Managed to get in for the Easter break at Tollerton caravan park. We arrived on good Friday and the stay was for 3 nights, at night time the electric kept cutting out at the main fuse board so we were sat in dark several times that night in end went for a takeaway as unable cook.
The site is not set up for rain with only a few hard standing pitches, when we arrived ground was ok but after a few hours of rain the ground waterlogged and we had mud coming through our groundsheet. We were wearing wellies while walking about and we feel £20.00 pounds for such a site is very poor.
Nice new toilet block very clean. Caravans too close together

This site has the potential to be a very good site but is let down by a couple of points.
Firstly the toilet and shower facilities. There are two showers in the ladies and I have been told the same in the gents but the cubicles are just too small to shower in and then where to dress after you have showered as there is no space for dry clothes.
There are 4 toilets 2 of which didn’t lock. On the weekend I visited it was busy at the site and the toilets didn’t appear to be cleaned while we were there so by Sunday evening the toilets left a lot to be desired.
Secondly is that the caravan/camping field tends to have patches of water logged areas in heavy rain.
There are also a lot of good points.
It is a very clean and tidy site and the wardens are friendly and helpful.
There are dish washing facilities with plenty of hot water
There is a Chinese restaurant/pub at the entrance which does a decent meal at a reasonable price.
If you go over the hill that crosses the railway line and into Tollerton there is a pub at the end of the road (about 5 minutes walk) that also does meals.
It is a quiet site and although there is a railway line close by you soon get us to the noise and don’t notice the trains that do past.
Would we go back? Yes but more so if there were improvements to the toilet / shower block.

Visited this site on bank holiday week end. Overall had a good time. We camped in the overflow field with no electric hookup but they are available if booked early. Site clean and tidy, facilities basic ie toilet, showers but did have washer/dryer and ironing at small charge. There is no club house, however the owners did lay on some entertainment over the weekend(bingo, quiz, karaoke, bbq)which we all enjoyed. There is a small play area with slide and swings(the kids were quite happy with this) plenty of open space for the kids to play ball games etc.
There is no shop on site but 5min walk into tollerton there is a post office general store which has everything. On the entrance to the site there is a chinese restaurant/pub/takeaway which sells good food. The site would benefit if a small shop was on site. The site is situated about 100yds from the main york rail line which at first we thought maybe annoying but found we soon got used to the trains going by. Owners were very helpful and friendly. Overall had a good weekend and would go back.
