjoyed this site so much, we have already booked to go back at the end of August.

Nice and easy to find about 15 mins from the peage. Pitches large enough for a twin axle van, awning and still enough room for the car! Wardens friendly and very helpful.Pools jacuzzi and restaurant first rate and the games room, petanque and play area kept the children amused. We did use the laundry but would recommend you take a book and stay with your washing. As soon as our back was turned our wet laundry was removed from the drier and our tokens hijacked!
Excellent base for touring, recommend Chambon Villandry and Chenonceau especially. Tours and Blois very pretty and not at all busy.
A couple of very minor gripes would be the expansion of the chalet side of the site and because it is a popular overnight stop several mornings were disturbed by early birds packing up, maybe a dedicated area near the entrance for them? but a pleasant and very restful stay, well done L'arada Parc!

We visited this site in early August 2010 [during the French holiday period] and found it to be ideal in most respects for young families. The site is geared towards keeping kids occupied with activities for the kids organised on most days, together with a trio of pools for all ages and a games room. The clientèle seems to be made up of a good mix of French, Dutch and Brits with around 30% appearing to use the site as a stopover en route to other parts of France.
The on-site restaurant offers good value and the food and wine is well priced and very good!
So on to some specifics:
Pitches - these are offered in what appear to be two sizes. We had the smaller of the two with electric hookup and this turned out to be just physically able to accommodate our tent. We couldn't get the car on the pitch. I would suggest that unless you have a small tent, go for the larger size pitch every time.
The pitches themselves are mostly fairly level and are separated predominantly by mature hedges in the French manner and these were a little overgrown when we visited. This would not have caused us any problem apart form the fact that the pitch was small for the tent and therefore it made getting to the back of the tent a bit of a jungle adventure!
Toilet Block - This was generally spotlessly clean and provided four of five showers together with about the same number of loos and private wash basins. There are a couple of urinals too. The block itself is unisex which didn't bother us in the least [when in Rome etc.] but it might concern some gents who might be a bit bashful about using the urinal whilst receiving a cheerful 'Bonjour!' from an unknown lady! Plenty of hot water in the showers and lots of water pressure.
Pools - There are 3: one indoor which is small but also has a jacuzzi and steam room and a paddling area; one outdoor paddling pool and a large outdoor swimming pool. None of these are supervised and parents are supposed to supervise and control their own kids. Whilst the Dutch and Brits seemed happy to do this, the French kids did not seem to be supervised for much of the time and this led to a few instances of bullying and rowdy behaviour on the part of some of the French kids who seemed quite hyper in comparison. The management responded well to those parents who fell foul of this [us included] and nipped the situation in the bud. The pools themselves get busy in the late afternoon when the majority of the site seems to descend upon them but generally throughout the day they seem quite quiet, even in the high summer. The pool is very secure and operates a no-shoes policy.
Local Area - The site is located in a little village which is evidently a farming community. Expect to get stuck behind the odd tractor now and again. There is bread available from the on-site shop which also does lots of other odds and sods and necessities. This is just as well as the village has pretty much nothing else other than a boulangerie and a tabac.
Nearest supermarket is about 6-7Km away and there is good shopping to be had in Tours [20 mins]. The villages along the Loire itself are charming and the Chateaux are well worth a visit. Langeais was one we stumbled on but didn't have the time to explore but it looked very pretty. There is a very pretty etang/lac beach close by at Rille which would be great for le pique-nique.
In summary:
Pros
- Very family orientated and pretty much everything you need to keep the youngsters occupied either on-site or nearby.
- Beautiful area which needs a couple of weeks to explore properly.
- Cheap but excellent wine in the supermarkets.
- Good facilities on site.
Cons
- The site gets very busy in the main 2 weeks during French shutdown with the consequent drawbacks that this carries. It can get quite noisy with kids playing at all times.
- The games room can create some noise during the evenings but usually winds up around 2230hrs.
- The local residents' dogs caused us and quite a few other campers a major problem by barking constantly from early in the morning to late on in the evening. Sadly the house concerned was about 15 feet from out tent so it made things worse. We stuck it for 5 days before having a word with the management who were very apologetic and rang the owner whilst we were there. Sadly it made no difference. In the end it drove us away from the site as, whilst we can put up with other campers making a noise this is expected but barking dogs are not conducive to a relaxing break.
Overall, a good site for families [especially those under teens] with good facilities and offering good value. Watch out for the noisy dogs near the entrance however! Would we use it again? Probably, but only for a couple of days max before moving elsewhere.

This is a great site. I agree with the other reviewers that the staff were very friendly and welcoming. They had a refreshingly laid back attitude and and this helped to create the lovely atmosphere on site. The one gripe I'd have is that the playground is on the small side but there's a bouncy castle (no charge) to keep the littluns amused.
It's a great stop off for travelling south from Cherbourg, It's simple to find and a short distance from the motorway. I would recommend staying a few nights here if you can. The relaxing atmosphere, especially around the pool, will really set you up for your holiday. Also it's well placed for a visit to some of the châteaux, we went to Azay Le Rideau, which is just gorgeous, not to be missed!
Also the tariff was not too expensive, although as they've added a new indoor pool complex, I'm sure this has pushed the price up.

We visited just for one night, as an overnight stop on the way to Royan.
The site was excellent - clean, friendly staff, good food at the restaurant, and a really nice layout. It's in a rural area, outside the village.
We didn't get time to use the pool, but it looked lovely. A covered pool was under construction (summer 2008) which will be great off season.
It's the only site I've ever been to where a free bouncy castle was provided for the children!
I would definitely recommend this site.

Very easy to find from the motorway, it takes only about 20 min so is a good stopover.
We were greeted by the owner Jackie who was very friendly. He gave us a voucher for 2 free drinks in the bar and told us we could pitch wherever we wanted.
The site is small and has a few chalets at the back, whilst the rest of the pitches, divided by hedging, reserved for touring vehicles.
There are 2 wash blocks (one was closed while we were there) which are clean and modern with hot showers and wash cubicles. The toilets are English style but there is only one large toilet roll outside them, which was empty on a couple of occasions so you might want to take your own.
There is a very small children's play area outside the toilet block.
The restaurant was open in the evenings and the food was pretty good for a campsite. Jackie seems to do the cooking while his wife Therese works out front. They both speak good English. The takeaway was also still in operation for pizza and chips etc.
The site shop is in reception and sells basic items and as there is no shop in the village to speak of, you need to drive to Nouille pont pierre to the Super you which is good and also sells petrol.
This is obviously a popular overnight stopover and there were new people arriving and leaving all the time, but despite this it was still very relaxing and peaceful. The wonderful weather helped.
The outdoor pool had closed about a week before we arrived but they are building a small indoor pool and jacuzzi which looks like it might be finished for next year.
This is a very pretty area and the site is well positioned for visiting all the chateaux. We can highly recommend Villandry which has amazing gardens. Tours is also very good for shopping.
We really enjoyed our stay here and fully intend to return next year.
