We travelled with 2 other friends and had 3 pitches in a row nestled within Dutch families, the pitches were tight for either the 5.5m caravan, our large trailer tent or the 9 man frame tent due to the number of trees and scrubs within each pitch, that said, after a liberal pruning everything fitted.
The site location is excellent for access from the roads, but from the 'sunny' pitches we had the pleasure of goods trains frequently from 11pm until 3am every night, although we never heard any road traffic.
The site toilet/shower facilities were all new and in excellent condition, and kept clean and tidy all day.
The kids play areas were located throughout the site, so you are never far from one, and all very good in condition and variation of equipment.
The pool was a bit of a let down having seen the promotional Castel camping book and the sites web page, concrete cracked around the corners and sides of one of the outdoor pools and a build up of green slime around the indoor pool and the toilets filthy!
The shop was reasonably well stocked with wine, pate and other French camping essentials and not much more expensive than the local Super you supermarket just down the road, and the bread every morning was always fresh.
We ate at the restaurant, and if you like your meals served on plastic plates, then its great, if not then go elsewhere, (the food was good though!) and it was expensive.
Entertainment (live band (very good) kareoke)and kids clubs were provided free as well as exercise class in one of the pools (it would have helped if the kids were moved out of the pool before it started) all good fun.
A well located site, reasonable presented but let down by the pool area.

Stayed here for a week with two small children. The site is large with a great swimming complex and really lovely play areas/parks for children.
There are two types of pitches. We had a standard one and found it very small. We have a large tent but only had space on pitch for tent and car and we were less than a couple of feet from the next door tent. Felt very claustrophobic. The children all around us certainly struggled to find place to play and were often found on our pitch playing hide and seek right by our tent.
The larger and more expensive pitches were at the back of the site and seemed lovely. That area was not so densely packed with pitches and felt much more spacious and open.
There was also a non EHU area which was lovely and wooded but too close to road. I found the noise from train track behind site disturbed my sleep too.
The toilet blocks were not particularly nice, not always very clean and a bit smelly. The toilets didn't always flush properly and we had no hot water in one block for 36 hours.
The site itself was also smelly in places, drains and sewers I guess.
Considering what that site cost per night, I expected better.

This site is located on the N152 main Tours/ Orleans road so all parts of the site suffer road noise. There is also a railway line running behind the back of the site(approx 200m away but trains are not that frequent). The site is part of the Castels chain of sites which we usually love. It has a fair few site owned chalets/ mobiles as well as 20 Canvas Holidays tents/ mobiles as well as Vacansoleil/ and Rent a Tent (a dutch company). The site is split into 3 areas, the one nearest the road was an orchard, pitches are a fair size, flat but lacking a toilet block in this area (on our 1st visit in 2001 there was a block but it has since been demolished to make way for more mobiles). The second area is much more shaded in deep woods with pitches of a various size. A toilet/ shower block here was without hot water throughout our stay, a money saving ploy I think and at times there was a horrible sewage smell. The third and by far the best part of the site was at the back of the site (road noise much less of a problem) nice flat hedged pitches, no mobiles and a very clean toilet block with lovely showers. This is where most of the British had pitched, each area also has a playground which were all good.
The pool complex was excellent with one heated covered pool/ jacuzzi, a seperate outdoor pool with the bar area overlooking it and a third pool with 3 slides, beach like entry (sloped very gradually so safe for kids) and was really well landscaped. The site also has a shop (limited choice and very limited hrs during our stay), bar (drinks very expensive, pizzeria (didnt try it) and restarant (shut til mid June I think).
Theres also a tennis court, bikes and go karts to hire (go karts 5 euros for 30 mins or 8 euros for an hour! rip off)Theres also a games room with one computer with internet access.
The original chateau is in the middle of the site with a moat around it, its lovely and the moat is full of fish who love left over bread.
The site was very quiet during our stay perhaps a reason the road noise was so noticeable, staff I found not particuarly friendly either.
We wouldnt go back for a holiday but would use it as an overnight stop as it has great motorway access.
