This is the second year we have stayed at this site. We had requested a pitch in the row facing the 'seaview pitches' and were pleased to be allocated one.
We had brought our awning with us this year, and by the time we had set up there was not a great deal of space left on the pitch. However, the pitches were well maintained and tidy and most had electric hook ups.
The toilet block is modern and on the whole kept clean. There is plenty of hot water too.
There is lots to do for kids with a play area and jumpy castle next to the nice (but cold) swimming complex. Over the road (in the static caravan area) there is a football / basket ball pitch with table tennis available too. There are two tennis courts and the site provides free tennis racquet hire although there is a fee for the court hire.
There is a nice terraced area next to the bar and entertainment of some description was held most nights, although it is mainly French based due to the strong contingency of French campers. However, all of the staff can speak English to varying degrees.
From the site there are good bike routes, and we often cycled into Penestin itself. It took about 20 mins. Penestin is small but perfectly formed! There are a few eating places and shops selling nice stuff (no pound shops / seaside tatt here). There is a big market held twice a week and is well worth a visit. We also cycled around the bay, there are little beaches all over and when the tide is out you often see people looking for / collecting oysters and mussels.
Unfortunately the weather was not as good this year and for three nights we were exposed to very strong winds gusting up to gale force 7 off the Atlantic Ocean. There was no protection from these winds and at times it was quite frightening. We really had to 'batten down the hatches.'
The only other negative aspect I felt this year was the amount of dogs on the campsite which although most appeared to be on leads, we did come across dog dirt on our pitch (nice early morning find) and on on one of the campsite paths. However Reception did promptly send someone to clean it up.
We would return in the future as it has a nice atmosphere and there is plenty to do on site and in the surrounding area.

Have just returned from this site with my wife and 2 children (ages 5 & 10). Great location for the beach, literally yards with fantastic views, - unfortunately their website does not do it any justice. Good clean toilet and shower block but only 5 ladies and 6 gents cubicles. Pool area is great for the children and the shop and bar area are well stocked and fairly priced. The evening entertainment program looked to be fun for those that like that sort of thing. Children's club was enjoyed by my two and it was free to all. Our only grumble is that the pitch that we had was too small for our Outwell Nebraska XL tent. There were bigger pitches but they seemed to be reserved for our continental cousins and at night, not everyone observed the 11 o' clock code of silence - but then, they are on holiday! Would we recommend? Yes,

We have just returned from our first trip abroad and were thoroughly pleased with our choice of site. We were looking for a site close to the coast with a good swimming pool complex and just enough entertainment to keep us and our 2 daughters ( ages 7 and 6 ) entertained without being kept awake all night. We decided to have a mobile home for our first trip and check out the campsite in case we might decide to return in the future. The modern mobiles were in a seperate section to the camping pitches and were all seemingly new and provided everything required for a very comfortable stay. An outdoor patio set with parasol was very welcome along with the barbecue which was big enough to cook enough food for a family of four, all you had to provide was the charcoal and food. The camping section of the park was a 50 metre stroll from the mobile home section and this was where the reception, shop, bar, restaurant and takeaway were all situated along with the swimming pool complex. Reception was very friendly with English being spoken by all the staff we encountered and notices and information were in most languages, including English. One of the reasons we picked this site was because it had a good range of facilities but with only 119 camping pitches and around 40 or 50 mobiles it was never too busy. On the hottest of days the pool was never crowded and our 2 had many a good time while we parents enjoyed a drink or bite to eat on the terrace while being able to keep an eye on them. The bar too was never particularly busy and service was swift and cheerful. Having a good look around the ( full ) campsite there were a good variety of pitches to accommodate all sizes of tent and tourer. Around 10 of those pitches were seperated from the beach by a hedge and it would seem prudent to book these early if you wanted to fall asleep to the sound of the waves lapping the shore. Even though it was quite windy the week we were there the clever use of hedges and trees broke the wind up very effectively and I couldnt see even strong winds being a problem on this site. Washing, toilet and shower facilities seemed very clean ( the shower block may have just recently opened ) and our kids used them regularly even though we werent camping but they happened to be close to the pool and there were no queues that we noticed. When we return, which is a certainty for next year we will take our tent and make sure we ask for a pitch not too close to reception which could be a bit noisy as it is also near to the bar which although laid back had entertainment of a low key type, karaoke, hog roast etc that could upset the early to bed types. There was a good mix on this site, predominantly French but a fair amount of Brit, Dutch, German and Belgian as well. A big thumbs up from us !
