We have just got back from Pleasant Streams Farm having spent a very enjoyable few days camping.

The owner is really friendly and was very helpful when I phoned up prior to our visit. Although we stayed during the Jubilee Weekend there was still plenty of space and we had no trouble finding a spot. The ground is level and not too stony and we loved the view of the man-made lake in the middle of the field.

The site is well located for access to the pretty harbour towns of Fowey and Mevagissey. St Austell is just down the road and Truro only a short drive away.

The local pub in the nearby village of Sticker is a nice place to go for a drink, it's a short walk from the site and they had some nice St Austell ales on tap. We booked a table for our last night and were amazed at how quick the service was. The menu was a bit limited but the food was very good.

Some of the other reviews have mentioned the facilities were stretched however I think it's probably fairer to say that they could do with substantial updating. We are not the kind of campers who expect shiny bathrooms, gleaming toilets and polished marble so we were generally quite happy until we spotted some mushrooms growing in the shower tray.

There are only two toilets in the Gents (not sure how many in the Ladies) and a single shower cubicle. Given the relatively few campers staying there this was not a massive problem - but in an ideal world the facilities would be upgraded as this would make them much easier to keep clean.

When we ran into the owners they seemed well aware of the problems with the bathrooms. It seems most people who stay here say that the site is amazing but let down by the ramshackle nature of the facilities. We also noted that there were no communal washing up area so remember to bring a washbowl. Also - as you are camping near water you should pack insect bite cream and repellent.

On a more positive note the site is very quiet, we very much enjoyed being able to have a campfire and being able to go for a quick row on the man-made lake sets this place apart from your run of the mill sites who just provide a field with nothing to do. If you want a nice relaxing campsite which has the added bonus of allowing camp fires then this is the site for you - just take the rather dated facilities with a pinch of salt.

We hope this review helps others enjoy this site as it is a nice place to camp.

We booked this campsite for 2 nights during the Queen's jubilee weekend, and found it is a great place to stay for those who like nature and don't need a fully equipped holiday park.

The campsite is lovely, with a little lake in the middle and a boat that you can use on the lake, the nearby village with a really cute pub where we spent both evenings is only a 10 minute walk away (bring a torch though because you're walking through the forest) and the owners are really nice people.

Facilities are pretty basic, don't expect any luxury in that respect, but there are 2 proper and clean toilets each for male and female, two sinks and one shower each and the shower was nice and warm.

This site is clean, has a fair bit of space for pitching and has a pitch where you like policy. You are allowed open fires and they sell wood on site at £4 a bag, size of the bags are pretty much what you get from a garage and we found that a bag would last us a night and a half - but bring your own axe or something to make kindling with.

There is a small lake in the middle of the camping field which has a rowing boat and they provide life jackets for the kids too, this was a real bonus for the site for us as it kept the kids occupied for hours.

The facilities are very basic, don't expect anything even half posh. It's literally a small hut with a gents one side and the ladies the other with a small summer house dividing the two which contains a number of leaflets and notices regarding attractions for the local area.

There is one shower for each and 2 toilets, take your own loo roll though as the supplied stuff tends to run out pretty quickly. They were cleaned once a day and to be honest we all felt they could be done atleast twice a day as they did get pretty grotty by the evening time.

The shower was a bit of a mystery, took a couple of days to figure that out, basically only turn on the cold tap as the hot is or should already be at the right position. If you start fiddling with the hot tap you end up with nothing but cold water.

Initially when we arrived we were a little disappointed as we were told we had to pay more per night for the pitches due to the tariff changing since we booked. We did however manage to sort this out and they honoured the price we were expecting to pay although it was a bit of a worry seeing as we'd budgeted to the penny for the holiday.

Location wise, it's great, easy to find and close to St Austell and all the other attractions nearby, Lost garden and Eden. It's also only 30 mins from the north coast resorts of Newquay and Perranporth which are great for the beaches and super surf.

The guys running the farm are very pleasant, easy to talk to, and has been mentioned already full of local knowledge on the best places to visit.

We were very lucky with the weather, we had almost 2 weeks of sunshine with only one morning of rain. Although when it did rain the site gets pretty wet as the water runs down towards the lake.

The village of sticker with its little shop and pub is only a 10 minute walk away along a very nice peaceful footpath, so getting supplies is very easy to get if you don't want to take the car.

All in all I'd say the site was lovely, facilities were being stretched by the campers but as long as you expect what you get before you get there then you can't go wrong. Beautiful and peaceful and perfectly placed in South Cornwall, we'd happily go back again in the future.

Wow what a fantastic little campsite, very basic and oh so nice. Although toilet and shower block very small it was the best shower ever.

The owners are superb people, very helpful and full of great knowledge and advice of the area. It's a great base for all of the best spots in Cornwall and all within 1 hour's drive.

Recommend it to anyone who doesn't expect the Ritz or kiddy activities. We had a wonderful week and even though it rained most of the time it didn't dampen our stay one bit.

Intimate small site within the farm surrounded by a stream and with a small boating lake with free use of rowing boat, extremely popular with the children. The owners are approachable friendly and full of info on the locality and allow visitors to stroll the farm where you can handle and feed the goats (billy and gruff and pygmy goats),two jolly pigs, chickens, chicks, ducks and geese. There are fresh eggs, home made cakes and plants for sale.

The showers (one each for males and females are basic but lovely and hot, just what you need in the morning! Four toilets in total and perfectly adequate! DONT come here if you want a pool and clubhouse and need entertaining, its not for you! We had fabulous sunshine for most of the week but it poured non stop one day and night and the grounds became very wet, but no more than we'd expect as campers.

We were out every day and recommend the Lost Gardens of Heligan, 2 miles away, Charlestown Harbour, Polkerris, Mevagissey, Gorran Cove (for the coastal walk),Polperro (bit further afield) and the zip wire at Liskeard! We didn't manage Eden Project,(2miles away) maybe next time, but all the campers seemed to have enjoyed it. The coast in the area is stunning and the coastal path walks steep and exhilarating! We sat outside almost every evening enjoying the quiet, but for the sounds of local wildlife.

We loved every minute and were sad to leave Cornwall and the site. P.S. Nearest supermarket is ASDA and is a frenzy of locals and tourists,be brave!

It was a bit like camping in a swamp. Due to the heavy rains the site was inaccessible by car, but the owners kindly lend us a wheelbarrow. We managed to pitch on one dryish spot and had the whole site to ourselves for the duration of our visit.

The toilets were portable loos, 2 of, which eventually made it onto the field, and the shower block was a similar item, run by a diesel generator.

The owners were very nice, and have lots of plans for the place so hopefully next year the facilities may be better and hopefully the rain won't wash the site out.

There was a nice pub serving food about a 15 minute walk away and another very nice one a 10 minute drive away, both very pleasant to shelter from the rain in!
