A very nice site, and well worth the very long drive. Plenty to do, and considering the size of the site, toilets were always very very clean, perfect for access to beach, 600m from site across a road, (although site map does indicate that beach is at end of some of the pitches.
You are able to purchase freshly cooked chicken, fresh fruit and veg, for such a very reasonable price, without mentioning the cheap wine you are able to purchase also from the site, no reason to leave site for groceries, v reasonably priced
A few downsides
1. Some pitches are not very accessible for a caravan, and a lot have trees in middle of the pitch, but otherwise, lovely site and would return. You are also amongst mobile homes, and hired tents, but most pitches are segregated by trees.
2. We arrived very late at the site, and although we were greeted by a non english speaking security guard. We were not guided to our pitches, which was a very daunting experience late at night and in the dark.
3. Males are not allowed to wear shorts (bemuda type) they have to wear speedos to be allowed in pool,
4. And last but not least, if have young teenagers I am talking 15 years of age, etc, they are served alcohol quite freely at the bar, and appear to have no limit on it, (speaking from experience) so beware.

As previously mentioned this is a very big, very busy seaside site. The size of the pitches does vary but most seemed to be of a reasonable size, I had given the size of our caravan when we booked and our pitch was fine. As you would expect, taking into account the weather and location the pitches are very dry and dusty but most seemed to have some shade which was very welcome.
The pool was great (children aged 14,12 & 8) really enjoyed it but it was very busy and we never did manage to get a sun lounger! There are life guards around all the time and they seem very keen to ensure that everyone is safe without spoiling anyones fun. The shops were good and offered a good range of food - if you felt really lazy you could probably do your shopping for the holiday without leaving the site. We had taken our bikes but were disappointed to find we could not access a cycle track for several miles and we felt the roads were too busy for a relaxing ride.
The showers were clean but as expected on such a busy site you had to get the timing right to avoid the queues and get a hot shower. The local town is within walking distance and offers a good variety of places to eat. The adventure park which is next to the site (sort of Go Ape type thing with zip wires etc) was excellent and we thought very good value for money. The beach was a 5minute walk from our pitch and was clean and pretty but again busy.
We felt the site would appeal to families with children of all ages but it is busy and noisy and the pitches that back onto the roads are noisy all day.

We have just returned from 11 days at this site. The weather as you would expect in this area was excellent. The site is on the large side with some areas quieter than others. The staff at reception were friendly and spoke good English. There are many shower and toilet blocks which are cleaned twice a day. Despite our visit being in the height of the season we didn't have to queue for showers although the water tended to be cool after 7 o'clock.
The on site bakery is open early morning and again late in the evening selling freshly baked bread and cakes. The Supermarket is well stocked for essentials with reasonable prices. There is also a shop selling wine from the vineyards next door at extremely good prices. You can even take a plastic bottle and they will fill it with a wine of your choice for just a few euros. The restaurant is a little expensive but there is a snack bar selling pizzas and chips to eat in or take away.
The pool complex is quite impressive with water slides. There is an excellent children's pool with novelty showers and slides. The lazy river can get a little crowded and runs quite slowly. There are plenty of life guards on duty throughout the complex.
There is plenty of entertainment and sports facilities. Younger children have there own playground which is well equipped. A fairly large arcade keeps older children occupied along with crazy golf, trampolines and bungee ropes (6Euros)
Security on site is excellent a barrier system is in operation along with security guards at the main entrance and also at the gate leading to the beach.(10 mins walk)
The surrounding area has plenty to offer Valras is 45 minutes walk or a short ride via the road train which runs throught the day until 11pm
There are many shops restaurants and bars in the resort. The local markets are well worth a visit and take place several times a week.
There is a Lidl and Hyper you supermarket 10 minutes drive from the site with a carrefour 15 minutes away.
The beaches in the area are clean with golden sand the sea is safe for bathing with lifeguards on patrol. There are a few beach bars selling drinks and ice creams.
Further afield is the town of Carcasconne which is well worth a visit. Cap d'age is around 30 mins drive although traffic getting into the resort is bad.
Although there were a few English on this site in the main it was French and Dutch.
Overall we enjoyed this site and would say it is worth the long drive.

We have just returned from 3 weeks at this site. We enjoyed it very much, a large bustling site and as stated in previous reviews pitches are set around toilet blocks, the blocks are mixed and were cleaned everyday at least twice, but there is a high volume of people who use the blocks and I did queue on occasions for both toilets and showers. Water for washing up was never hot, unless you were there at around 3.00 pm when everyone was either at the beach or at the pool.
Excellent pool facilities, my two teenage kids loved it but the pools for younger children were really fantastic, great play area, mini disco on an evening until 8.30 then entertainment each night until 11.30 pm, the usual karaoke, band, disco etc, not the best but we usually only stayed for half an hour. Good eating facilities, quite good priced set menu, around 13 euros for a basic 3 course, the drinks were expensive though
Great bakery on site and small Casino type supermarket with a great little butchers inside, lovely kebabs etc for your BBQ. Take away, gift boutique, fish man set up every night with mussels etc on his stall but most importantly the wine shop, as in previous reviews great wine, the cheapest one being 1.20 per litre (take your own bottle), or 6 euro per litre for the great muscat. The site has a small farm which has a few goats/chickens/cows etc, you can visit and buy vegetables etc, and its own Winery which you can visit.
Our pitch was fine for us, shaded by birch trees, we have a motor mover which did help and our van is only small, but we did see a twin axle trying to access a small plot, he gave up and requested a different space and was moved no problem, pitches varied from huge to small and are mixed up, you may have a tent, a touring caravan, a static cravan, a motorhome and then a Holiday Company Tent all pitched around each other. The pitches are also the usual dusty sand which gets everywhere, I would advise taking throws to protect your upholstery, I have spent two days with fabric shampoo trying to revive our cushions. The staff were all very friendly, great beach which is about 10 minute walk away, most had trolleys to stack everything onto to take to the beach, there is a small beach bar where you can get food/drink throughout the day and evening directly on the beach, lifeguards are present.
The petit train runs from the campsite gates all day long on the hour until 11.00 pm, 3 euro per adult return, great to take you into Valras for the Market on a Mon & Friday and on an evening so you can stroll around Valras town which is a small bustling town with lovely bistros and gift shops.
As mentioned previously extremely popular with the Dutch, we were in the minority as British.
The site is huge and if you do visit take torches, I have never been on a site so dark and badly lit, my OH got lost on the way back from the shop one evening and another night we were sat having a drink a group of people (who happend to be Scottish) had been wandering for about an hour and couldn't find their way back to their caravans, they were so pleased we were English and could help them in the right direction. Even going to the toilet block can get people lost (our neighbour took a detour on his first trip out). Trip on the Canal du Midi is worth a run, we did the 2.00 pm - 6.30 pm from Cap D'Agde (a lovely little port which is well worth a visit). Overall would recommend, we booked through the CC and got a better rate as it is quite expensive.

OK first the good points. Easy to find not far from Junction 36 A9. Evening entertainment was better than some places we have been too and the area in which this takes place is very clean and tidy. We have older children (17/15) but daytime entertainment for younger children appeared quite good. Local beach half a mile or so walk was lovely and had a good beach bar cum cafe on it. There are lots of places to go within an hour or so. We tried canoeing at St Guilhern de Desert and thoroughly enjoyed it.
On our arrival we waited for half an hour to be spoken to, and this was in a relatively short queue of not more than 6 couples, and when we were the welcome was cold if not rude. The site is divided into areas which are not well signposted (the pitches even less so)and if, like us, you miss you pitch you have to negotiate narrow paths some of which had sharp turns. On a few occasions we needed to ask people to move their cars to allow us to turn a corner. (We don't have an enormous van just an Auvergne). Our allocated pitch was no better than a piece of East London wasteland, with hardly a blade of grass in sight it was a mix of dust and weeds of various height, additionally there were two trees that made access difficult and it impossible to erect our annexe. Six feet to the rear of us was an electric substation which hummed 24/7 and 10 metres away were a dozen or more waste bins, bottle banks, a foul smelling water pumping station and the dog fouling area. When we asked to move we were told that to move was “Not possible”. When we asked to speak to the manager we were told he was in a meeting and it would be 3 or 4 hours before this could happen. Other pitches we looked at were no better in terms of quality though they didn't have all the other unwanted accessories that we had. Eating outside was virtually impossible due to the dust being blown around. The pool area was always overcrowded and didn't appear too clean. The 'hot' water rarely ran more than luke warm and the queues for both showers and washing up were long ! simply not enough amenities for such a large site. Valras Plage itself is full of slow moving traffic especially at night when it would grind to a standstill. We did find a very nice restaurant but otherwise it was full of take aways and funfairs. It reminded me of a cross between Southend and Blackpool.
Sorry this is an honest opinion, we obviously didn't visit every pitch on the site but we did have a good look around and it just wasn't worth travelling so far too.

This is a lovely, feelgood campsite. It's large and there are plenty of facilities in the "village" (shops, entertainment, restaurants / swimming pool with newly added water slides) and for kids, a mini disco every night, activities club (if you like that sort of thing) trampolines, little fairground rides and a mini train that takes you to Valras Plage. This is great news if you have young children on whom your holiday happiness completely depends! And yet, although there 1,000 pitches, it still feels like a campsite, not a resort for people who don't like camping, with plenty of tents in evidence, mostly in shade, and people who own statics who go for the whole summer. The toilets/showers are spotless, there is plenty of peace and quiet away from the main centre and two good play areas that your kids will safely and happily be drawn to. We stayed there for two years running, booking through the site the second time in a static. The advantage with this is that you get 2 weeks for one the following year (end of august). The spotless and spacious beach is about half a km down a path or you can go Valras which is very pleasant too. A definite go-er!

6 nights in July This site is huge, but has excellent facilities - four pools, play areas restaurants, bars, take aways, shops etc. Everything was kept clean, shops well-stocked, and what we ate was good quality although that was reflected in the price The touring pitches were all well defined with power water and waste close by. Most looked like motorised movers would be a great help in making the best of the space. Not having this, we still set up fine. All pitches seemed to be level and well-kept. Pitches are arranged round toilet/shower blocks - being close to one of these could be a pain as close = close. These facilities were very busy and the staff battled to keep them clean (we never blame the site if they try hard - users are often less clean than they could be). The site is some way from the centre of Valras Plage, but every inch is filled with more sites, amusements, take aways disco's etc. You need to be aware Valras is geared up for late night stuff (as are many places on the Med) - even the Dotto Train runs till after midnight and announces itself at every stop. Peace and quiet is not on offer. This site is not for early bed/early risers. And it gets hot. However, a five minute walk puts you on the Mediterranean beach, and Valras Town has lots to offer. It's quite compact, but the wider area has the feeling of a Blackpool/Scunthorpe albeit with serious sunshine. The authorities clearly spend a lot of effort keeping the area clean; like many places in France they advertise their cctv and police are well-present. When we arrived at the site their electricity sub-station had caught on fire (oops) but they had a huge generator on site in a few hours and started replacement work next day. They were still at it when we left; but we certainly weren't inconvenienced. The site was patrolled at all times by staff dressed in "Security" outfits and the barrier security was good. The site pretty much shut down between 11 and 7 but the rest of Valras doesn't. If you're looking for sun, fun and a fast-paced holiday, Valras is one option, and this site fitted in very well. You can easily tour from here to places such as Carcassonne, Narbonne, Montpelier even, but if you are into sightseeing you probably would go to a different site - probably in a different area. Domaine de la Yole is clearly much-loved by the Dutch, Germans and French. It's at the far end of most British two-week tourers range and we were the only Scots we bumped into. Of the six sites booked through the Caravan Club this year, this was by far the most expensive. Valras also offered the most stable, warmest and sunniest weather of our trip.
