We have recently returned from this site, and felt compelled to write a short review.
I can only agree with most of the comments that were presented last year and before (i.E beautiful surroundings, well kept pitches, good facilities etc). The staff were exceptionally helpful and even offered to arrange excursions for us. The site was very relaxed, and unlike many others we felt our young family could stroll around without too many cars and people to worry about. Fairly good play area but unsafe for very small children without supervision.
The on site restaurant certainly looked the part (very rustic typical French feel) but the food was pretty awful and very expensive. My daughters meal was barely heated up, and as chicken, felt a bit nervous after that. No excuse really as the place was empty. Shame really as we would have gone back again if half-decent.
The site had a good launderette and utility areas. Sadly the showers were a bit grim and were only just warm. Had they had provided hot showers I think they could have been forgiven!
All in all one of the best sites I have stayed at in a while and will go back again. Plenty to see within an hour of the site and great if you are into cycling and walking as many of our fellow campers were. Site quite at night apart from regular shootings of rabbits, I hope. Still it is surrounded by lovely farms so I guess you have to expect a bit of that.
Pleasant stay and would highly recommend.

Thanks to the first reviewer for giving directions - they were really helpful.
We stopped here for one night on the way down and one night on the way back from the Dordogne, as it's only an hour and a half's drive from Eurotunnel, and not far from the motorway.
We had booked in advance, which was just as well on the way back (mid-week mid-August) as I heard the owner tell someone else the site was full.
The swimming pool was excellent - covered, warm (29 degrees) and big enough to actually swim. It closes at 7 in the evening, and on the rainy day on our journey home we were almost the only people in it. It also has changing rooms and lockers, so you don't need to walk across the campsite in your wet swimming things.
We were in the touring section across the road from the main site, where the toilets and showers were great. They're all 'individual cubicles' and very clean. The volleyball court (and tiny football pitch) were behind our tent and our boys were the only ones using them.
On arrival everyone is given a free drink ticket for the bar, for coffee, wine or a soft drink for kids. Very small glass of wine, but very nice. And a roaring log fire, on the wet and windy day. Fab!
Loads to do, but also really quiet.

We used this site as an overnight stop en-route to Calais. It is about 1 and a half hours drive from the ferry port so was perfect for us (having just drive from the other side of Normandy. Very friendly staff. Lovely wee piano bar and located in a nice country setting. Can't comment on the facilities really as arrived late and left early but they looked fine to me, and can't comment on the area for the same reasons. I would certainly use it again though for an overnight stop.

Just back from 6 nights on this site. Didn't arrive til midnight after ferry mix up and getting lost in France (cue Bonny Tyler!) in the dark. Site is quite isolated so you have to travel for most things but there's plenty on site, heated pool which kids loved, ping pong, archery, internet access, sandy playground, bar and cafe.
We were on the touring part of the site which also had beach volley ball and a basketball net.
Mixture of English, French, Dutch and Belgian whilst we were there. Decent sized pitch with hedge around it so quite private although not all were as clearly separated. One downside was farmers shooting in early hours before it was light, fluorescent rabbits?!
Owners friendly and helpful, also activities on most days, salsa, yoga, archery, T shirt customising.
Nearest supermarkets in Rue which wasn't too far away, you can order baguettes from reception for the following day.
Fort Mahon and Quend plage are good beaches but the tide can come in very fast. Belle Dune Aqua Club near Quend is a good swimming pool for children, with waterslides etc. Could spend a day there easily as there's an eco-village too to explore.
Very rural and flat, good cycling country although we didn't take ours, would probably go again.

We are a family of four (sons aged 6 and 4) and highly recommend this site. We stayed 11 nights and agree with comments in the review above. It is a very well run site with friendly, competent and caring staff. There are lots of activities (e.G. heated swimming pool, kids playground, beach volley, boules, ping pong and archery) that are free. Free internet access, too. Good mix of French, Brits and Dutch. Showers clean and good temp/power. O nsite restaurant atmospheric with wood fire and live music.
We stayed on the 'main' part of the site: Our emplacement had water, electricity and also a waste water drainage point which was useful.
Downside? Mixed toilet block a bit smelly (!) and bare patches on pitches, but you can’t expect the grass to survive everything. The nearest shops/supermarkets are in Rue, by the way. Fort Mahon has fantastic beach. Yep, this is a great site. Don’t just go for an overnight stop!

To Find Site:- Leave A16 at junction 25 and follow directions for Arras. Turn right onto N1 (now D901) towards Wailly-Beaucamp. Continue to Namport St Firmin/Namport St Martin. Once almost through Namport St Martin watch out for sign to right for campsite. As you enter Fresne the campsite is on the right in about 200 metres.
Camping Le Ferme des Aulnes is a pleasant campsite situated in a countryside setting. It consists of two pitching areas. The larger one is immediately behind the reception and consists of some touring pitches but mainly well kept static vans. A second area across the road from reception is smaller but only contains touring pitches. All pitches are of a good size and delineated by hedges. Some have a gravel stripe for the caravan or motorhome but, of course, on the continental side. Whilst delineated pitches can give you a degree of privacy it does also mean that it is more likely that the grass will become damaged by the use of groundsheets. During our visit at the end of August virtually all pitches were damaged in this way so if it is wet there will be muddy areas. The original part of the site contains all the facilities including a restaurant, gym, children's entertainment area which have been incorporated into the old farm buildings. In the middle is a covered swimming pool which seemed very popular with both adults and children. The reception building also has a small shop with essentials for sale and bread can be ordered the day before. All the toilets/shower are of a good standard but they are unisex which some might not favour. However there are some private cubicles on both parts of the site. Toilet emptying facilities are also available on the two pitching areas.
The site has lots of facilities geared towards the entertainment of youngster however I expect the lure of the coast in the Somme Bay area will also have its attractions. For shopping there is a large Carrefour at Berck and numerous other smaller supermarkets in the area which reception will gladly direct you to.
