Found that this is a lovely little site, quite quiet and whith two fields there is plenty of room.
The toilet block has been updated since our last visit, and is now very accessible, clean and well lit. The shower is a little further away from the camping areas, but is easy to use. There's an honesty box for the shower.
The little village is lovely, with wonderful scenery about. You'd probably need a car to get about, although we didn't look at public transport.
A lovely and peaceful place to stop.

We stopped on this site for a night stopover on the way to Rockingham.
The site was pleasant enough, and unusually the field with no electric was better as it was flatter & nowhere near the septic tank!
Didn't use the shower so cannot comment there, and the single blue & pink toilets were enough for us.
All in all it was ok, but would prefer more to do there & better facilities if we were staying longer with an active 5 year old!
There is the potential to tun this place into a cracker!

We stayed over August bank holiday. The campsite was relatively quiet, perhaps due to the bad forecast for the weekend. The field we had to pitch in was very good quality grass and not just a 'square' or 'rectangle' in shape. Thank goodness the site was very quiet as the facilities were incredibly limited. One pink portaloo for women and one blue portaloo for men. The washing up area consisted of just one sink in a half open shed-like construction. The one and only shower, a further walk from the other facilities and main field, was situated in an add-on to the main brick building. The owners requested a £1 fee each time this was used by means of an honesty box. Although relatively decent as showers go (there was also a toilet and sink as it was like a self contained bathroom) my wife was not best pleased on our first morning when she had to wait over 20 minutes before it came available. With just one shower this I suppose is likely to happen, despite the owners requesting that campers 'do not hog the showers during peak times'. Overall the facilities let this site down. They were in need of some tlc and on our last day none of the few toilets contained toilet roll. Ironically a framed certificate in the shower room for a campsite award was dated 1995. Perhaps they need to move into 2012! This site could be great as the field was lovely, apart from some road noise. The surrounding countryside is fantastic with lots to do.

We have just returned from a three night stay at The Old Rectory a quiet and well maintained site in a beautiful village location.
Surrounded by walks and picturesque views. The local pub is small but friendly, a variety of shops, eateries and a garage are located in nearby Uppingham.
The pitches are well kept and the grass is immaculate, the owners accommodating and helpful. There is a small washing up area with hot and cold water most useful when your in a tent. However with only one shower available to the whole site this is an area of improvement to be looked into.
All in all a good basic campsite in a lovely location perfect for walking and relaxing.

This is a beautifully located site with plenty to do in the local area. The site is tidy and well maintained and there is lots of room between outfits. It was just about full when we visited but due to the space it didn't feel remotely busy. We didn't use any toilet/wash facilities so we can't comment on those. There were only two negatives for us - road noise from the nearby A road was very distracting (must be a real pain if you're in a tent!) and I'm afraid we didn't find the owners particularly helpful. A cross examination immediately on arrival about one's dog isn't particularly welcoming, especially when we'd covered all that on the phone already.

This was our first visit in the area and we decided to choose Belton as it was close to the area in Leicester we wanted to visit. Belton was a beautiful and peaceful area. The other visitors around the area were very friendly and helpful. Security was great and the owners were very helpful in every aspect. The village was very peaceful and our type of country.
There was a park in the village for the children to play in. This site also had horse riding but this had to be done by arrangements. There was lots of space for my daughter to be free.
Toilet blocks and wash area were kept clean. Only problem in the toilet area at night and early hours of the morning the water was too hot to wash hands.
The Shower was great but every time I used it the hot water unit was left on by other people who used the shower. Maybe the price of the shower should be included in whether a camper uses it or not that way it might be respected.
We did not use the shops but thought that it was great to have shops near by to do a bit of shopping.
Spent 3 days which was too short so since it was a very enjoyable area and place we would like to be back there and see more of the area.

Midweek in August the tent field was practically empty so lots of space in a fairly level field. Camping at the far end it was a bit of a hike to the 2 portable loos (with washbasins) one painted blue and one pink presumably for male and female.
Sink for washing up (I think only cold water but did not use it) and a good shower by the farmhouse but £1 a go. Also they will freeze ice packs.
Friendly owners, farm shop just a few yards down the lane and a good position for Rutland Water and the myriad of historic houses and sites nearby.
There was a bit of traffic noise from the nearby main road which hardly ceased all night and the rooks nesting in the trees were noisy early in the morning but a great site and would return.

This is our first visit to this site and it was the only site available in rutland on the whit bank holiday. Comprises 2 fields one for caravans and one for tents with mown grass and quite flat with a good space in the middle for playing and running around. There were mainly families staying over the bank holiday and was helped by the fabulous weather. There were only 2 loos ( basic but ok ) which was not really enough on a busy bank holiday but probably would be fine for the rest of the time. The village is very twee with one traditional pub which unfortunately does not always do food - certainly was not on sunday evening anyway. It is about a 4.5 mile walk into uppingham across good flat fields well posted and there are plenty of eateries and pubs in uppingham . So a good basic campsite in a pretty village
