Visited the site for a short weekend.
On arrival, after difficulty finding the site, was well looked after at reception, although they did not give out the code for the toilet block, We had to get this from one of the boaters.
The site is on the right hand side, just before the canal bridge after turning off opposite the White bear pub.
The pitches are at the very end of the marina, and are organised in a semi circle. The grass was not well kept and there were several piles of dog poo about. The boat owners seemed to let their dogs run free despite notices saying dogs should be kept on leads. It is a fair walk back to the cleanish shower and toilet blocks.
The village is just a short walk away and there are walks all along canal banks.
In riverside nearby there is a place where you can 'Go Ape' at a cost of £25.

We have just had our first weekend here, and I'm certain it won't be our last. I can only echo what the previous poster wrote, a very nice little site, tucked well away from the road yet easily accessible to all local amenities. There are plenty of pubs in the local vicinity! At least 4 within 5 minutes walk, 3 of which can be seen from the gate of the marina! We only tried one of them, The Spinners Arms. Basic menu, but excellent value for money, most main meals costing less than £5. Lots of it too!
We found some lovely canalside walks with our dogs, though they tried jumping in at every opportunity!
The marina is easy to find, Adlington is a small village and the marina is in the centre. Chorley is good for a shopping trip and easy to get to.
When we arrived on the Saturday the grass in front of the caravan area looked really boggy and muddy, it had rained hard all week. Thankfully, the weather was kind to us, and the mud soon dried up. Also we noted that a plastic webbing was under the grass to stop it getting too badly damaged.
The toilets were spotless, as was the shower and launderette.
All in all we had a lovely weekend, the weather was good, the site was nice and the member of staff in the office (Chris) I dealt with was very helpful and friendly. And the site fees were cheap, only £12 a night, electric too! I have no complaints whatsover, it's a fairly basic site but everything is handy and all the other campers and boaters were friendly. We'll be back!

We have just returned from this site & asked webby to list it for you. It is owned by British Waterways and is a really pretty marina with fancy railings, and the surrrounding areas are well-kept by the boating community.
The site is very easy to locate due to it being slap bang in the village center. As this is a working narrow/canal boat marina most of the site is laid over to the boats, but to the rear there is a fully hardstanding (10 pitch)area all with EHU for motorhomes & caravans.
The site is very well lit & overlooks the moored boats & canal which are slightly below you, please note there is no direct access to the canal at the marina side but a short walk across the canal bridge takes you onto the towpath. There is a communial large brick built BBQ & picnic benches on the grassed area. Noisewise all we heard were horses neighing and ducks quacking total silence (bliss) with the occasional train whistle as it pulled into the railway station across the road behind you.
Toilets, showers (2 loos and 1 shower per gender)and laundry area are very clean, but maybe a little dated, all accessed by key code locks. Plenty of hot water, liquid soap, hand towels as well as a heated hand dryer and lots of loo roll!
No disabled toilet or shower, however there is only one step into the block with reasonably large toilet cubicles with outward-opening doors, and huge shower the full width of the building so ample space if needed for anyone with mobility problems.
There is a well equipped chandlery shop, clothing/underwear shop and cafe. Gas and normal caravan stuff all easily available.
There is no late arrivals area as the office is run on a 9 to 5 basis, so if you need to stay out late you will need a barrier key (£20 deposit) as the barrier is down from 6pm until 8am. Last arrival is before 5pm as this is when the office closes but you can book onto site at 9am the following morning at no extra cost. £12 per night including electric.
Due to it's location everything is within 200 yards of the gate, CO-OP open till 10pm, petrol, Indian, Chinese, Fish and Chips, sandwich shop, 3 pubs at least, Railway Station and bus stops with regular services into Chorley (3 miles) which is where the main high street shops can be found. Not sure where else the buses go yet. Morrisons, Aldi & Netto on A6 at Chorley. Also heard there is a Lidl somewhere too.
The site is ideal for walking and cycling, as the main road bridge is at the site entrance, giving easy and direct access to the tow path. There is also a large park just across the road.
To sum up we had a very pleasant laid back weekend and found all the boaters to be a friendly jovial bunch and we look forward to going back.
