We were at the site in the last week of June and first week of July It is a lovely flat and well maintained site with friendly staff, however 1 large toilet/washing block was cordoned off, leaving only 6 male toilets for the whole site, which had no paper for an entire weekend, despite being cleaned at least twice a day. They are relying on caravanners having their own facilities. The shop was small but did some nice wine and had the essentials, bread can be ordered the night before and was supertasty. We didn’t use the bar. There were three kiddies play areas, one by the pond with swings and the bounciest rocking elephant I have ever seen, some swings and a slide near the reception and quite a large playpark with a climbing wall, swings and roundabout behind the reception block. If your child is over 8 though there isn't much to keep them entertained. Kids club in high season but is mostly aimed at younger children.
The Security on site is laughable, the gate shuts at 10, but there are 3 other ways in that are in no way barred, not even a squeaky gate! Our tent was one of 3 that got slashed (05/07/11) and my partner’s shorts were stolen, go figure. However the Montana is now well and truly bust and the 3 nights that we had left at the site were sleepless with my 9 year old daughter asking what would happen if the robbers came back. It doesn’t really matter how pretty the site is if you end up feeling unsafe in your pitch.
Puy du Fou is an hour away and at least worth a full days investigation, plenty of chateaux, vineyards, troglodytes, abbeys and a fine zoo in the area. There’s a large Leclerc 5 mins drive away in Brissac, and a huge hyperU in Murs- Erigne.
Would I recommend this site? Only if you have a caravan that you can secure.

We really liked this site - it is immaculately maintained, the plentiful washing facilities were the cleanest I've ever come across on a campsite, an absolute pleasure to use. There are flowers and plants everywhere and the pitches are large and well shaded. There's a good mix of nationalities and the site has a very friendly atmosphere. There are three great pools, bike hire, wine tastings and one night there was a band on in the bar. Best of all there's a free kids club every morning from 9.30-12.00 and a 'mini-disco' each evening, fantastic for keeping the children busy!
The park across the road is also great for kids and the free tickets for campers are an excellent bonus. Brissac-Quince is a nice little town with it's very own castle and a fantastic market on Thursdays. There's also a huge E.Leclerc hypermarche. There's a fishing lake on-site and a lovely stream running alongside the site that makes a good walk.
The only downside is that the on-site restaurant isn't very good, but with the town so close it hardly mattered. All in all a lovely stay and we were sorry to leave.

Fully agree with previous reviews on this campsite. Stayed on this site for 11 days in August 2009 with 2 children aged 10 and 6 and can safely say it is the best site we have ever been on.
Toilet and shower blocks immaculately maintained. Never had to queue and water temperature pleasant, ideal for children and lets face it, if they're happy it makes a holiday much more enjoyable! Launderette can be found at the main building as you enter the site as is the shop and reception. Staff are very friendly and the reception has maps of how to get to the local supermarkets. Two play areas with swings and a further main play area around the bar with swings, roundabouts, slides and climbing facilities. Animal corner with goats and rabbits which the children visited every day due to 'newborns'. Fishing lake in the middle of the site, which was well shaded - ideal when you have just arrived and it is 35C. Three swimming pools: a toddler pool, covered and outdoor pool. These were spotlessly clean as were the toilets around the pool. There is a lovely bar area that serves meals and their own Rose wine - superb by the way! Large outdoor chess game and table tennis tables. There is also a kids club, with daily activites and a disco 7.00-8.00.
Across the road is a 'Parc de Loisirs', get your free tickets and discounted tickets from reception. This is ideal for young children, with water slides, tobaggans, pony rides, water rafts and for those in their forties.Remember the traditional playground toys and the 'hamster wheel' barrels. They have one.Not that I went on it!
The local town of Brissac is only about a 20 mins walk along the stream - not worth moving the car for that distance. They have a weekly market and the Chateau is well worth a visit. We were fortunate enough to be there for the International 'Montgolfieres competition'.Hot Air Balloon competition to the rest of us. Superb sight, seeing 100 hot air balloons floating past. Other local attractions include a Zoo at Doue de Le Fontaine (approx 30 mins) and the houses cut in the rock at Rochmenier (20 mins)
The site is excellently maintained and the site employs local people with disabilities. They are very friendly and do a wonderful job. We have never been to the same place twice on holiday. After all the world is a very large place. But when I next go to the Loire Vally - you will find me here!

Our second visit to this site (also in 2008).
Very large level and flat pitches. Very sunny in majority of pitches, trees not mature on all newer pitches. Consequently an open feel to site. Pools cold but great in 35C air temperature. Toilets very clean. Food good but limited choice. Shop OK, but no fruit or vegetables. Cycling from site very easy in multiple routes, with trail markers. Brissac 5 min by car or bike (along river), or 10 minutes walk along river. Market (Thurs) excellent with proper stalls, not much tourist toot-n-tat. Kids club free, including free entrance for children to Parc de Loisirs on Wed PM. Some entertainment at bar. Generally quiet and less than 50% capacity during our stay. Attitude of most staff good especially Dutch run kids club. Mainly British and Dutch campers, some French. Own campsite wine is surprisingly good!
However, we and five other tents got slashed/robbed on Friday night (Aug 14th). Five British, one Dutch. All in our own tents, not the fixed pitch tents. Thieves put towels over lights on the campground, then cut into tents where valuables were likely to be (maybe using shadows). Our tent was even entered with us sleeping in it! They knew just where to look, took clothes out looking for wallets, etc. Thankfully we “only” lost a mobile phone and my 7 yr old kids newish trainers! But damage to tent more significant cost. And people cutting into tents inches away from sleeping children is particularly worrying. No French were attacked – possibly because they would not have passports with them? The attitude of the manageress was complete lack of interest. Not once did she even ask if there was anything she could do to help, apart from indicating on a map where the Gendarmerie was. Apparently a “rare” event however this site was targeted twice last year (2008) also in late Aug. To me, if I was burgled three times within the space of a year this would not be a rare event! She also said the site was too big for night security, although did suggest that they might improve entry / exit for next year – there are three points of entry in addition to the main entrance. The Gendarmes seemed to take it more seriously, and patrolled the site at least twice afterwards.
We really liked this site and even though this was not the direct fault of the campsite the lack of customer care means we are unlikely to return.

A really wonderful site that was loved both by us and the kids. A massive campsite, well laid out and really nice to have a walk round with a felling of space and peace and quiet.
Mostly large pitches some that have side and rear high hedges which are great from the shade – The new section is still marked with hedges but as these have not yet had time to mature; they don’t really offer too much shade or privacy - still massive and very well planned though. We had the perfect location facing one of the kids park (has 2 set of swings) which was also right next to reception. The children played in the sand for hours.
We had a really warm welcome from the reception staff and we were provided with a booklet about the site and its activities i.E. Kids club, Wine tasting etc. , site rules, local details such as dentist, doctors, shopping and site seeing etc.
The reception block is also home to a small shop, 2 toilets and the washing room with 2 washers and a dryer which cost 4.50 Euros per load.
There are about 2 large toilet / shower blocks and I never had to queue and felt that we could take a leisurely shower. They don’t get very hot but are perfect temp for the kids.
They have the most lovely mini herb garden planters with lots of different herbs that you can just help yourself too – a really nice touch. The maintenance of the site is constant – the gardeners are out all day everyday tending to the flowers and plants… it is really well looked after which also makes it pretty to walk round.
They have a large lake that you can fish in – we made the kids a fishing rod and they literally spent hours trying to catch fish. Take a line and a weight and I guarantee hours of fun!
There are 3 swimming pools - 1) really tiny shallow one for small children - was un heated so cold 2) A large shaped swimming pool , again unheated and cold 3) A covered heated pool which was perfect for colder rainy weather… (A heated pool is so important for us as the children often end up turning blue after a while!)
The kids club ran twice a day – the staff walk round the site 'collecting children' and my youngest really enjoyed the craft activities. In the evening about 7pm, they have a kids disco which again, all the kids enjoyed. This is up near the bar / restaurant so the parents can sit with drink / food and keep an eye on their kids. There is also a large park / fields area near to the bar too.
The bar staff are really friendly and made the most gorgeous crepes… this is where the ‘Wine tasting’ takes place which was excellent and lots of fun.
One of the highlights was visiting the 'Parc De loisirs' which you could literally walk to from the site. Reception gave us 2 free kids passes and so it cost just 8 Euros for all 4 of us for an excellent day – it is just like a small amusement park but with a large variety of children's activities / features such as bouncy castles, lots of things to play on , a train, large water slides, toboggans, bikes, go carts, large lego land type area, a mini beach complete with life guard and a few activities on the lake - well worth a day out. We took a picnic and could have probably have spent another day there but didn’t have time. Le Clerc supermarket is a 10 min drive and Brissac village is also about a 10 mins drive with a brillaint Thursday Market.
All in all, I would deffo recommend this site as it is in such a peaceful location – We would definitely go again.

A fantastic site, well signposted from the road. Most of the pitches are huge, probably twice the size as anything in the UK and will accomodate most units. The toilets etc are spotless and the upkeep of these and the grounds are a credit to the staff. You can access the internet on one computer in reception costs 2 Euros for 1 hour or 3 Euros for 2 hours. Cost for tolls from Calais approx 30 Euros. Also there is a great fishing lake with some decent size Carp around the 5 lb weigh but beware I noticed on more than one occasion the presence of rats around the edge and this was even during the daytime. We did not find too much to keep us occupied in the surrounding area which would be my only complaint. Great pool area, never used the bar. Receptionists speak English and were very helpful. Weather was not brilliant but that is beyond our control. Would I go to this site again? yes without doubt though hope to visit more areas of France. You will not be disappointed with this site .

I will agree with the previous reviews. An excellent site with large pitches (150 m sq) and fantastic facilities. We were in the newer part, which had little natural shade, due to the age of the trees, so we put a sun canopy up. The toilet blocks were good and were regularly cleaned.
My children, all under 9, enjoyed the Camping Kids activities which happened three times a day. The pools were excellent, but could get a little crowded at times, though at others we had them to ourselves. Childrens play areas were in several places on the site and got well used.
The bar area served meals and take-aways at reasonable prices, along with the now almost compulsory WiFi access.
Across the road from the site was Parc de Loisirs, which was a play park for children. Entrance was either free or at reduced rate for campers, and well worth the visit. Take your own picnic.
Brissac itself was 10 minutes away, with a good town centre and excellent market. The Chateau is apparently worth a visit, though we didn't manage it with the young children.
The local wine, sold in the site shop was enjoyable and well priced. The shop also supplied bread which could be ordered the previous day. Spit roast chicken could be ordered for 11 Euros, and tasted fine.
The area is paradise for cyclists, with ample local routes and quiet road; they were also available for hire on site.
My children wish to visit the site again next summer.

Thoroughly agree with this review. Although I would say the toilets were cleaned more than twice a day! We never had to queue. The floral displays were superb with a bed of herbs available to help yourself to. Although it did get busy it was still peaceful and the pitches are huge. Definately go again.

We have been to this site several times over the last 10 years and have seen it develop from a 50 pitch site to its present size of 150 or so pitches. We prefer to stay in the original and smaller part of the site, but although all pitches are of a good size, the ones in the newer part are simply huge! They are all individually marked out with bushes and small trees providing welcome shade on most pitches and the vegetation is now fairly well established in all parts of the site.
There are shower and toilet blocks on both parts of the site which are usually cleaned twice a day, with washing-up and laundry sinks also. A washing-machine and tumble dryer are available in the Reception building - buy a token from Reception to use. There is a small shop selling groceries, sweets, drinks etc. And fresh bread etc every morning which needs to be ordered the previous day.
The site caters well for all ages (although there are no specific activities for teenagers)with 2 pools, volleyball and boules pitches, table-tennis tables, a small children's playground, a sports field, a fishing lake, a bar/restaurant with take-away food and its own vineyard - the wine can be bought exclusively from the campsite shop. There is a children's club most mornings and optional activities ranging from football games to Cointreau tasting in the evenings.
We were originally attracted to this site when our children still holidayed with us, as in addition to the above, there is a small playpark with various attractions adjacent to the campsite which offers free or reduced admission to campers. We now enjoy walks and cycle rides in the area and visits to the many attractions within easy reach. Further afield we can recommend Futuroscope and the Puy du Fou.
Although it is always busy in the summer holidays, with mainly Dutch and British visitors, this site has a lovely friendly feel and we also like the fact that this, its sister site near Saumur and the vineyard were set up to provide employment for adults with learning difficulties.
