Have been using Plough Leisure Caravan Park since 2013 as I have family on the island. The site has now been taken over by new owners and instead of the 30 pitches stated that has now increased as mentioned in other reviews,
The new owners and staff are friendly and available to help out if there service is required,
Due to the increase in the amount of pitches the facilities are to be updated (management) Will return to see if improvements have been made later in 2017.
I have only given site facilities 4/10 due to the increase in the amount of pitches because never had any problems with them before.
I know people don't like change and the new owners have got to make the site pay, but is over crowding the right way to go,
Looking forward to my next visit with anticipation.

Firstly, watch out for the directions on the Sat Nav, which does not take you to the campsite! Once there, it is little more than a field with plenty of space for the kids to run around.
With space for around 30 units, it does have a nice small feel, but as mentioned previously, the facilities are basic at best. You have to provide your own toilet roll and soap, and the washing up area, water collection and disposal and toilet emptying point are all in the same place! Personally I prefer a little privacy when emptying the chemical toilet!
The owners seem very friendly, and were great with the kids around the pool. There are no facilities at the pool at all so take drinks etc with you (strictly no glass or animals at the pool).
Local area is what you would expect from the Isle of Sheppey. Rather rundown with lots of seaside towns with amusement arcades and a mixture of sandy and pebbly beaches.
Would we return? – probably not out of choice, but we went with friends and had a lovely weekend in their company so if they invited us again we would probably go, but not for the campsite or the local area.

Very quiet site with very helpful staff who gave us help on places to visit.
Needed large ramps to try and get level.
Play area can be seen from all touring pitches.
Toilet and shower block very clean but need up dating need to take own toilet roll.
No service point for motor homes so need a bucket to empty tank.
Swimming pool does not open until may and unfortunately the club house has closed down but the next door site has one and there is easy access to this from the site.
Because it is a small site we felt safe leaving the motorhome whilst we went out for the day as the staff knew who belonged to each unit and were quick to investigate if they saw strangers around the site. Due to hills around the site we left the bikes in the van and used taxi although there was a bus stop 10 mins walk from the site.

We did come back. We were always going to really. I think my last review was knee jerk and negative because of the company we had that weekend and nothing to do with the park so I can only apologise to Dennis at Plough Leisure. We do really love this place and will certainly be coming back next year!
Just had a lovely weekend here and would recommend to others for sure. The kids have played all weekend on the grass and the park which can be seen from the pitches.
Visited Leeds Castle, Leysdown for all the Arcades a few times and generally had a great weekend :)

Lovely Park on the Isle of Sheppey. Friendly Owner. Basic Cold Faculties but we use our own Shower etc so no odds for us. Nothing here really but there is a small pool on the Static Park you can use in the summer months. We have been here 3-4 times and the last 2 times we have been on site with Noisy Partying Neighbours keeping us awake until 2-3 AM with no regard to the rules of 10:30PM and no one policing it. Not sure we will return.

Have just returned from a wonderful Bank Holiday weekend staying on the touring site. The site was clean and well maintained. The loudest noise all weekend was the Dawn Chorus. Toilet block always clean but basic. You are able to see Childrens play area from Touring site there is plenty of space for children to play. The heated swimming pool is on the static site it has just been repaired and will be open for Whitsun Weekend. Before we left we have booked a pitch for Whitsun weekend

We stayed here for 4 nights and I can't fault this site. The facilities were basic but adequate, although there was sometimes a queue for the single washing up sink and a laundry room would be useful for longer stays. The pool was much enjoyed by my two sons and their 3 cousins when they came to visit. The proprietor was friendly and helpful but not advised to cross him.
The clubhouse near the pool was nice and had an excellent live band while we were there, however, sadly the advertised breakfast service was only available on weekends.
A small shop on site selling the basics would make it perfect, however there is adequate shopping just down the road and a big Tesco in Sheerness.
My only niggle and worth warning others about is that although it is the site owner's prerogative to not supply toilet paper due to excessive theft (allegedly), I would have appreciated being told of this on booking in rather than finding out the hard way.
In all, a very pleasant stay. Sheerness Holiday Park is nearer to my brother's house, but is very expensive. At this price, we will most definitely be coming back here next year.

We stayed for one night on a trip around north Kent, and this seemed to be the only open site on the Isle of Sheppy.
The site has about 30 pitches, many with hook-up, on a slightly sloping site.
There are only 2 showers in both the men's and women's, but only one worked in each. The cubicles were small, my clothes got wet and I struggled to dress (I'm not big) - in the end I got dressed outside the cubicle, right next to the urinals (my partner had the same difficulty in the ladies). Outside the toilets there is only one washing-up sink. There was plenty of hot water.
Even if all the showers were working, I'd say the facilities were inadequate for the number of pitches.
The cost of a pitch was higher than other much better sites we stayed at on this trip.
I note that other people rated the pool etc, and perhaps that is the reason for the higher costs.
But as tourers, would we go back. No.

My wife and I are trying to emulate the BBC Coast programme by driving round the UK coastline.
This was the first site on our travels and the only one we booked in advance. The Warden was friendly and welcoming, even lending us a ladder to check our roof-mounted boiler flue after a local builder's lorry forced us into trees as we approached the site!
Plough site is mainly set aside to statics but the touring field is a fair size and is both bordered and divided by trees and bushes. Toilet/shower/washing facilities are basic but clean and maintained.
Excellent site for the 'one-nighter'!

A pleasant, traditional, simple yet comfortable site. Ablution facilities basic, and not luxurious, but perfectly adequate and clean - we were there for Aug bank holiday weekend, and they were cleaned about four times a day.
The touring area is completely separate from the statics, which is nice. Site is fairly level and grassed. There is a nice play area for the kids, with a climbing frame, swings, slide and roundabout, a small football pitch and large open playing field. The site is surrounded by trees. It is a good idea to pitch on the north or west side if possible - if you are on the south edge as we were, you will be in shade all the time - not a huge issue, but we do prefer sun.
We found wardens Dennis and his wife to be friendly and helpful (he even boiled his kettle to help me fit the pipe on my new gas regulator) He does however have a low tolerance for noisy, selfish, inconsiderate campers and people who bring extra cars/tents/people without informing him up front, which is fair enough.
The swimming pool (in the static section)is heated, and again, basic but sparkling blue, clean and adequate.
No on-site shop, there is a Londis & Co-op in Minster (about 5 min drive) and a large 24Hr Tesco in Sheerness (about 10 mins)
Sheerness / Sheppey itself is a contradiction, with upmarket new housing developments next-door to areas that look very run-down and shabby (you go through one of these areas to get to the park). The island is a constant contradiction of bleakness and beauty, newness and dilapidation.
We couldn't find a real sandy beach anywhere, but the pebbled beach in Sheerness is pretty and worth a visit - no real swimming though, as it was ankle deep for almost 1 mile out (Thames estuary).
Worth a visit is the Old House at Home pub in Queenborough - good food, reasonably priced and a very friendly 'Guvna', good real beer and fun atmosphere - kid friendly too.
This campsite in Dorset would be a winner.
Would we go back to the campsite? Definitely without hesitation.
Would we go back to Sheppey? Definitely, maybe.
