We had a lovely time here. A perfect place for basic camping. The site is very neat and well organised with enough foliage around the pitches for privacy. We hired the toilet tent and portapotty for 75p which Matt set up for us near our tent.
We saw a hare and a deer and enjoyed the peace of the loch despite the drizzel and not catching any fish.
We had a day at kirkudbright, wildlife centre-great value to see very rare animals and snake handling- and fish n chips.
Big tesco at castle Douglas.

If you are looking for a place to relax and chill out, this is the place. The site is immaculate and the owners are really friendly and helpful.
Dumfries is only an 18 min drive away if the ladies want some retail therapy(and what lady does not). For the gents there is free fishing within a 10 min walk. Would recommend this site. We will definitely be going back.
The only downside is there is no shower or toilet block but you can hire a porta loo + tent and loo roll for a mere 75p a night.

If you are looking for an adult only site that is small, well kept and with plenty of space between pitches then this is it.
It is set in a farmland area with a short walk to a private loch. Very quiet and relaxing, lots of wildlife including a giant hare and deer.
We have just spent 8 nights here and consider this to be the best site we have stayed at so far.
Tesco's and Morrisons are about 5 miles away, the town of Dumfries around 6 miles. There is a launderette about 5 miles away. Castle Douglas is a quaint town about 16 miles away, there is a traditional butchers, gift shops, Boots etc. It is known as the 'food town' of Dumfries and Galloway and there are plenty of take aways and restaurants.
It is an ideal location to explore the South West of Scotland.
Fresh eggs and jam are available to buy from the site. The owners are friendly and helpful, whatever the time or the weather conditions.
Dogs are welcome and the walks around the quiet country lanes are fantastic.
There are no toilets or showers on site so you need a unit that has these, although it does say on the website that a porta potti can be loaned and the local pool has shower facilities, but as most people have these facilities it is no detriment.
Hoping to return in August and if it wasn't for work commitments we would have stayed.

This is a superb little hideaway with large spacious pitches and 16 amp mains hookup. There are no shower or toilet facilities but with todays modern touring units who needs them. Matt and Jane are great people, nothing was too much trouble for them and the information hut is very informative. The surrounding area is absolutely beautiful and there is plenty to do on and around the site. We spent 10 nights at this suberb site and it still wasn't long enough hence us returning in Sept / Oct. As an adults only site it was ideal for us not that we are against children (we have 8 grandchildren) but the peace and quiet was amazing
