We have used this campsite as a stopover a couple of times because we take our dogs to the vet in Metz to do their pet passports, and it's within walking distance of the campsite. The vets tel Nr is +33 3 87 55 10 22 and it cost 52 euros to do both dogs. The vet speaks good English too! Back to the campsite, it is located on the banks of the Moselle but unfortunately the dogs could not go in the river. Most of the pitches are open and on grass but there are some on a concrete area near the showers. There is free wifi but you have to use it near the Reception. We didn't use any of the facilities so cannot comment on them. It is about a 15 min walk into Metz, which is a very nice town with lots of shops and eateries. Cost per night for two adults, 2 dogs and a motorhome with electric was around 25 euros. It is a nice, clean campsite and we would definitely use it again.
Our only gripe was the unhelpful man who was on Reception when we arrived. He gave us a pitch which was the furthest away from the entrance and it was impossible to get a satellite reception, despite me asking for a pitch which might have given us satellite reception. I realise a signal isn't guaranteed, but when I approached him to ask him if we could try another pitch, he flatly refused. There were over 20 pitches still vacant on the site and it wouldn't have cost him anything to accommodate us.
There is no club house being a Municiple campsite and no child's play area.

Great site for an overnight stop or longer. Large pitches, very reasonable price, (for 3 adults - 24. 70 euros per night) was on mains water and drainage.
Only stayed for one night so didn’t explore the area, but you can walk into town from the site. Small shop and restaurant available.
Barrier for security. Site right by the river with lots of fishing taking place on the site. Wil go back again for longer if in the area.

What a lovely site, staff speak good English if needed, toilets and showers looked good but we used our own facilities.
Nice 5 minute walk into the town with plenty of coffee shops and restaurants with outside seating.
We stayed for 7 nights but the site is busy with one nighters.
Lovely view of the river from 80% of pitches, most are fully serviced.
The shop sells basics plus fresh bread and croissants from 7. 30.
We were lucky to pick up the astra satellite between the tree's so my wife was happy. All in all a very clean site, waste bins emptied daily and roads cleaned often.
One word of warning though, getting to the site is easy if you know how, we ended up in the centre of Metz which didn't amuse the locals but were escorted in by a kind gent on a moped, through one of the many new bus lanes.
So if approaching from over the bridge, as you pass the site on your left, the road bends to the right, take an immediate left and go straight into the site, beware of busses from the right though.
The sad bit about this site is that we heard from the staff that they plan to build flats on it. Great shame as I would of loved to have returned

This was a lovely clean site located on the river bank. It was a five minute walk into the centre of Metz.
There was a small shop which served breakfast and fresh bread each morning. It was a well run site. There were water taps by most pitches and information stands with lots of local information and maps of the city. We only stayed one night but would have happily stayed longer.
There are no facilities for children but it is city centre site so we were not expecting any.

Great site with all I needed as a solo motorcyclist
Riverside pitch hot showers all fine, the on site snackbar I tried not so good steak chips salad 13 euros
I don't call 3 lettuce leaves a salad
Lots of 1 nighters with the usual coming and going reception staff great fun just try and speak French. remember you pay when you leave the site but no queue when I left, however the entrance is either 1 in or 1 out, some caravanners seemed frustrated with this having to give way
Metz itself I found a large building site roads paths dwellings all being either demolished or rebuilt
The workers seemed to be on holiday not much happening
You pass some seedy areas to get to the pleasant bit
Site security excellent and I will return

We used this site as a stopover for a couple of days and found it to be excellent! Locating it is a touch tricky at the moment (sept 2012) as they are doing some very major roadworks all around but it is well worth the effort.
It sits bordered along one side by the Moselle river and by the municipal swimming baths and sports complex on the other. Despite being in the city centre it really isn't at all noisy!
It is a 5 minute walk into the town which is really lovely. A bit like a French Venice! Lots of canals and waterways. There are a lot of public gardens and it really is a lovely place to visit - so much more than just a stopover.
Our only gripe was that the showers were pretty cold when we visited (and again 3 weeks later on the way home). Weird considering that the water in the dish washing sinks was hot enough to make a tea with! Next time I think we will take a couple of camping showers and fill them with hot water.

Great site in the centre of this brilliant city! Visited here Aug 2011 based of previous review’s we had read on UKcampsite.co.uk
It’s approx 5-10 mins walk from the centre of the city. Massive Cathedral in the centre of the city & market on Saturday morning. Reasonable fees, good clean toilet & shower block. Good facilities to empty porter loo and foul water from sink and refill water etc if you are a camper van / caravan. A lovely site at the side of the river, we will definitely return! We just hope it’s not raining next time!

We used it as a stopover on the way back to Zeebrugge. Things we liked - central location, decent loos and showers, useful take-away and shop, riverside location, reasonable fees. Things we disliked - some very sloping pitches, there was a noisy group of motorhomers near us, no specific child facilities. There is a big municipal swimming baths next door.
The historic city centre is a 10 minute walk way, and it is just amazing! Fantastic cathedral, indoor market, squares etc - we were really surprised as we had no idea!
It will go on our list of 'Use Again' sites.

A really nice camp site. We tented in September so had the usual condensation problems associated with camping by a river at this time of year in this part of the world. The mature trees around the site prevented the sun getting in to dry the tent off before we left but still:
We wouldn't hesitate staying here again.
The on-site cafe/bar was open from 7 am until 9 pm. The Reception closed at 10 pm but there was someone on duty 24/7 apparently. (We didn't check this out).
There were tables and chairs, clothes lines & barbecue stuff. Water points and rubbish disposal bins were numerous. A really nice site.

Right in the centre of the city, but still a fairly peaceful site, and tent section are pleasantly situated on edge of river bank (duck/duckling, geese all very tame etc) - caravans/campers further back.
Mainly used by the Dutch as a break in going south / north - very much a transitory site. Used it a couple of times to break journey to Switzerland/North Italy.
Only thing I didn't like was the fairly small number of toilets and wash basins for the large number of people - no problems with showers - more of them than toilets. Good one night stop but if your female at busy times you may queue for the toilets.
