Absolutely fantastic! We have returned to this site time and time again because this site is a real hidden gem in North Yorkshire,
great setting for a base to tour York, Harrogate, Leeds etc all within easy reach, the east coast is only 1 1/2 hrs away.
The site offers good facilities - showers, toilets etc, even a family shower -50p for 20 mins.
Great bar on site open Fri, Sat and Sun on BH's. Pauline and Richard make you feel at home nothing is too much trouble, great site - one not to be overlooked.

Just spent a wonderful weekend at this site. The toilets, showers & washing up facilities were immaculate. The site itself very clean .Within 10minute drive to Tadcaster with all its facilities. Garage & PO in village which sell the essentials which is good if you forgot the milk like we did. Richard & Pauline very friendly & welcoming. There is a bar on site open weekends only which has a good pint & lovely welcoming atmosphere. Will definitely be back

Stayed at this site for the third time. Always a great welcome from the owners. Nice flat pitches, well cut grass. Lots of regulars at weekends it seems. Nice bar Fri/Sat and Bank Holiday Sundays. Pie'N'Peas on a Saturday night are a must. Nice area for walking, very flat, but keep an eye and an ear out for the motorcyclists at weekends, can get a bit hairy on some lanes. Try and have Sunday lunch at the Ryther Arms at Ryther, sublime. All in all a very relaxing and welcoming site. Going back in April and probably a couple of times later in the year'

Visited whitecote caravan park for a trial run with our new tent, the owners were fantastic giving us a very warm welcome, the price was ok £16 with electric hook up and 16 amps too, the only down side was that we arrived on Thursday and although the first night was great, Friday came and two tents turned up, two families along with kids, although we love kids they were just allowed to run riot around the camp, we went into the bar that night and it was again great being served Pie and Peas supper, then off to bed, we were woke at 6 am with the same kids running around, in addition parents shouting 'cocoa pops anyone', surely they should have thought of others around the camp, this went on until they left site at about 10am, saturday night into bar again it was nice as the owners were really friendly a few beers later back to bed, 3am in the morning the same two families decided to blow up some airbeds and to add to the noise had a loud conversation, that was until we shouted that they had woke us up, it went quiet then, that is it did until 6am again sunday morning, kids and parents! These people just didn't care about others around them and at about 8am a man had to come out of his caravan and ask them to be quiet as he and his family were still in bed, we couldn't get anymore sleep they were just too noisy so we got up, packed up and was home for 10am, Chrissy my better half went to bed that afternoon she was so tired and didn't get up till monday morning, that's how little sleep we got, but yes we will return I'm sure as the site itself is lovely, good facilities and lovely owners I just hope we don't choose another time with the noisy lot.

We phoned this site on the off chance, and managed to book three nights. On arrival we where shown to our pitch, which was made of slabs laid on the grass which is not to good for a motorhome, they tip up as you drive over them, but once on where fairly level. A lovely warm greeting from the owners.
The site was just a short walk from the village, which had a shop and a pub. Pub did food, we did not try it. You can catch a train from here to York, about £4 return.
The site looked like new electrics had recently been installed. The site seemed to be mostly taken by seasonal tourers, but still had loads of room for tourers.
The washrooms where ok, would not say spotless, and the showers would benefit from a mop to use before using. There is a small bar on site, which offers a beer garden, tv and some food on fridays (pie and peas) all very nice too. Out of opening hours within reason you can get a drink.
On the whole a nice site but can get very busy with a lot of children at weekends

We've just returned from another relaxing break at this site, we first visited here in 2007 and I can only repeat what we said in our first review and what has already been said here since [by others]
The toilets & showers are spotless, the grass is superb, the owners are friendly and the surrounding countryside is lovely.
One of the best small & friendly sites we've ever stayed on. We'll definitely be returning again.

Myself and my wife have just spent 3 nights at this gem of a site. The site itself is compact but does not feel cramped. The grass is cut short the pitches are level and more than adequate in size (we pitched an 8x4 meter tunnel tent with room to spare ).
The facilities are first class, spotlessly clean, showers are 20p nice and hot and lasted longer than I would normally expect.
There is a bar on site which was very warm and welcoming and very good value at £5.Oo for a pint of very well kept John Smiths Bitter and Fosters lager. They also do a pie and pea supper on Fridays. Fantatic at only £1.25 a portion.
The site is well situated with Tadcaster just 5 min drive and York, Selby on the doorstep. Many Other attractions are within reasonable driving distance.
The hosts were very friendly and you got the impression that nothing would be too much trouble for them.
We will certainly be visiting this site again in the near future.

Firstly - we enjoyed our visit to this campsite so much that we have booked it again for next year!
Our holiday didn't really get off to a very good start. We arrived at the campsite at 3:30pm on a Sunday afternoon (after a six hour journey). After taking out the tent and laying out all the parts (in strong winds), we were surprised to find a pole missing and one broken. Oops!
We swallowed our pride and decided to pay a visit to the campsite owners to see if they could help out at all. We were extremely fortunate as they had a static caravan that we could use overnight at a very fair rate.
After only 5 or 10 minutes of being in the caravan we all came to the conclusion that we'd actually like to stay in the caravan the whole week.
Off we went to bother the campsite owners for the 3rd time that hour. And much to our delight the caravan was available for that week!
The caravan was nicely furbished, clean and had everything we needed (and more.Considering we had intended to camp in a tent)! The caravan has decking on one side that overlooks the surrounding fields. There is also plenty of parking (we had two cars).
The toilet/shower facilities for camping were clean, tidy and appeared in good order although I only used them on our arrival.
The campsite owners were charming, friendly and extremely accommodating. When we enquired as to the whereabouts of a camping shop (to replace the lost/broken poles) they provided us with clear written directions to the shop. Nothing was too much trouble for them.
The campsite is in a lovely rural location but is only a 15 - 20 minute drive from York. Tadcaster is 5 minute drive away and has a supermarket, pubs, takeaways (and it also seemed to have a few breweries)!
On the Saturday there was a few noisy families that arrived on the site. But you can get noisy families on any campsite!

Whilst I'm fairly new to camping I can't see how sites can get much better than this.
Really friendly hosts, an on site excellent value 'pub' Friday and Saturday nights, only £14 a night inclusive of electric and an excellent location for Harrogate, York, Ripon and the attractive village of Tadcaster on the door step.
My children quickly found other children to play with, but given the compactness of the site it wasn't over run with children.
Pitches were of a good size and overall the site was 'loved' by the owners.
I'd highly recommend this site.
The on site static caravan for hire was also excellent value I noticed at just £200 a week.

Just had a wonderful weekend at this site, at only £14 per night for 2adults & 2 children with hook up, I thought it was really good value for money.
Facilities:-
Spotless ladies & gents toilets and showers, wich was 20p for a nice hot shower, and they had a family shower room for 50p.
A little park for the kiddies with a couple of swings and to top it off had its own little pub with it that opened every Friday & Saturday and at very reasonable drinks prices.
Situated:-
Only 4 miles from Tadcaster and further few more miles will bring you into York. Only 15 mins away from the M1 north turn off at junction 47.
Hosts:- Very helpful and friendly and nothing seemed too much trouble.
Overall I would definitely stay here again for a peaceful weekend away.
