Lovely site set on an island in the river Dordogne. Friendly staff, English spoken, very helpful. Some pitches by riverside, all well kept, plenty EHU and water points. Showers and toilets clean and well kept, although when we visited there were some issues with electricity supply, soon rectified. Large swimming pool with child facilities. 500m walk to town for bread, shops, bars restaurants etc. Good walks by river. Recommend this site highly.

An excellent site which is becoming more popular with Brits in the low season using the Acsi Card at 12 Euro a night, extra 2 euro for a river bank pitch. All pitches are under trees and of a good size. Facilities were spotless and being extended whilst we were there to provide more wash cubicles.
Just a short stroll into the town for bread and an excellent butcher. Short drive to an Intermache and fuel.
Lovely walks and cycle rides from the site.
Highly recommended.

Family of four, 2 adults and 2 kids, aged 11 and 9. VW T5 camper van and Khyam awning.
Nice friendly site, tested my French when we booked in as they speak limited English. Coped alright and taken to our pitch by the husband in his golf trolley. We were pitch 10 which was right on the river, the only problem was the weir which is nearby, can be quite noisy so I'd recommend a pitch further down the island if you're in a tent and bothered by a constant noise.
The toilet blocks were cleaned regularly and use a squegee to clean the tiled floors, much better than brown water and a minging mop. There is no toilet roll or soap, so make sure some is at hand before you trek over there.
The bar area is clean and suitable for kids, the pool is clean and tidy and no over zealous lifeguard. Responsibility is down to the parents, its all common sense really, they also weren't bothered about wearing board shorts, we wore trunks underneath in case anyone asked.
This site is ideally placed for a lot of the attractions in the area, we canoed down the river. Go on a morning expedition as you hire for the day, we did a 3hr trip and started after lunch and it was a constant 3hrs rowing. If we'd gone in the morning we could have stopped along the way and had a 'pique nique. ' We also did Rocamadour and there are a few chateaus nearby. We ate in a lovely restaurant in town called Veloute, great food and fantastic service, owned by a Scottish couple.
Great little town, the market was good and the Boulangerie was the best in the mornings, my daughter tried her French out and it worked. We headed over to Sarlet de Caneda on the Saturday morning for their market, what a beautiful place, it goes on and on with stalls everywhere in the beautiful narrow streets. We passed through Martel on the way there, wished we'd stopped there as well as it was very picturesque.
The site is a Flower Camping site, we've ordered the 2012 brochure and hoping to get away next year again. The wife and kids are now hooked on France and the relaxed way of life. We'd definitely go back, lots of Germans, French and Dutch with a few Brits in between. Everyone said Hello and it was a laid back atmosphere.
TOP TIPS: Buy your diesel from the local supermarket, we paid E1. 28 a litre. Rent a fridge from reception for a week, our cool box struggled to keep food cool in the heat.

Family of four with two Boys 2 and 8, Granny came along too, we stayed for ten nights.
A great family friendly site, all the facilities you could need. Lovely pool with a new children's paddling area next to it, play area is fantastic again with a new bouncy castle which our boys loved and even though it was peak season there was plenty of room. We bought some ping pong bats/balls as well and had great fun, especially Granny! Most Pitches are adequate in size for our large tent, we were lucky to get a really private one which suited us perfectly.
The river is right next to the site and again the children loved paddling and fishing, we also took out a Kayak with our eldest which was a good experience for him and us. Kayaks can be rented just outside the campsite near to the public playground (also great for the kids) and you are collected and brought back when you finish your trip.
We didn't eat at the on site facilities but they seemed popular, we did use the Bar which wasn't bad value and the beer was nice and cold on a hot day while making use of the free wi-fi. Staff were all pleasant, friendly and helpful.
Being right next to the town, there are a couple of small supermarkets in the town with the usual Boulangerie, butchers bars and restaurants within walking distance, we went to a Creperie which is just outside the campsite which was great value with fantastic food, the local pizzeria is also close by and worth using. A walk or drive over the bridge and you will find an Intermarche which is larger and also has a 24hour milk machine provided by local farmers.
All in all a great site, we would definitely consider staying again!

We're a family of four (kids aged 5 and 7). We really liked this campsite. We chose it as it was within walking distance of a town and because the reviews we'd found were positive. We also liked it.
The site is not especially well sign posted in Beaulieu, and the site entrance is height restricted to 3m with single vehicle width. For new arrivals you need to cross the bridge before parking on the right and then booking in.
Reception staff were welcoming, friendly and efficient. You are shown to your pitch by golf buggy. Pre booking is advised in peak times. We did meet people who hadn't booked, but they had to move around pitches as they became available. Mostly Dutch and French with a few British campers. Campsite was quiet after 11pm and this was well observed.
We booked one of the privilege pitches which border the Dordogne. We had pitch D3 and the river was literally at the end of the pitch, with the authorised bathing spot to our left. It meant we were near the weir, which can be noisy, but it was a beautiful spot.
The pitch comfortably held a Bear Lake 6, car and trailer with room to spare. However, not all pitches are a uniform size or shape so some pitches on this site may be problematic for larger tents/units with awnings. Most pitches are shaded under trees. Note: rock pegs might come in useful - lots of pebbles.
The nearest sanitary block to us was kept clean and standards were high. The block itself had four showers and six loos (two turkish style)with separate wash basins in cubicles. No plugs. It could get crowded at times but we never really had to wait. The other blocks provided more showers and toilets, plus washing machines.
On site there was a bar which served food (not used so no review possible)and a swimming pool area which has been recently updated and now has a good children's pool. The main pool was a uniform depth and water was generally warm. It could get very busy at times but it never felt overly crowded. The decking can get very hot under foot and there is limited shade. Sun loungers are provided and there is a reasonable number of them. Swimming trunks only, no bermuda shorts, again the rule was well observed.
The children's play park consisted of a couple of springy ride ons, see saw, and a multi climbing frame with swings, monkey bars, and a slide. There were also a couple of table tennis tables, and a petanque pitch. There is no dedicated area for ball games. Our kids were happy with the facilities but maybe for teenagers options are limited.
The town of Beaulieu is absolutely beautiful and not overly touristy. The Intermarche is five minutes by road over the river in Altillac and there is a LeClerc about 10 mins away in Bretenoux. It was a good base for the upper Dordogne.

We stopped here en route to Spain and although the site was nice we found it was nearly an hour and a helf from the A20, which we considered too far for an overnight stopover.
Not helped by the fact we got lost and went down a dead end looking for the site in the town and it was soo hot and tyres and flip flops were sticking to the tarmac. Loads of Mossies here to. Site was fairly clean and well shades, but pitches were quite small.
Arrived at 6pm and had not trouble finding a pitch and owners were friendly and helpful. Pool small for teenagers but ideal for smaller children. I would not be using the site again purely due to the distance from the motorway

All the reviews are correct.
In two minds about praising further as everyone will go there and the prices go up!
At the moment it is 11 euros ACSI.
The market square, over the footbridge from the site has 2 small supermarkets, and just over the river in Altillac there is an Intermarche which has cheap petrol.
The site is idyllic and probably the best, most interesting and cheap stop over for those madly rushing to Spain.
There is a lot of watersports (kayaking and other macho things for teenagers)

We stopped off at this campsite on our way back to the UK from Carcassonne because the above review was so good. We were not disappointed.
It was very empty when we got there, end Aug beginning of Sept when all the French had gone back to school/work, so we could have camped right on the river (and I mean RIGHT on the river, you can pitch a tent a metre from the rushing water) but the kids wanted to be near the pool.
At this time of year the bar/cafe was closed but we didn't mind as everything in the town is so nearby. The pool was about 1 metre deep along all its length which was great for my kids who were learning to swim. We could sit on the sun loungers and read while they played, knowing they could not get out of their depths. They were hardly out of the water and both learned to swim in the 2 days we spent here - reason enough to love the place!
It was also astonishingly cheap - can't remember exactly but it was about E10 a day! Not sure if this was because it was officially low season? And although we didn't really need the staff, the receptionist was very helpful and spoke good English.
The campsite was clean and quiet (though it was low season, I imagine that might change when its full) and very, very peaceful with all the leafy shade and the sound of running water. There are lovely views and walks to be had along the river, I even swam in it though it was very cold. We can't wait to visit again and spend more time in this gorgeous place.

We've stayed on this site for at least a week on five or six occasions. The site is well-known and very busy in season, and booking would be advisable in peak weeks. The site is beautifully situated on an island in the river Dordogne, with most of the numbered pitches under mature trees for shade. Some pitches may be a little small for a larger outfit. Toilet facilities are well kept and hot showers are included, as is free hot water. There is a small bar, swimming pool (as well as direct river access), playground and entertainment in high season. The town centre is only about 3 minutes walk, and is delightful with several good restaurants and all usual small shops such as bakers, charcuteries, bars, in fact just about anything you may need. The Abbey must not be missed, set in among the tiny streets of the old walled city. Canoes can be rented in the town for the descent from Argentat. The Tourist Office in the main square has details of the many things to do and see, including leaflets of walks in the really attractive countryside. Within an easy day trip are the Gouffre de Padirac (with a boat trip on an underground river), Rocamadour, the medieval castle at Castelnau, the steam railway along the cliffs at Martel, and many more. The town benefits from being just outside the area most holidaymakers call "the Dordogne", (even though it is possibly more attractive than many places in it, as the river here flows through a beautiful wooded valley) and so does not become as heavily overcrowded as some of the famous ones.
