I have stayed at this site on a number of occasions since June 2010, during busy periods and quiet. The couple who own the farm are extremely friendly and accommodating.
The kids love the farm aspect of the site in that there are chickens roaming freely around etc. There are basic facilities (one ladies and one gents toilet and a shower to each) but they are normally clean and well tended.
Beach is within walking distance as is the railway station and various shops and bars on the static sites close by.
Will definitely visit this site again but maybe not suitable for longer than a weekend because of basic showers/toilets.

As the other reviews have said this is a lovely campsite in a great location. Extra loo's would definitely be welcome and if you go to this site remember to take loo roll.
There was only one downside to this campsite for me and that's the owners inability to deal with the very noisy party of 20 something men and woman that stayed for a couple of days. Music was played at very high volume well into the night and shouting and singing went on until around 1.30am. We complained on the 1st night and the owner had words with them but they just carried on and ignored him. Many other campsite owners would have kicked them off the site.
Once they left it was a wonderful stay.

We have been coming to this site for 15yrs, (my hubby since a little boy so 40yrs for him!), and we all love it! The drive in is a little tight if you are towing but if you ring ahead the owner Morris will come and tow you with his tractor, we just about manage it in our 17ft van.
The site is basic, with one shower/toilet per sex and no pot washing facility, but being in a caravan that does not bother us. There is no play area but the pitches are laid out around the edge of the field leaving the middle available for children to play and there is also the stream running along the bottom of the field which is always a big hit with the children!
For us it has the best of both worlds, 5 minute walk to the arcades / fast food of busier surrounding sites, (would highly recommend the fish and chips from the islawfford site!), But being able to return to Dalar Farm to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet!
It is only a couple of minutes walk from the train station so if you don't want to use the car you can take a train to Barmouth, or if you are feeling energetic you could walk along the beach and get the train back.
The walks around this area are amazing, walking from the site inland up towards the mountains takes you to a lovely lake, bit of a trek but worth it. I could go on about this site and area for ages!

The really great thing about this site is the space - the pitches are large and there is a lovely empty space in the centre of the field for the children to play. The toilets and showers were cleaned very frequently most days and plumbing repairs attempted fairly rapidly whenever necessary which was essential as there is only one toilet and shower for each sex to serve the whole site, so do go prepared to queue! The pitches were well drained and fairly level, with only the gateway used by cars being especially muddy.
The river mentioned was very fast when we arrived and following one nights moderate rainfall swelled by more than a few feet (hence the many frogs) and could only be described as a raging torrent, I would definitely not recommend anyone let their child or dog play in this stream! Fortunately it is fenced and gated quite securely. Due to the speed and high water levels the river was quite noisy so a pitch by the river may not suit everyone, although it does drown out most other noises.
It is a working farm which was great for the children as they could visit the horse, the new calves, goats etc and loved having hens and frogs trying to get into the tents. The nearby beaches, with the closest accessed by foot through various adjacent caravan/holiday parks and along a road, are very good and there are plenty of things to do if you are happy to drive a bit.

We had a wonderful 2 weeks on this site. A working farm, run by the friendliest campsite owners I have met in 32 years of camping. The facilities are very basic, but very clean.
The camping fields do not flood during heavy rain so no worries about ruining your holiday. The campsite has electric hook-ups and these can be booked and reserved in advance.
At only £15 per night plus our 2 dogs go free, it was an absolute bargain!
Our children loved Dalar Farm and wish to return next year.

We returned from this site following a four night stay. I want to be fair to the place so I will start with the positives:
The site is only three miles from barmouth town centre, travelled to and from via one straight road.
The beach is only a few minutes walk away, and it is a nice sandy beach, very child friendly.
On the tent field which we stayed on there are eight hook up points which work just fine.
Fresh water is available from a communal tap - again within easy reach of each pitch.
There is a walkway from the site which gives access to take aways, shops and amusement arcades if that's what you want.
The farm house owners sell calor gas replacement cylinders of all sizes as well as fresh eggs and milk.
At £15.00 a night including the hook up cost the overall cost of your holiday is cheap to say the least.
On the negative side:
To enter and leave the farm you have to cross a railway line that is guarded by two gates (one each side of the track). These are manually operated with a £1000.00 fine for leaving them open. Although quaint, the novelty soon wears off!
The site comprises of two fields, one for caravans and one for tents. All patrons only have the use of one toilet per sex and one shower per sex.
The male shower has two settings, those being five seconds of lava hot skin scorching steam followed by the remainder feeling like it is being piped in from alaska.
Shower tokens are charged at 50p for five minutes which leads to despair given that at least half an hour at least is needed to regulate it!
The owners have a distinct fondness of chickens, all 20 of them!
The main entrance to the site is very cluttered with farm machinery, tools, trailers and general items associated with farm life. The site is advertised as a working farm.
In summing up, I would say that if you are looking for a camping holiday in this area and are looking to stay on a budget, then you could do a lot worse. All pitches are level and there are an extra set of toilet and shower facilities under way. The key to a good stay here is remaining open minded.

I have been coming to this site since I was 2 years old, as have most of my family.
It is a very basic campsite and is still a working farm, it comprises of one shower block, one toilet block, 2 fields of which are kept in good order.
Electric hookups are available here.
I have camped and rented their static caravans, I have known the owners for many years!
They are the most friendly people, very accommodating to your needs.
This campsite still remains good value for money
And very close to local amenities.
Shops, arcades, pubs, wine bar, restaurant, chip shop, a local club are all within a ten min walk.
The train staion is just a few mins walk down the lane from the farm, and just a couple of miles from barmouth. I have recommended this site to other friends and shall continue to camp here for many years to come.

We thought we were lost when the lanes got very narrow , then we got to a railway crossing and thought we were very lost however open the gates and go across the tracks there in front of you is the campsite
To be honest it is very basic one toilet for each sex same with shower however they have plenty of hookups and they take large tents ( woo hoo) but when you pay £28(not for hook up ) for 2 nights you really cant complain (2 adults 4 kids ) if you take a dog they ask for a donation for the air ambulance so we rounded it up to £30
Walking distance to beach
To be honest you cant go wrong
Dont think I would take a caravan though as the lane is so narrow but lots of people were braver than me lol

We found this site by accident after a bad experience on shell island. The owners are very accommodating, it is a nice quiet place to chill out,. All the campers there when we used it were very friendly. It is quite sheltered and a sun trap, great if you want to top up on the tan. The owners are very helpful, it is a working farm so reasonably well behaved dogs only allowed. It is having refurb to toilets, showers and new hook-ups but that is not happening until the end of season after October. Will definitely be using the site again, oh one thing we missed out it is very child friendly, so a proper family site, enjoy!
