Sorry to say we were very disappointed. For twenty pounds a night we were expecting a little piece of eco paradise.
What we got was dirty showers and toilets with graffiti on the walls, cobwebs and showers that flooded the floor when you turned them on and shower trays that didn't drain away.
The sanitary bin had no liner. Considering it was suppose to be eco friendly there was no sign of any recylcing bins of any kind.
However the site was quiet, and the walk to Bude pleasant along the canal.

Cerenety Eco Camp did not live up to our expectations.
The web site promised 'tame sheep, alpacas, ponies, chickens and rabbits'. We thought it would be worth paying what we though was a premium price of £32 per night (for tent, car, 2 adults, 1 yr old and 3 yr old)as a treat for the children.
When we arrived and eventually found the animals, we were told that the insurance only covered the camping field and not where the animals were, so to be careful of the numerous electrical fences and a non-child friendly dog who has lost its muzzle! The cages many of the small animals were in were not great.
The facilities were fine, if you timed it right you could usually get a warm shower (although the site was quiet) and kids thought composing loos great fun.
Plenty of space for the children to run and lovely to be able to sit around a camp fire at night but no sign of the free wood promised.
Had a great time but felt it over priced for what was just very basic camping.

I really enjoyed staying at Cerenety. The ladies that run it have done a really good job and are very welcoming. My favourite bit is the solar showers. We also had great fun with the other residents. Other highlights include: a great view, animals (including alpacas, sheep, horses, goats, ponies, chickens and other pets!), proximity to the town, beach and canal etc etc! Look forward to visiting again next Easter!

Wow, what a fantastic campsite! I've done a lot of camping over the years and this one is easily the best I have stayed at!
I loved how eco friendly it was! The compost toilets and solar showers were such a welcomed change to what you normally get in other campsites. (If at all in some of them)
I loved helping out with the animals and have never met such a friendly bunch! Friendly sheep, goats and alpacas, as well as 4 gorgeous horses, all wanting attention (which may have been due to the food I was holding). What an experience to be able to feed them all everyday we were there (sometimes twice a day if we were lucky!)
I would definitely recommend this campsite to anyone, young or old, if you want a quiet and peaceful stay, with the added bonus of knowing you're not damaging the environment, or your bank balance.
The owners were always on hand to help with any queries and were willing to do whatever they could to make our stay as good as possible.
Thank you Cerenety for such a fantastic stay, I shall be back in Easter (and probably many more times after that)

My family and I had a wonderful time at the Eco Camp Site. It was ideally located, walking distance from all the facilities of the town and beaches. It was a truly back to nature experience, which is so difficult to find in an age of electric hook up, club entertainment and concrete.
The casual atmosphere and the owners willingness to help in any situation really made our holiday very enjoyable.
The kids loved the animals. A bell was rung every day to indicate feeding time, and we all jogged down to join the owner 'doing the rounds'.
I would definitely recommend this campsite to anyone wanting a traditional countryside experience. We'll definitely be going back again.

If you want quiet, relaxing, and back to nature experience then this is it. It was exactly what I wanted. There were at least 5 or six other campers at any one time during our 5 night stay. We took our dog and respected the owners wishes not to let it off the lead, unlike other campers. The beaches and surf were very close. Bude is a lovely town and it is a lovely walk along the canal.
The owners- two sisters- were very pleasant, generous and helpful, although they are struggling to keep on top of things. The wind turbine didn't work and hadnt done for some time, they have a new one but are struggling to put it up. The toilets are still full of cobwebs, but were cleaned regularly. The hot water was pretty much non-existent, but Bude's beaches offered hot showers. Where there is a will, there is a way.
As it rained a fair bit, there is definitely some work to do with stoning the driveway, one car lost some of its bumper and damage underneath driving into the second field, the entrance was also extremely muddy and most of us had difficulty getting in and out, there were a few frustrated campers throughout the week. The lanes leading to the campsite are very tight and you have real trouble finding it in the day never mind the dark.
I was quite happy to overlook all this as I was having the rest of my life, my 8 year old son loved the animals, but the 'feeding' and coming to collect the children to help out only happened on one day, which really disappointed him ( This was one of the main reasons I chose this site)
There are two adorable sheep that are very friendly,we were able to light a campfire and the owners have wood which they are only too happy to let you have. We had a lovely family from London next to us and spent evenings sat round the campfire chatting,a real bonus.
I for one am going back this year and for a few days longer, it was a great base if you want to chill,if you are looking for modern conveniences, noise and clatter then I wouldn't bother.
The owners really are a lovely pair of women who try and do as much as they can for you. Oh there was a disaster with the toilets, this was due to some errant children putting ALL the sawdust down the toilet in one go, it blocked completely and took the owner a few hours hard labour to clear it all, but all was well in the end.

The previous review was quite correct we, the owners had a difficult year (2009) and had no time to give proper attention to the campers and the facilities, for this we do apologize however many people still returned this year. I am happy to say that we are back on track and the facilities are kept spotlessly clean. If you go to our website there you will find many new animals and information.

I have now been to the Cerenety camp site several times and would have to recommend it. The two sisters that run it are really helpful and welcoming.
The site is a great place to stay, its always very quiet and there is loads of space. One of the major attractions for me is the opportunity to help/play with the animals.
The owners are always really encouraging and are very good with the animals.
Would also highly recommend it for families with kids who are looking for the 'country side' experience. Will definitely be going back!

We loved this site. Wonderful view of bude. Took our bikes and cycled into bude a couple of times and also cycled on nearby camel trail.
There was only us and one other tent in our field and one tent in next field.
The composting toilets were incredibly non smelly and solar heated water for showers worked well - did check temperature of water before attempting a shower as no back up boiler.
The children loved helping feed the alpacas and also had lots of fun climbing on the hay bales which we used as a wind break as it was the windiest place I'd ever been for the first 2 nights.
When the wind dropped it was a totally different place.
Only complaints were there was definitely no cleaning happening in the toilets showers and washing up facilities other than what the other campers and myself did. Cobwebs everywhere, toilets and showers didn't smell as they obviously have hardly any visitors - a bonus for us. However I gave all the sinks a good scrub during my visit choosing one a day not exactly what I had in mind.
Also it was virtually impossible to find the owners most of the time, they froze a cold pack for me but I couldn't get it back for 3 days!
Simple solution would be to provide a freezer for campers to use and to have an hour a day when the owners are in should they be needed.
