Just returned from this lovely site stayed for two weeks and very impressed with the staff and facilities. Agree with other reviews re facilities. Would recommend pitches near to the pool (they are huge) and of course don't forget toilet roll and soap! The donkey was a little loud at 6am and 7am but friendly and enjoys carrots! (bit like a rooster). The family who have owned the camp and farm for 25 years are lovely people and supply wine fruit and bread everyday. It was almost all french campers apart from one other lovely english family whom we had a great time with - thanks! Would recommend this site to families with younger children, it allows them a lot of freedom there and nothing to ask for money for. Would definitely return to this campsite and to the surrounding area as it has lovely beaches just 10 miles away with plenty of parking and space to play and swim.

As a family of four (two adults & two children aged 8 & 5 years) we have just returned from an 11 night break at Le Ragis in our folding camper with electric hook up. I would describe it as a very friendly, safe, clean & welcoming campsite, owned and run by a very conscientious French family (the daughter who is involved in most activities speaks English too).

The owners are so friendly they even offered for us to hang our washing on their line because it was more windy there!

It is a very French campsite with a small farm setting, and has a combination of several static units (I believe these are owned by regular French guests) barn conversions & tent pitches. It has ample facilities & activities without being too overcrowded or commercialized.

The campsite is situated in a country location away from the main road but close enough to Challans for shopping etc.

The pitches are mostly separated by hedges and when you book you get the opportunity to request a specific pitch location e.G. Shaded, sunny, near the pool, toilets etc. We were personally shown two pitches & offered the choice on arrival.

On site facilities include:

4 shower & toilet (like British toilets) blocks which are at various parts of the campsite & are cleaned every morning but do still have the familiar French toilet smell (some are definitely more modern than others). They (as most French campsites) do not have toilet paper or soap in them so be prepared. However there was always hot water.

Three playgrounds at different parts of the campsite with trampolines & a BMX area (some mud ramps) that are great for the children to ride their bikes over (FREE). There is also crazy golf (1.50 E), a fishing lake, outdoor exercise area, boules, volley ball & football nets and a small indoor games room. There are also a few farm animals too (FREE)

Bike hire (all sizes are available)

Two large swimming pools, one is heated and two small splash pools, and a third pool which is at the bottom of the water slides (FREE). These are all next to each other & have showers & toilets next to them. They are really clean & safely fenced off so that any wandering children won't accidentally fall in. There are no lifeguards but there are loads of sun beds & chairs and they're not all squashed together so you can basically sit right by your children when you're not in the pool with them.

There is also a Fishing lake on site (FREE) but there were quite a few dead fish round the edges and some oil floating on the water when we went. However when I told the campsite owners they seemed very concerned and to be fair the dead fish were removed the next day.

Entertainment: There is a notice board which gets altered every day. The entertainment is in a barn away from the camping area which is great because if you choose not to be involved it doesn't disturb you. It is however all in French so unless you are reasonably fluent be prepared to guess what's going on during the shows! Our children loved the clown show!(FREE)

There is a snack van on site which serves pizzas, chips, burgers and fantastic crepes. We tried several and they were definitely the best! There is also a delivery of fresh bread every morning and this is ordered by filling in a list on the notice board.

There is also a colouring competition once a week, a ride round the campsite in a cart towed by Chocolate the donkey & a ride round being towed by a tractor. (FREE)

There are several huge supermarkets within 2 miles of the campsite, and Challans is a very pretty town and has the largest market in the region.

Basically the campsite is great if you just want to chill and enjoy the quiet, great if you want to be busy, great if you want to socialize (mainly with French guests). It is perfectly located for visiting the west coast & great for all kinds of shops including creperies too!.

We visited this site for the first time this year with some friends of ours and their children. When we arrived we were greeted by the owners daughter who spoke very good English and were shown to our pitches. We had booked in advance via the internet. Our pitches were on the outskirts of the site which was by no means a negative as they were 250m2 in size. Could not believe it! had to borrow an extension lead from the owner at no charge.
The site is rustic with 3 toilet blocks with oodles of very hot water and hot showers. There are 2 trampolines for the kids, 3 playgrounds, 3 pools - 1 with slides, 1 for toddlers and another bigger pool. The larger not being heated but with the weather so good it wasn't necessary.
There is no bar on site although there is a snack shack open between 11am and 10pm serving coffee ice creams and snacks, each night there is also a set meal on offer. We had the fries a couple of times which were very good but not the meal. There was entertainment in the barn on the other side of the campsite each evening for all ages. The good thing being that the noise did not travel across the site.

There was something for everyone and the site attracted people of all ages. The local area is great with Challan only 2 km away. Will go again!
