Just returned from a long weekend visit to the Plough Inn CL site. What a gem, the site is very well kept with the added bonus of the use of the pubs toilets via a key given to you on arrival. The pub itself is really lovely and quirky with good food and cask beers plus many other unusual drinks from Lindisfarne. The staff were extremely friendly and very helpful from arrival to departure and for £14.00 a night very good value for money. It is in an ideal spot for touring the area, and we had some fabulous walks around Berwick and on Holy Island definitely a site that we will use again and it comes highly recommended.

Just returned from a 9 night stay on this site over Easter, the site was well maintained and the toilets were very clean. The pub was lovely and very quaint, just what I hoped to find, log fire, warm welcome and good beers! The owners were very welcoming and friendly as were the rest of the staff and locals to the pub. We only ate once there but it was lovely food, (drank there quite a lot tho!).
Close to Berwick and many attractions and easy to find off the A1. There were 3 vans in our party with 4 young lads and 5 dogs! we are always watchful over them all and had no problems at all.
Overall a lovely little site. Now for my grumbles, in the site finder it stated £12 a night it was actually £14 but that's ok, not updated yet and £2 per awning, that's ok to.
It's a pleasure to state that this site has not jumped on the band wagon of charging per dog, per day, this is unreal! a money making racket, which is putting a lot of people off sites.
My other little concern is the tight access to this site, the gates on entry are close so be careful.

What a Gem.
We visited the site very late July and what a lovely location it has.
The ground was good and dry, and the owner keeps the grass short, whilst there is a road to the front its not an issue with very little noise to disturb you.
We did visit the pub for a drink, again there was a warm welcome, the site is appx four miles from Berwick and close to Holy Island.
A great time was had, give it a go you will not be disappointed.
Remember this is a CL however the owners allow you access to the toilet facilities in the pub even when its closed!

We have just returned after a 10 day break and what a Great place it is.
My wife and I were very impressed with the pub, the site and the location, so if you are in
The area, give them a try and I'm sure you will not be disappointed.
The owners of the Plough, Trevor and Julie cannot do enough for you.
Their meals are delicious with plenty of fresh vegetables and choice. Trevor a trained chef
Does all the cooking.
The bar has all the usual drinks but in addition they also sell two Guest Real Ales, these
Change every week and Trevor keeps them in excellent condition.
Julie runs the bar and is very friendly as are the staff and all the local characters we
Met in the pub.
The all grass site is situated on a crossroads therefore in an excellent location to visit
The many beaches and castles in the area.
There is 24hr access to separate Ladies and Gents
Toilets.
In addition if you don't wish to take your caravan then the plough has a static
Caravan for hire. They also do bed and breakfast.
All in all we had a great time and will visit again.

A lovely site with views out across the hills. We didn't have use of the facilities (so I can't comment on the quality) as we arrived on a Monday (adjacent owners pub closed on Mondays), another camper offered to loan us his key but we thought this would be fraught with possible problems, so we used our own facilities. Would like to visit again when we are not just using as an overnight stopover. I have submitted this one so that potential users can be aware that Monday arrivals may leave them without access to any facilities. No arrangements were made by the owners to ensure we had access to the toilets etc even though the arrival date was pre-booked.

We spent the weekend here and absolutely loved it. Very laid back approach to where we pitched and what time we arrived/left. 16amp outlets which are always a bonus. All grass so in January it takes a lot of care to get the caravan onto the pitch without turning the grass into a mini Glastonbury. Something we were smugly able to do as 4x4 owners! The only very minor gripe about the site itself is that during our visit, the field based drinking water tap was not working and neither was the waste disposal grey water' tap; however, given the recent Artic weather this is entirely understandable. There is a second drinking water tap however on the side of the pub and being only 1/4 of an acre, it was no effort at all to use this for both purposes (having put the fresh water in a container of course and carried it around the back to the waste disposal point for 'flushing'!).
The pub is superb. Couple of real ales and two splendid, well stocked log fires. Every morning they were made up early and you could smell the faintest nuance of wood smoke across the site -- absolutely terrific. The service and food in the pub was second to none. It really did have the feel of home cooked yet restaurant quality -- a hard trick to pull off. I remarked that the food really did feel like it had been made with care -- again, something that is not always easy to find.
All-in-all an absolute gem of a site. Close enough to Berwick to be handy and yet far enough away to forget about everything. Can't wait to go back.

What a great little gem of a site. We have just spent Christmas here and had a fantastic time.
Food and beer were great, the owners Trevor and Julie could not have been more friendly or helpful. The local regulars make you feel right at home.Toilets are clean and warm although there are no showers, electric is a full 16amp which is very useful in cold weather. It would benefit from a better chemical waste disposal point, especially in freezing conditions.

A well maintained CL with friendly and helpful owners.
We ate in the pub and I would summarise it by saying the food was nice but not particularly good value, there was just the two of us but I suspect a family would find it very expensive to leave feeling filled. The beer however is very well kept and good value.
The toilets are typical pub toilets. We used our caravan facilities.
The campsite nestles on a crossroads; we were approx 10 foot from the road. We stayed midweek and noise from the road was noticeable and at times intrusive. The B6534 and its offshoots are busy with quite a lot of (non agricultural) heavy vehicle movement, general local traffic as well as activity at the large storage site opposite.
Check the price before you use the site, it is more expensive than the average CL, we paid £14 per night (listed on the CC web site as £11 inc awning).
Having said all of that the site is in a lovely area of the country and you can take your choice from beaches, countryside, towns and attractions. It was another trip where we ran out of time before running out of things to do.
Marshals are an excellent camping and outdoor clearance warehouse on the outskirts of Berwick (approx 4 miles) where you can buy anything you forget or break. They do an excellent range of branded discounted outdoor clothing.

I could write a long review but I would only be repeating what other have written. I fully agree with Sully44's review. We used the pub toilet but used the shower in the caravan.
We didn't eat in the inn but it was certainly popular with the locals. It also had a pool table which we enjoyed and the beer was not over priced. Ideal for a stop over and we will use it again

Very friendly family run site. Clean with superb views. We used the pub toilets which were clean and tidy. Although we have no kids there is a lovely safe play area available.
The pub itself is a delightful old inn freshly decorated inside and out. The restaurant serves superb local food (seafood was my favourite!) and the bar area was full of interesting and friendly people and real ales!
The whole place looks loved and looked after by the owners. We shall definitely be coming back!
