A basic yet fabulous site. Peter and Caroline were very friendly and accommodating. They will deliver fire logs to your tent door!
The views are great and open-fires are allowed which means we had some wonderfully relaxing evenings.
It is a fairly quiet, low key site which suited us perfectly.
Nearby is some of the best scenery in the land with opportunities to be as adventurous or as easy going as you like.
The two nearest pubs are a lengthy walk away but we didn't actually use them.
There is a good general store a mile or so away. All in all, excellent for no thrills, cheap, beautiful camping.

We camped at this site Whit Bank Holiday weekend, when it was busy. It has lovely views and the owner is a very nice chap.
It has only one toilet - the loo with a view, which is a shed with a toilet and sink. It also has another shed which has a shower in it.
People were having to wait to use both because the site was busy at the weekend, however after the busy time there was no problem at all.
There are fire pits available and the owner comes around on his quad selling logs.
It was a clean site.
If we were in the area we would use this site again. It is a basic site with brilliant views.

WE have just returned from our 4th visit to this camp site. Still remains one of our favourites.
We were happy to see that the shower facilities were finally in place, with plenty of hot water. The 'Loo with a View' is still a classic, very different.
This campsite is very basic, with only 1 shower and a toilet on site. If you expecting 3* amenities, then this site is not for you.
The campsite has amazing views, I think its these views that we keep coming back. The local pubs are in walking distance and well worth the visit, but there is nothing better than just relaxing at the campsite with a bbq going with stunning views infront of you.
The owners are brilliant. Always coming up to check if you need anything.
We would definitely be returning to this little gem.

We visited this site with our 3 children and had a great time.
The site is very small, basic and not really for large groups. There are 2 sheds at the bottom of the field, 1 is a toilet 'room with a view'. The other is a shower it looks a little odd but the water is hot!
The views are amazing, and the farmer and his wife are the nicest people, fires are allowed and the farmer comes round all the time on his Quad with wood, bread and even ice cream for sale! We were invited down to the farm and the children got to feed the donkeys and the baby lambs.
He was even there in the pouring down rain when we where leaving to pull us off the field with his tractor! (Thanks to good old British weather)
There are two great pubs within 2 miles either way and fly fishing at the local tarn.
Thanks you very much to the farmer and his wife.We will be back at the next available holiday so make plenty of that lovely ice cream !

I took my 3 younger brothers (13, 13, 22 and me 25)to this site a few weeks ago. It was the best decision we made of the holiday!
We go away together every year and always like something basic, homely and adventurous- this campsite ticked all of these boxes.
The owners were both lovely. Always happy to help with anything. We got fresh veg, milk, bread cheese etc delivered to our door (ring the local milkman by 7pm the night before and it arrives at your tent the next day).
A short walk from the campsite you are able to go fly fishing (although you need your own rod), catch a train, climb a peak and go to the pub(approx 2 miles away).
We had a campfire every night and generally ate food from the local farm shop (the same place as the fly fishing).
I'll leave the views (and the 'loo with a view') as a surprise but as Peter (the owner) says. 'You never see the same one twice'.

We decided on a last minute 2 nights camping somewhere in the lakes at the weekend. Our specific requirements were to be allowed to have a fire and a site that allowed dogs as we had a 3 yr old German shepherd and a 4 month old Lab pup.
I searched on this site but it was too late as all sites on here in the lakes were booked up except Parkgate.
We arrived on Friday evening about 1730 to be greeted by Peter who was on site waiting as I had phoned his wife after being slightly misguided by sat nav as usual lol.
We settled in nicely and Peter and his wife returned an hour or so later with some bags of logs for us and a nice chat.
The site is basic which is perfect for our requirements. There are 2 sheds at the end of the field, 1 is a toilet with sink, towels and hand cleansers / soaps. This is the 'Loo With A View'. Brilliant! Next to it is another new shed which I believe is a shower but wasn't finally plumbed in during our stay. On the outside of the shed is a sink with tap for washing dishes etc. In the other corner of the field is a water tap as well.
There are several fire pits provided which are a great idea as there are no scorch marks on the grass anywhere and most people had fires at nights when we stayed.
All in all a brilliant little site, with the most amazing views across to scafell pike. Basic but hey if your a real camper this site accommodates your needs. Run by a very friendly couple and I would highly recommend the site to anyone who was considering staying.

We stayed here with a group of 6 adults and 3 children for a bank holiday weekend of glorious weather.
The site is small and very basic but in a lovely rural setting and exactly the kind of camping we love, a toilet, a tap and camp fires! It is also incredibly cheap at £7 per tent including 2 people plus £2 per extra person per night.
The owners are friendly, so long as you don't cross them. They even let us borrow a few pairs of wellies. If you upset them, you'll know about it, however. They sell wood at £3.50 a bag, cheaper than available anywhere locally.
We will most definitely use the site again since there are so few sites in the lakes which allow campfires. Highly recommended if you want to go back to basics in one of the most beautiful spots in the lakes.

We just got back from this camp site after a fantastic bank holiday weekend. There were 10 of us with an age range of 25 - 32 and we had a fantastic time. The owners of the site are very approachable and friendly and I spent some time discussing the camp site with them on the phone when I booked a couple of weeks before.
The camp site was pretty easy to find.
It was fully booked for pretty much the whole weekend but there was plenty of room for everyone. It caters for tents, caravans & motorhomes and it also has a few lovely new static caravans down by the farm house.
The facilities are pretty basic with two toilets, one at either end of the camp site, a couple of sources for drinking water and a sink to wash up in although there appeared to be no hot water whilst we were there. One of the toilets is a portaloo and the other is a converted shed with a little window for you to look out of to enoy the beautiful view. The toilets were cleaned daily and came with hand soap, towels & toilet paper. Sadly there is no shower but this shouldn't bother the seasoned camper!
Camp fires are allowed and you can purchase wood from the owners for a very small fee (a lot cheaper than the petrol station down the road).
There are also donkeys & cows on the farm which are well worth visiting (bring carrots).
There are several excellent walks you can do from the camp site depending on how energetic you are.
Otherwise, Muncaster & Ravenglass are only a few minutes drive away and well worth a visit.
There are two pubs one and half miles in opposite directions from the site and a petrol station a couple of minutes drive away with a good selection of groceries should you forget anything.
All in all this camp site is perfect for any one of any age for any purpose! It's a proper little gem!

We got to site very late on a Friday night. We had no idea of the view which would greet us in the morning, it's the most lovely view I've had the pleasure of waking up to. We knew it was basic and it was, but they've done a lovely job with the shed in the corner of the field. It's got carpet and the same grand view. It even has a proper plaque saying 'loo with a view' and clean towels every day.
The owner Peter is very friendly and quite affable if you get to know him. You are allowed camp fires, which is why we found it on UKCampsite.co.uk in the first place, and we were so pleased when he offered to provide the logs for our fire. I had just driven from Sheffield in a Nissan Micra with half of it full of wood!
Peters idea of providing wood is a huge bag of logs, with a Tesco bag full of kindling and a fire starter brick thrown in for good measure.
There's 2 water taps and the loo, which is plenty for proper tenters like me and Lou, and a toilet disposal thingy for you posh caravanner's.
We had the most awful weather the last 3 days, I mean rain that I thought the tent really couldn't cope with. We were determined not to go home until Friday at least because I had the whole week off work and I weren't about to cut it short, but on the Thursday Peter came up and was genuinely worried that we were ok, and if we needed anything drying in the tumbler. I've never had that on a campsite before.
They also have 2 static caravans for hire and are looking at opening something else for next year. Whatever the pair of them do, I hope that campsite is there for many years to come and that they have just enough nice people staying there to keep it going as long as they want it to.
I love it. I 'll give it five stars and tell all my friends too.
See you next year Peter and thanks to you both.
