Well what a fantastic place this is, and right on our doorstep, every time we visit we feel like we have had a lovely holiday. And that’s just the fishing side of it.
The most beautiful lakes, small and large, sooooo many fish, I have never seen so many, my son and grandson caught 48 in one day!
I haven’t met the guys that run this place but my son says they are great people, the grounds are tidy grass cut,
There are no amenities like cafe hut or anything so take lunch with you. And the toilet let’s it down Which is a shame, but Clearly aimed at fisherman, . Lol.
There is fresh drinking water outlet. , but there is a pub just diwn the rod in the village.
Saffron walden is only a couple of miles away with small unique shops and cafes etc.
It is so very relaxing and tranquil, absolutely beautiful. , and for just £8 per adult and £5 per child for a full day’s fish, And I believe £7 per night to camp, well. My family are hooked ! Thanks guys.

This is a little gem of a site.
When I read the reviews I was put off it in a big way. We almost changed our mind at the last minute and stayed at home.
The site is quiet with plenty of room between the units. It's a pitch-up-anywhere site - I like those.
There are views over the fishing lakes and the countryside and you'll wake up in the morning to the sound of birdsong mixed with the occasional vintage aircraft overhead from Duxford.
If you expect a site to have all the latest and best facilities; this one is certainly not for you.
Nearby Saffron Walden is worth a visit. It is full of esoteric shops and quirky cafes and restaurants, we loved it.
The drive to the site from our mid-Essex home was challenging. Maybe next time we'll follow the M11, that's bound to be easier.

Just spent the weekend at home farm and unfortunately picked the wettest weekend rain rain and more rain, but the fishing more than made up for it.
The site is very tidy nicely cut grass and hedges, no rubbish around, toilet in small shed but for a fishery cant complain, flush toilet, sink, hand towels and soap.
Owner very cheerful type of person, we was able to camp next to the small lake and the fishing was excellent.
If you don't use sat nav, its easy to find. Go to saffren walden and follow signs to little warden when you enter village turn left at the crown pub.
Few meters come to a phone box in middle of road take right fork and follow your nose 2 minutes and its on the right. Had a very wet week end but will return.

This site is very cheap and you get what you pay for!
The filthy toilet and grim handbasin were in a dirty shed.
There are no facilities to have a wash, or to wash up on this site.
I would not recommend camping with a family for longer than one night. Really this site is aimed at fishermen.
However, the pitches are flat and ground is soft.
There is a pub nearby and this is a good location for days out in Essex and Cambridge.

We camped here in April for one night with our two boys. It is indeed a lovely looking site but facilities are very basic (although cheap). There is a toilet, but there are no other amenities at all.
The toilet is just a hut with a toilet and hand basin (no hot water, no shower). I had to repair the toilet door. Then I had to clean the sink of discarded MacDonalds coffee cups. The ground was fairly waterlogged (not the owners fault) and you would have difficulty reaching the far end of the site with a caravan unless you had four wheel drive.
It is also not signposted and is off the beaten track. You will need to get directions from the owners or use Multimap to find the location as some satnav units cannot accurately find the postcode (we ended up 2 miles away). Another thing to note is the house where you pay is not the farmhouse although (again) this is not signposted and we knocked on the wrong door.
There is a nice pub a couple of minutes walk away and Saffron Walden is only 5 minutes down the road. If basic and not terribly clean is your thing then this is your type of place.
