An excellent site, although it is large it doesn't feel overcrowded at all. All nationalities represented, everyone mixed in, which was good.
When we arrived we were shown to our pitches which were in a cul-de-sac which meant that there was no passing traffic, however it wasn't quiet! We seemed to have arrived on a Spanish bank holiday week-end. Lots of large groups of Spanish people all coming and going to each others tents or caravan. When they all went home it did become a lot calmer!
I agree with all the other comment regarding the toilets which were spotless always.
The supermarket had everything you could want making frequent trips to other supermarkets (which were near) unnecessary.
The restaurant was good, we ate there several times, also at the restaurant across the road which was also good.
Very flat in and around the site, made bike riding very easy!
We visited Roses and went on the Roses Express taking the mountain route. It was surprising how cold it was on top of the mountain compared to the coast. If you go take a cardigan or jacket.
We did go to the beach a few times but it was always windy and the sand blew about a lot making sun bathing difficult. Good for all the wind surfers though!
The only negative thing was at reception, on busy days, you had to queue with all the people booking in (which takes a fair amount of time) when all you want is a token for the laundry, lesson learnt, get the token when it is not busy!
The Wi-Fi was good but not good enough to Skype.
Some good evening entertainment, mostly we just listened from our own pitch, but we did go to watch a couple of times.
This was our second visit which speaks for itself as we rarely visit the same place twice!

Large family site. We only had 2 nights here as we were travelling home. Large, hedged pitches, trees over our pitch gave us shade.
Excellent facilities, showers and toilets constantly being cleaned, I can imagine if you spent a fortnight here, you would get to know the cleaners very well!
No problem booking in as we hadn't booked in advance, just needed to make sure we had cash as that is all they take.
Definitely deserves its rating of First Class!

This is a very large site, well laid-out on a grid plan and well-organised. Pitches vary slightly in size and shape but all are grassy, level, divided by hedges and of generous proportions - and some are positively huge.
Reception staff are multi-lingual, very friendly and helpful. On sale in reception are postcards, maps and English newspapers, and there is a book exchange.
As other reviewers have said the cleaners are ever-present in the well-equipped toilet blocks. While this is a good thing, I did feel that there were times when a little privacy would have been welcome!
There is ample hot water for the washing-up and laundry sinks and a large laundry room with washing machines, dryers and irons. The machines are among the most expensive I have come across, at 5. 50 euros, and dryers are 4. 50, but irons are free.
I can’t comment on the swimming pools or entertainment as they weren’t available in low season, but the café, restaurant and ice-cream bar were very good, as was the supermarket. There is wifi throughout, for a charge.
There is direct access to a large beach which is rather breezy and hence very popular with kite-surfers. As the area is subject to occasional strong winds, a regular camper gave us good advice – always pitch your awning facing south. He had witnessed a number of awnings damaged if not facing south. We also found that the pitches got very muddy after rain, though this would presumably not be a problem in July/August.
The surrounding area is very flat and bike-friendly, and bikes of all sizes are available for hire on the site. The nearest supermarket of any size, other than the campsite’s own, is on the outskirts of Roses, which is a delightful seaside resort with lots of amenities. About 5 km to the south, the pretty little village of Sant Marti has a lovely beach and some excellent restaurants.
We can also comment on the bungalows and mobile homes for rent at L’Amfora, because while we were there with our caravan, our son, his girlfriend, and our daughter flew out to join us for a week, and we needed to book some accommodation for them. The staff kindly let us have a look in the various options. The bungalows were very nice and would be ideal in hot weather, but because in April it was still quite unsettled we decided a mobile home would provide more spacious indoor accommodation. Like the bungalows, the mobile homes were very clean and smart and well-equipped with everything you could possibly need, even washing-up liquid, dish cloth and tea towel! They had heaters for cooler weather, 2 big fans for hot weather, TV with English stations, microwave, electric kettle, toaster and coffee machine.
Although much bigger than the sort of sites we usually prefer, the facilities at L’Amfora were first-class and it would be an excellent site for families with children of all ages.
I have rated this highly for value for money, as we used camping cheques (15 euros a night).

Just returned from a wonderful 2 weeks at Camping Amfora. This is a very large, but well run campsite which is perfect for families. We had a 100m2 shady pitch (essential in the 30 degree heat of August) which gave us room for our 7. 5 x 5m tent plus outside space. The pitches are in rows, separated by hedging, so fairly private. As Brits, were very much in the minority, which we didn't really mind. Lots of Dutch, German and Spanish, but surprisingly few French people, considering how close it is to the border. There is a very strict speed limit on the site, which makes it very safe for the kids to ride about on bikes.
Having driven for a total of 14 hours over 2 days (it is a long drive, but very scenic), we accepted a pitch just outside one of the main toilet blocks, which on reflection, was probably a mistake as you do get some extra noise here, but it was also very convenient for the kids. On the subject of the facilities, these were without doubt the best I have ever seen in my years of camping. Well appointed, plenty of them (never had to queue for anything) and incredibly clean - in fact as soon as you step out of a shower, there is someone waiting there to clean it for the next person ! Plenty of washing up and even laundry sinks too.
The facilities were very good - 4 very clean pools (temperature fine for summer, but if they are not heated in cooler months, would be rather refreshing !). Usually managed to find a sun bed whatever the time of day too. The beach is also just 5 minutes away and it is a lovely beach. Very safe, gently sloping into the sea, no sea weed and very clean. Would particularly recommend an early evening swim when the water temp is almost like a bath !
We didn't try the restaurant itself but it always looked busy. The one just across from the main reception outside was very good though. The takeaway was useful after a long day and I can recommend the Rotisserie Chicken ! There was entertainment every night (some nights better than others) whilst we were there, which we could probably have done without, as it was very loud and generally didn't finish till midnight, but this might suit others. The mini disco for the younger ones always seemed very popular. Our kids are older, so we didn't sample this or any other kids clubs, facilities etc. , but they all looked really good.
The supermarket is great - very well stocked and reasonably priced. Nice not to have to leave the site for our shopping, but there are several larger supermarkets nearby - there's even a Lidl in L'Escala. We took our electric coolbox with us, but it did struggle to cool everything in the extreme heat, so we ended up hiring a fridge from a local firm which most people seem to do and that did the job nicely - leaflets for that available in the Reception.
Lots to do round and about - Aqua Brava Water Park is a bit expensive, but the kids loved it. Good idea to get your tickets from the Campsite Reception if you want to avoid queuing on the day. The nearest town is Sant Pere Pescador, which is nice for a stroll, but not much there - and I would avoid the main restaurant there on the one way route - very expensive and not particularly good food. L'Escala is worth a visit, as is L'Estartit if you want a bit more of a holiday town, though both of these were much more sophisticated and 'Spanish' than most of the more popular Costa Brava resorts.
All in all, we had a wonderful holiday and when we are ready to tackle the drive again, may well go back (avoiding driving anywhere near Paris this time !)

We arrived here one day early after a disaster trying to find our previous site in Avignon, having given up and continued here.
Arriving into Spain at 2200 after an 11 hr drive, the site is located on a long straight road where lots of vanners and motor homes park up overnight and some like us having arrived early and others just to access the beach.
We arrived on site at 11:00 the majority of visitors were from Holland with few Welsh and English.
Toilet facilities are to a higher standard than the CC which is hard to beat.
The supermarket is ok and has all the basics, bakery, deli, etc, the main supermarkets are all around Roses.
Four Pizza's cost us 40 euro's, large beer 3 euro, coke (small) 1.70, ice cream 2.
A nice meal was had at the restaurant out front of the site across the road, it gets busy so book a table.
We were situated at the back of the site next to a toilet block, and boy do these duch campers like to wash dishes, from 07:00 till 23:30 its a family affair with up to 5 assisting at one time is quite noisy at 7am.
The beach bar was also good for a meal and drinks after a day on the beach which is a short stroll to.
The pool complex was good and passed the kids test which is we never saw them.
A lovely walk into the village is along the beach then through the nature reserve it is longer (50 min) than via the main road (35 min) but much nicer, all level surfaces.
The village is pretty basic, bars, restaurant, 2 butchers, bakers and a medium sized supermarket and garage. 1.015 per litre diesel.
A very relaxing 12 nights and recommended.

Stayed here for a week over the summer half term holidays. It is by far the best campsite we have ever been to!
Pitches were well sized, decent hedges but not all encompassing shade. Quite sandy. We had our 8 person Vango tunnel tent, a small tent, a gazebo and still plenty of space for the kids to play and the car!
Only half of the swimming pool complex was open during our stay but that was plenty. Small kids pool with little slide, water sprays etc. Big pool that only came up to my shoulders that was used for people to play in and then a decent sized rectangular pool kept for those wanting to swim lengths.
There are four children's play areas, some have new equipment this year and my kids (aged 4 & 6) thought they were brilliant.
We used the take-away which was reasonably priced and sells the usual fair but didn't get chance to use the Restaurant as visited a particular favourite in Girona.
The Beach was a 5 min walk from our pitch, great sand, very gently sloping sea bed. Lots of wind surfing, kite surfing and people flying kites.
There is a well stocked Supermarket with everything you could need and with prices close to those of the main supermarkets.
Kids club, laundrette and everything else you would expect.
Very quiet at night, no shrieking groups of teens or loud music.
But the most amazing thing was the toilet blocks. Absolutely spotless. Plenty of toilets, sinks and showers for everyone with hot water at all times of the day. The reviewer who said the cleaners practically live there was right.
All in all - wow - will be booking for next summer half term asap!

To Find Site:- Leave AP7 motorway at junction 3, Figueres north taking N11 bypass and then C260 signed for Roses. At Castello d'Empuries take GI 6216 signed to Sant Pere Pescador. In Sant Pere Pescador follow camping signs, some roads quite narrow. Once out of the town and over river bridge campsite is well signed. If coming from the south it might be best to avoid C31 to Sant Pere Pescador as there are major roadworks at the moment which makes identifying the correct turning more difficult.
Camping L'Amfora is a large, busy but professionally run campsite right next to a lovely sandy beach. There are in the region of about 700 pitches most of them touring. They vary is size from good to massive! Many have water connections on the pitch (but no waste) and are well shaded. Towards the beach there some pitches of about 90 sq mts which have a more open aspect and no water hook-ups. A further category of pitch has its own private toilet/shower facilities. These come in two sizes the smaller being about 90 sq mts and the larger 180 sq mts, again with good shade. Electric connections, 10 amp, of the older continental style without the male earth pin so if you find reverse polarity the plug can just be reversed in the socket. Toilet facilities are superb and are continuously cleaned by site staff. The toilets are seated, paper is provided but on individual rolls outside each cubical! The site has extensive restaurant/takeaway/bar facilities. Internet provision is by either fixed terminal or site wide WiFi which costs about €2 a day. There is a large on site supermarket with a good range of products which should reduce the need for off site shopping expeditions. The site has a lovely swimming pool complex as well as other sporting facilities and children's play equipment. The Spanish tend to eat and go to bars later rather than earlier in the evening so you should expect some noise, particularly at weekends, if on a pitch near the main road down from reception. Pitches situated further away are unlikely the be affected. Camping Cheques are accepted in the low season.
No doubt the excellent beach will be the main draw of this site however there is lots to do within a relatively short radius of the site. Figueres is not far away and if you are looking for a surreal experience visit the Salvador Dali Museum in the town. The resort of Roses is just across the bay and short drive away. Near L'Escala are the Roman ruins of Empuries which is worth a visit. There are numerous shopping opportunities in the area including large supermarkets.

This was our 4th visit to the site. The first 3 years we stayed on the on site bungalows which were excellent accommodation. In July 2009 we booked a 80m pitch with private shower and toilet facilities. The pitch was clean and well shaded and the toilet spotlessly clean.
The site itself is very clean and well run, the reception staff speak many different languages and are always pleasant and friendly. If you have any problems they will do their best to help.
The swimming pools are excellent with life guards, the only problem that we encountered was that they seemed not to be unable to calm down rough behaviour of the older teenagers and this can cause a problem if you have young children.
This year there was difficulties getting drinks from the bar especially in the evening, in fairness to the waiters they were working hard but there was not enough of them. Also it appeared the bar staff were serving alcohol to under age drinkers. The food from the takeaway was also disappointing this year, the staff did not seem to know what to charge for food and a cooked chicken we purchased was undercooked and still bloody.
Another problem we encountered this year was the noise levels, the site has a nightclub that opens until 3am and a bar just outside the site plays very loud music until 5am. When the bars closed the noise from shouting and singing still kept us awake.

Picked this campsite so as to be nearish to Barcelona and able to drive in from France. A large site with the usual cheesy entertainment, beer not bad priced nor food, ate in restaurant a couple of times, ok. The thing about this site was the fact you can get pitches with your own shower room/toilet and outside sink which meant no traipsing to the toilet block which were very clean I might add.
A short walk to the beach past a couple of bars, one of which was owned by the campsite, not bad food in there and same priced as site ! Our only gripe was the lack of public transport, as it happened we hired a car to go to Barcelona but would have preferred the bus. A small typical Spanish town lies within a 20 minute walk.Would I go back ? Probably not but this is no reflection on the site, staff friendly, pools good, internet cafe room, but just a little too much off the beaten track for us, the 'ensuite ' was great though !

We visited this site several years ago, on a four week tour of France and Spain, however I just spotted it on the website so decided to post this review.
Although the site is in a good location, indeed we had several good days out, we found it to be too large and impersonal for us, and were very disappointed on arrival to be shoved onto a pitch right at the back of the site, on an ungrassed area which I can only describe as resembling a car park/ car boot sale, in impersonal rows.
We had booked months in advance through a well known camping specialist company, so felt that this was unacceptable. The areas we drove through to get to our pitch looked much nicer, with hedges separating them and well kept.
The pitch was also noisy with people going on and off the beach late at night having been drinking, and we heard several fights, and people getting 'amorous' shall we say.
The staff were unable to move us due to the site being full, so be warned if you book for high season, although things may have improved since then. I agree with the other reviews that the facilities were very clean, but we were further away from them than I would have liked.
The shop was well stocked and reasonably priced.
The other campers in the area we were put were mostly Dutch, and despite friendly smiles from us, we found them very unfriendly, which is unusual in our experience. So it was not a campsite we felt welcome on, we felt quite uncomfortable, (we have never before come away from a site without making some friends with other campers) nor would we go back there again.
