Had our very first weekend touring in our van here, oh it was lovely, we ate in the pub and went back to our van sat out side and enjoyed watching the campers. The men loved the fact that they could go to and throw to the pub for a pint. The toilets were lovely, not much of a wait as they don't over fill the site. It really was a pleasure and helped us decide that caravanning is fun, intact our friends that came with us bought a van shortly after :-)

We can only agree with the reviews below.
Great site and food.
Very peaceful.
Advice: During the night the toilets are accessed by coding in the numbers. We were not told this was the case and hence could not access the facilities. Do ask for the code or you might get caught short. Other than that a great site.
Went to Stokesy Castle a gem of a place and got lured into signing up for English Heritage.

What a lovely site. We have just returned from the Baron of Beef site and can update the reviews found here.
The site is flat with electric hook up available and a stand tap on the field.
There is a new disabled toilet and shower room available to all campers. The shower is to be used up to eleven o'clock in the morning and between three and six in the afternoon. The unit is accessible even when the pub is shut and is beautifully clean.
The pub is one of the most friendly places we have ever been. The landlord and his wife cannot do enough to help along with the landlords brother.
The locals are extremely friendly and after a couple of days you feel like one of them.
The food is delicious and served piping hot.The prices are not cheap but the meals are excellent.
The caravan paddock is visited by rabbits, stoats, pheasants etc fascinating to watch!
There are lots of attractions around this area
Ironbridge, Blist Hills,Acton Scott, loads of National Trust and English Heritage properties within an hour also the Severn Valley Railway.
We shall definitely be returning to the Baron.
An added bonus (to us maybe not to all) The T.V. Coverage requires more than the standard ariel and there is only mobile phone coverage by Orange. Perfect peace!

While the camp site may not be to every ones taste facility wise, its setting cannot be faulted. The field is reasonably level and is approached through the pub car park, the water point and limited availability toilets (at pub) are a little trek but no hardship. The surrounding views are very pleasant with Red Kites wheeling overhead and Pheasants strutting past the van. The Pub has a friendly atmosphere, great service and excellent food. Mine host is also a caravanner and the local customers all seemed to be a very nice bunch. If you are into old cars or motorcycles, so are most of them. We have booked to return in May for the Ludlow Festival of Transport. There are some great places to visit all around this area. Knighton is just up the road where you will find all the shops and tea rooms you could wish for and many points of historical interest, especially if you are into walking. Give the site a try you will be pleasantly surprised

The baron of beef has a nice car park;the campsite is another matter! The place does take tents I saw two small ones when I parked my teardrop turtle caravan. The site is grassy and is too rough to camp so better for caravans ;trailer tents etc . There is about 6 electric points maybe more but no toilet apart from the pubs own no good when shut. There are no showers and the water supply is by the pub entrance behind a wooden fence.I was not too gone on the campsite room for improvement. You would think that is it then;well actually no because I have to say that the pub makes amends for its short comings in this area. The food ,beer and service is excellent and I mean excellent making me forgive my earlier disappointment and,the welcome is very good.
You will not find better for food in this part of Shropshire / Herefordshire I really enjoyed my visit here nothing was less than very good. The village of bucknal has a small shop and I think a butchers but I did not see this on this visit spending more time else where. If you want to spend a nice night under canvas look elsewhere but if like me you have a caravan and like great food you have just found heaven!
