This is a nice basic site with lots of animals around for the kids to chat to. It's by far the cheapest site we could find in the area (my sister in law spent twice the amount a night for her site). There's no showers so not a great site for longer stays but there's plenty of hot water and toilets.
The shop sells lovely sausages and cooked breakfasts are available whih is handy!
Pros: cheap, pretty, quiet, relaxed, lots of hot water, animals on site, sausages!
Cons: will only accept cash for your pitch (we didn't realise this till we got here), no showers, toilet floors got very muddy

Great little site on a working farm within walking distance of Lyndhurst. The facilities were basic (toilets only, no showers) but were cleaned twice a day. It also had a cute little shop stocked with sausages and burgers which were out of this world!
We had a choice of fields a quiet, smaller one and a larger one for younger people surrounded by farmland. Both seemed to be clean, but the grass in the field we stayed in could have done with cutting by the farmer!
The children enjoyed seeing the cows come home at night, and the goats which were milked everyday. We even saw deer in the evening in the woods behind the farm.
Overall a nice little site which was very cheap, could do with some showers and a tidy/spruce up though!

This is a fantastic little site in the middle of the New Forest, with Lyndhurst within walking distance. We stayed here for a weekend break, but one night here is definitely not enough! We absolutely loved it here and will definitely be returning for a few more nights.
The site itself is a well kept field on a working farm. The people on the farm are all very friendly and helpful, with the added bonus of their very own farm shop. Here you can get some basic essentials, as well as some mouthwatering burgers and sausages that have come from their own livestock.
The site is great value for money at £5 per person per night. The toilets may be basic, but they are always kept clean, we just can't wait to go back for more!

Abs Fab! Comes to mind, we've been here about 4 times in the last 2 years. It is the only place the kids ask to go when camping is mentioned!.
I've been camping most of my life, and I'm not a camping snob, but this site was basic by my standards! but the rest of the family loved it! It is evolving, and now has a purpose 'bought' toilet block of two! and a couple of Portaloos, plus the use of an inside toilet on the property. At busy times, it gets very busy and there are queues for the facilities, one of which is not a shower, but hey, this is camping proper like!
The family run farm makes it a very friendly place and they are keen to show you how they make sausages, and rear pigs. Even allowing us to name some of the piglets, so the standing joke now when we go to the Supermarket is, 'There's Wilbur!' when approaching the sausage counter.
Lyndhurst is a bustling village with much to see. And many cafes to enjoy. A camping shop is available 7 days a week. It only has one road in and one road out so does get jammed up.
As mentioned in another post it is basic and whilst we could probably stay there for a week or more, it will not appeal to everyone. But it is about half the price of the other local sites.

We recently visited Pondhead for a short break and thoroughly enjoyed it! The site itself is very basic with two level fields in which to camp, and a double toilet unit, but for £5 per person per night, we weren't complaining. When we arrived we were greeted with a warm welcome and given a brief guide as to where everything was before being directed to the field we would be pitching in. We were camping on a May weekend and were one of only 2 units on the whole site which meant plenty of space and privacy. Lovely!
Pondhead is a working farm and so there is plenty of cows, goats, sheep, geese, and horses etc roaming around but naturally they are kept out of the camping fields. The on site farm shop sells sausages and burgers etc all of which have been produced from their own stock, and are out of this world - particularly the sausages! From the site itself Lyndhurst is only a 30 minute stroll through lovely New Forest countryside.
All in all we found Pondhead a great camp site for a short break although we probably would not want to camp there for extended periods purely due to the lack of showers.
