This is an excellent site. We stayed there for a couple of nights to try out our new tent, which was also very good!

The people who run the site are very friendly and helpful, the area we had to pitch our tent was huge, with a great deal of privacy. This site is quite a distance from the shops, so stock up well, but we chose this particular place as part of our visit to Tutbury Castle, which is approximately 3 miles away. This is also the closest village. Utoxetter is about 5 miles away.

We didn't bother about electric for this weekend, having already decided it was more of a back to basics weekend for us, without the kids, although we do plan to take them another time, there were quite a few children there, playing outdoor games. Makes such a change from computers and stuff!

On the first morning as we were having breakfast, we found we had quite an audience. A wonderful herd of cows with calves and all, watching us for a while, I suppose to see if we were a threat. They are beautiful animals, but its important to keep dogs under control.

It was very easy to find, and the sunsets were fantastic. The owners also made a point of getting to know the dog. So I would particularly recommend to dog owners. I suppose the other benefit was the weather. Scorching hot, but we definitely plan to go back again. If we waited for the right weather we would never get our tent out!

The facilities consisted of a toilet and shower room, which were kept clean and tidy with plenty of hot water, as there is only room for about five units, we had no problems with queues! All in all a perfect weekend!

We arrived to a very friendly welcome and had been saved a space next to some friends that we were meeting as requested. We were expecting the field to have a slight slope but it felt like more of a hill, there was plenty of wood around to help with levelling though. Gorgeous views and lovely walks. Toilet and shower always nice and clean, only had to queue a couple of times. Basic and cheap as camping should be, a lovely little site that we would definitely return to.

Stayed at Broomhill Farm over the good old August Bank holiday week 2009 - and guess what it rained! Site very unusual to say the least, it is at the back end of the village tucked away, so it is very quiet. We paid £15 per night for our pitch with electric hook up, and it was a first come first served basis go where you like site, nothing formal. There was only one loo and one shower, with the sink in the toilet room, we thought this would be a problem, but with the site full over the weekend (approx 20 units) we did not have to queue once, hence it seems to work quite well (or were we just lucky?). The owners leave you to come and go as you please, and they came to empty the rubbish bins on a daily basis so although the rubbish and re-cycling area got a bit untidy it was controlled. Lovely walk around Ogston Resevoir, but don't take the instructions in the hut, unless you have an OS map! just go to the church in the village and turn right. Quite a lot to do around the area, we visited Matlock and Matlock Bath, hights of abraham were good, but pricey, we paid £33 for a family of 4, but at least we did not have the hike up the hill (or down for that matter). Big Sainsbugs in Matlock with a petrol station. In a nutshell, brilliant if you want a get away from it all holiday. One word of advice though, DO NOT ENTER the field with your caravan through the botton entrance, come up the hill towards the house and use the 2nd entrance - the field is inclined and you will have trouble! Big field adjoining the site for doggie walkes. Site sounds wierd to say the least, but it is lovely, so try it for yourselves.

Excellent site. Have just been there for 10 days in the typically English weather and no complaints. The people who run the site are very friendly and helpful. Although there is only one toilet and one shower this wasn't a problem even when the site was busy, very rarely did we have to wait to use it. The toilet and shower were kept very clean. They provide recycling bins which is great, I just wished fellow campers would have used them instead of just dumping their bags! The field is on a slope but with use of blocks etc tables and fridges etc can be levelled quite easily.

There is loads to do in and around matlock and the park in matlock is great for small kids. It has a great paddling pool which my two loved even in the rain. Would recommend the Tavern at Tansley for a fantastic meal.

Overall a good site with plenty of room for kids to run around in.

We stayed for the weekend. Really a very good site very clean and tidy

There is one toilet and shower. But a lot of people use the caravan toilet, so we did not have to wait.

Its a small site. The owners were very helpful and its not far from Matlock. We did want to leave. But the weather turned for the worst. Rain rain and more rain. Going to return very soon. And the kids loved it

We stayed in the site during the week of heavy snow, and it all looked different obviously to what it would normally. It was a beautiful blanket of white fields.

We immediately got stuck in the snow and rescued from the farmer who runs the campsite. He was very friendly and even put a heater in the toilets to keep us warm when using the facilities. It was not the only time they had to rescue us and everyone who worked (or played) on the farm were helpful and friendly. IT looked like they had fun dragging a sledge round the fields on a 4x4. They could see us from the bottom farm and were very quick to see us getting stuck in the snow on our way out of the site.

There was only one toilet and one shower but this was fine as we were the only ones mad enough to be camping! The shower was lovely and hot.

WE stayed because we have friends in Alfreton and it is really convenient to meet them in Alfreton, or maybe at the local Peacock pub. We walked to Ogston reservoir which was beautiful on a sunny day but we didn't attempt to walk round it due to time.

We would go again! It's no frills but friendly, just what you need :-)

The site is specifically certified for caravan club members but other people are allowed to pitch too. The owners own a 172 acre farm and supply free range eggs, as they own a number of chickens, pheasants and other foul.

The site is small, just one small field. It has one toilet and a shower so you have to wait for it to be free. The views are of nice open fields with a few trees scattered about. There are no playgrounds for children but you can have plenty of walks. The site is dog friendly. Electric hook up for all caravans and tents as required. Chemical and waste disposal. Only one light on the site so usually everyone is in bed early. Amazing for star gazing though.

Usually this is a very quiet site but because it is so cheap and near to Matlock (approximately 10 mins) it is getting full most of the time so if you want to book be quick.

This is a lovely and peaceful campsite at a reasonable price. I stayed with my two children and their friend for two nights. Plenty of hookup points which was a bonus. The field is on a slope and I couldn't see any flat areas anywhere. But this wasn't a problem.

The field itself is quite well protected by trees and shrubs and holds a pleasant view.

The toilet block was clean and well looked after and free to use. Only one loo and one shower may cause queues should it become busy, but when we were there, most visitors were in caravans, so this was fine too.

A brief walk away will lead you to a reservoir, with good birdviewing available.

All in all a pleasant visit, with pleasant owners (they even gave us some free eggs!.

I was given good directions over the phone by Broomhill farm. Directed to a gently sloping meadow, close to the farm house . I arrived late and left reasonable early, but all I can say is this site offered everything you want and no more. It was reasonably priced, in a good location, quiet, friendly, safe - and for those of us that use tents, the soft turf provided a very good nights sleep.

Thank you Broomhill Farm.
