The campsite is right by the A62 which can be a busy road, however the traffic did not really bother us.
Campsite was in a very pleasant rural area.
Most pitches are hardstanding with electric hook up.
Small grass area for tents.
The toilet block was unisex had 3 separate bathrooms, 1 with walk in shower toilet and basin good for people with disability.
1 with bath with over head shower toilet and basin.
1 with shower cubicle toilet and basin.
Pot wash area within the toilet block.
The pub was a very pleasant offering bar meals or restaurant. The food was very good value, try the 8oz rump with fried egg.
The owners were very helpful and made everyone very welcome.
There is a children's play area.
The nearest village Marsden is about 1 1/2 away.
There was a bus stop right out side the campsite with regular buses. Buses run both directions.
The town of Huddersfield about 15 min drive away.
Would definitely use the site again and recommend it to others.
We really enjoyed our stay. Chatted to other campsite guest all appeared to have same opinion.

I've just got back from an overnight stay with my 4 year old son. The site location is beautiful and there is a lovely play area for children.
I found the tent area rather cramped as it was a pitch where you like set up and there were a lot of tents in the small area.
The toilet block was clean and tidy and one of the bathrooms contains a bath with a shower over which was quite handy for a very grubby 4 year old!
The village of Marsden is a couple of miles away which would be quite a nice scenic walk or there is a bus stop outside the site if needed.
A downside to this site is the dreaded midges. As the sun went down the midges came out and we were forced indoors. They were still around in the morning so we packed up and went home straight after breakfast.
I do feel I have to mention a serious health and safety issue - the owners have a large pitbull type dog which was allowed to roam on a long extendable lead throughout the tents. It appeared that it was allowed to do its business on the grass and I found quite a bit of dog mess around the tents, near the children's play area and on the gravel road.
This is a lovely site in a beautiful area but given the midge problem and the roaming dog I don't think I would return.

Just returned from this lovely campsite on the 21st April. The toilet block was 1st class, had a nice hot shower for 50p. There is a small playground on site which was being used. The pub has a good selection of ales, and the food was very good and reasonably priced. The licensee and staff were very helpful and obliging. There is a bus stop right outside if you need one. Needless to say that we will be going again.

This site was brilliant. Toilet block excellent and clean - loads of hot water for your 50p. Right next to the hotel where we enjoyed the lovely food and the karaoke on the Saturday was fun. Any road noise went unnoticed by all of us (3 vans in our company) and the endless moors that surrounded us provided excellent and endless dog walks. The owners were extremely helpful and very pleasant even when it was our own household kettle that kept tripping the circuit. (reminder to myself - must go and buy a travel kettle). Good 20 minute walk to the village to work up a good thirst and appetite. Will definitely be revisiting. Child friendliness marked as 8 because there wasn't much for our 13 yr old and we didn't have a booster ariel for the TV.

We were recommended this site by friends for a quick, nearby break (we live about 40 minutes away).
We could not have hit on a better weekend. The weather and views were staggering, it was the jazz festival, and the food in the pub was great. The only criticism is that the portions were a bit big for my ageing tum.
We took the tunnel end boat trip and can recommend it, and as an area of interest for sightseers, social historians, and outdoor types on foot or bicycle it is great.
The site is good, with a welcoming manager and good bar and restaurant staff. The heated facilities were good, and no waiting, even on an extra busy weekend. The site is some way from Marsden, but there is a lovely 40 minute walk down to the town, and a bus service past the door.

Used this site to show some friends of ours how to go on with their new caravanning hobby. We live a mile down the road but brought our caravan too to keep them company!
Site consists of about 10 pitches all with hook up, quite long pitches so car goes in front of the caravan. Stunning facilities with loads of hot water for the £1 charge. Descent camping area where there was a hardcore camper braving the freezing March weather! There is an on site watchman that lives in a caravan who helps you onto your pitch, very helpful and not too patronising. The pub owners are friendly and helpful. We had a fantastic meal along with good ale, watched the kareoke till late, nice to roll out of the pub into bed!
The location is bleak with nothing for a good way, just moors and sheep! My home village of Marsden is well worth a visit as its full of small shops and home to the Standedge canal tunnel and visitor centre. Holmfirth is about 7 miles away, Last Of The Summer Wine territory.
Well worth a visit just for the food and drink, ideal for a short break, nice part of the world! (I would say that wouldn't I!)

Stayed on this site while collecting a new caravan in Huddersfield.
This site is right up on the moors and has spectacular views.
The site is at the back of a pub and the owners are very friendly and give a warm welcome to visitors, the pub meals are very enjoyable and a roaring log fire really is comfortable in January!
The site has about 10 sites which are all hardstanding and there are spaces for tents but as you can imagine, none were present in January.
The site also has a small playpark area which is adequate.
The facilities in relation to the shower and toilet block are immaculate and separate from the facilities used by the patrons of the pub.
All in all, a wonderful little site and one I would definitely use again if in the area and one which I would not hesitate to recommend to friends.

I approached from the Oldam side and the site is easy to spot as you approach down hill on the right having just climbed over the watershed. The site is enclosed to keep the sheep out although not secure.
The owners who own/run the pub were very helpful and friendly. The site is small approx ten pitches which all seem to have EHU and are longer than they are wide but enough space to have your vehicle in front of your caravan and an awning to the side. The pitches are on a slight slope which is easily accommodated.
There was a small children's fenced off play area which no doubt doubles for families attending the pub which does a good range of meals and snacks.
The washing facilities were very good with three individual self contained rooms with a shower/bath, or shower cubicle, wash hand basin and WC and a radiator. They were clean and tidy during my overnight stay and they have a security keypad to the the facility which is entirely separate from facilities serving the pub.
There were two separate groups of walkers at the time of my stay (also a number of other caravanners) as the Pennine Way is just a few hundred yards up the road.
At £15 per night I would definitely recommend the site and stay there again.

Weather was awful when we stayed for the weekend but it was as others have described. Toilets were spotless and warm and ample hot water for your 50p.
As you leave the toilet block there is a sign asking you to switch off the lights. Beware if you are in the shower and someone else leaves because there are no windows and the lights go out in there also.
Perhaps singing in the shower would be a good idea! Pub has a good choice of beers and food and I would definitely use this site again if I was in the area.

Spent a couple of nights on this site whilst visiting Huddersfield, the washrooms were excellent, lots of hot water for washing (showers 50p, but they last about 15 min) there's even a bath and heating in the washroom.
The site is flat with open views (very windy so peg down well). It's near the A62 behind the carriage house restaurant, so some road noise but I didn't really notice it, probably because of the wind! Nice play ground for the children.
The carriage house is lovely inside, very friendly and helpful (my car broke down and they were happy for me to leave it there for a few days if needed). Only £5. 00 per night
