We spent a weekend at this campsite and I think it would be helpful for fellow travellers if we added our views.

First of all you have to remember that this camp site is on a working arable farm, so it would appear that they are not reliant on the income generated from tourists. Now this point is important because I think it impacts on the facilities that the camp site has to offer.

As campers we have stopped on sites with excellent facilities that have won national awards and ones with nothing but a space in a field with a chemical toilet and a cold water tap !

The field for tents which we used does not have electric hook-ups, this is only available in the caravan field. The tent field is gently sloping in places, which is a bit of a bind when trying to set up a gas cooker ! There is one corner which is flat, but two tents had already nabbed that spot.

The toilets were reasonably clean but basic. In the mens and womens there was only one shower cubicle which costs 50p for about 4/5 min. The hand basins have cold water only and the one sink for pot washing only had cold water coming out of the single tap. So after our first venture of washing pots we decided it was better in the tent with our own hot water.

Now the aforementioned may sound negative and I think the owners could do a lot more than they are. On the plus side, it is only one mile from the Abbey and is now the nearest regular site that actually accepts tents. I don’t think hot water in the toilets is a lot to ask and certainly would go a long way in appeasing me.

Would we go again ? the answer is probably yes, due to the location.

Just spent 2 nights here, found it very friendly with well spaced out pitches. Lovely views. It took us 35 mins to walk along the road to Whitby Abbey, a little longer along the cliff but a pleasent stroll.

Being in a tent found it a bit of a bind with it only having cold water for pot washing I was pleased we went for hook up and could boil the kettle quickly, that said I wouldn't have used the pot washing sink anyway it being in same room as toilets and the shower.
I feel the building next to the toilets could be made bettter use of, it has a dusty sort of table tennis table with no balls, information leaflets and reading books. Oh yeah and the showers were 50p which I feel is a bit steep. We were charged £17 per night as they charged less for out 2 girls, had we have paid the full £22 per night as advertised I would have expected better facilities. We did have a brilliant time and the people who keep their caravans there are very very friendly.
We would go again despite the gripes.

Firstly thanks to Glyn and Stewart for the warm welcome.

Lovely Site, Well laid out.

Good points
Gorgeous views (especially the sunset)
Hardly any bugs
Friendly Welcome
Well spaced out between pitches
Plenty of bins / water taps

Bad points
Toilets a bit of a trek from the tent area.
Showers in the toilets is not really a good idea, they should be separate from toilet area.

Overall 8 out of 10

Just returned from an 8 night stay at this campsite. Owners are very friendly and were accommodating of all our needs. Our friends who were in a tent were allowed to camp in the caravan field next to us so that we could still have electric hook up. Very reasonable prices.

Stunning views all around the site, very peaceful location, and the site on the whole was quiet as a lot of the caravans appear to be permanently kept on the site. Showers were always hot, only had to wait once and they are free. Site is very well looked after and has a milkman that visits each morning with milk and newspapers. Hawkser is about 25 minutes walk away and has a pub serving food with Whitby a similar distance going the opposite way.

On the downside the hand basins in the toilet only have cold water as do the washing up sinks but apart from that it is an excellent campsite and we will definitely be returning.

What a warm welcome by the owners and their three little dogs! For us as a dutch cycling family it is strange to be refused at campsites because of "no tents" or "adults only". For all who want to go to Whitby by tent: go to this place, put your bike at the abbey and walk into town.
Fresh eggs, milk and newspapers are sold on the campsite every morning. Critics: toilets, showers and dishwashing inside the same small unit.

We found this site just in front of the farm house and it was all we needed. The peace and quiet of the site, and the views of Whitby, plenty of footpaths for walking, and a 20 min walk to the nearest pub,(either way), what more did we need!
With the famous Whitby Abbey so close we just had to visit the legendary steps and try our legs on all 199 of them. We made it!
The local beach was very quiet when we visited and we were lucky to have timed it right, the sea was all the way out so we had a good walk along the beach to Whitby.
Perfect, will visit again, but must book in advance as the pitches were all taken for this Easter, even the Static was booked. But we were told we could take a tent, no thanks, we like our luxurious motor home too much!
