We have just had a wonderful weekend at Moorhay Farm. We had a friendly welcome at this working farm / livery. The field is surrounded by fields of horses so beautiful views. It has basic facilities which is good enough for us but with the great bonus of being able to have a raised campfire - always a bonus!
The site is a good 10 min walk down a track but there is a pub - The Fox and Geese just 5 minutes further - which serves really good food - and allows dogs in the bar area. There is also another pub - The Royal Oak further down the road on the left (5 mins). We did a great walk from 'AA 50 Walks in the Peak District' - which happens to pass past the top of the farm track lane around Linacres's wood and reservoirs - about 6 miles in total. Buses into Chesterfield go every hour by Wigley school at the crossroads (15 min walk from camp). Can also catch bus to Bakewell there.
The sun shone for us, but even if it hadn't had, it was a really great camp sight for us who enjoy a bit of dog walking and a couple of pubs close by if not chilling by the campfire!

We have just returned from a lovely weekend stay at Moorhay Farm.
The campsite is a new start up for the farm, so currently facilities are basic. There is a toilet block with warm water and a shower, although the toilets are missing bins and need a bit of a spruce up. There is a second toilet block being built so next year more facilities will be available.
The site is medium sized, plenty of room for tents and vans. They have hook ups available if you want electric. The field is next to a horse field, perfect if you want to add some value to the scenery.
Camp fires were allowed, although no fire wood or pits were provided - so make sure you go prepared.
The pub (fox and goose) is located at the end of the lane, 0. 6miles away approx 15min walk, excellent food and a proper country pub - although a little pricey - the food was amazing and the portions are big enough for two!
At a steal of £7 per tent per night Moorhay farm is a perfect place to get away, it still needs a little work but I am sure next season it will be fully up and running.
One improvement to make - bins, please provide bins for the campers.

If you are looking for piece and quiet this is the place for you.
The farm is a bit messy and the access to the field a bit bumpy, it was raining when we arrived so it was a bit muddy as well, we thought we are going to leave next day.
The horses at the front field, the trees, birds and beautiful sunset in the morning made us stay for another three days!
Clean toilets with toilet paper, , taps and shower with hot water( free of charge).
Dogs welcome, campfire allowed!
We will definitely come back!
Thank you.
